I got a second email asking my age, what US time zone I'm in and when I'm available to talk by phone. I responded with that information.
Same here, from a Sarah.

First we'll see if I get a call. I might not fit the age range they are looking for. I might still be disqualified by additional questions not yet asked. Then there is my side of it. Are they trying to find out something that interests me? Do they require personal information I'm not willing to disclose?Well, that's promising.
Do let us know how the call goes, if you can.
Your question is moot. I'm not interrogating you..How do we know that this is actually YOU posting?
Email sent to study!
I got that same email, says if you meet the requirements you will get a call within 2 days,if my phone rings cool,if not, well that's cool too haha.I got a second email asking my age, what US time zone I'm in and when I'm available to talk by phone. I responded with that information.
I found this web page asking for participants for a survey about vaping. Apparently a department of the college is going the survey.
Students Needed for E-Cigarette Survey
I'm sure it's not the same organization that started this thread. What would you learn from a survey of college kids who vape? See, see! They enjoy it! Shame on them!
So may be those of us who may be a bit older than college kids won't get the call because the purpose of the survey is to get fodder for claiming vaping is such a huge threat to kids that it must be banned, blah blah blah. I'm betting if I don't get a call back it's because I'm not a college kid.
I have a really, really, REALLY bad attitude toward the public health field. I wonder how that happened.
Sadly, I believe you might onto something.

I'm aware that the other study is probably unrelated. Were you contacted by phone? I missed a call today from a private line with 202 area code. No message left though. The link you posted is Arkansas.
The Thread here is for Virginia Commonwealth University.
Nope, It is a Student level Study - As most college studies are. Teachers and administrators just Deal out assignments.
I am now Qualified for the 3 Part Survey. I am 62 yrs old.
Maybe I can help them in completing their task(Which sounded Positive from short discussion) and help the community through positive participation.

Consider sharing some of the interesting questions in the thread. What do you think they are trying to learn?

That's the stage I too am at in this process.I also got that email! Hoping to take part.
Thanks for the info. Keep it coming. There might be a correlation between the number of years someone smoked and particular attitudes toward's vaping. The fishing for physical or psychological effects suggest they are expecting to hear about a level of psychoactivity that would be more associated with alcohol or those generally illegal substances we don't mention here. For hardware preferences how do they account for hobby vapers who use a variety of different devices.Okay, So far very Generic.

Sections 2 & 3
So basically you are asking for a vaper to design the survey. What I would be asking, and may be they will, is what ohm/watts do you run at most of the time? Do you buy pre mix or DIY? What percent of your budget is spent in local B/W, how much online? How many ml per day at what nic percent? How long were you a dual users or are you still a dual user? Are you a never smoker? RDA's or tanks? Mech mods or regulated? Built in batteries or replacable batteries? I might be asking, what kind of vaper are you?
My guess is there is nobody on their team who has a clue about vaping. That seems to be true about most of the people who defend us, a notable exception being Dr. F. Even then we all have our personal niches and those can express some very different motiviations. You're not going to understand vapers if you assume they are all doing the same thing for the same reasons. So basically you are asking for a vaper to design the survey.
I have taken so many surveys in my life, and most of them are almost untakeable.
There are always too many questions without relevant or applicable answers.
Maybe in my next life I will design surveys.
It's something I am very good at.
That is one of the more profound statements I've read in my nearly seven years here. You're not going to understand vapers if you assume they are all doing the same thing for the same reasons.
