We should unite! I was sitting in my car at a red light, when lo and behold in my rear view mirror I saw a young woman frantically making hand gestures at me, as if to say "ooh, ooh, I know what you're doing! I know what you're vaping on there!" Clearly she recognized my LavaTube.
The whole incident got me to thinking that maybe we should have some kind of Vaper's Hand Signal (a VHS?) to avoid this type of frantic hand gesturing that I had just witnessed. I looked up the American Sign Language site, to see what "vapor" was, but it's too complex, and slightly lame. Any ideas? Or is this entire idea kinda lame?
Sort of like this? ;)
Really though, having an accepted hand sign would be awesome.

What about a V for Victory? Or Vapery maybe? Vapetory?

Little tangent - the BBC's "Radio Londres" broadcasts from London to Occupied France during WWII opened with the first bars of Beethoven's 5th, because it was the letter V in Morse code. Dit-dit-dit-daaah!

(Please forgive me if this is common knowledge and I've made myself look like a goof by basically stating that the sky is blue.)

I don't even get funny looks vaping in public, or maybe it is because I don't care and therefore don't pay attention. I can tell you that I sure get funny looks talking on my cell phone with my stereo headset on. They seem to have figured out the one ear sets which I can't stand, the headband wireless sets really make them think you are talking to yourself. So I do pay attention to that and get a lot of laughs. I'm not exactly self conscious though so I don't even think about this when I vape :)

Having said that though, anyone who has a problem with my vaping anywhere anytime can kiss my ... :p

I doubt many of us are that familiar with Morse code, they still use that stuff these days? :D

I thought they only had Grey skies in London!

Oh, and you're a Geek!! Welcome to the family! :D

Since I also know how to sign, the word "smoke" is like waving "bye bye" with your right hand pointed down towards your open left hand which is lower (about tummy hieght and a few inches away from it), and moving the wave away from your left hand at a 45 degree angle from it and ending when it gets about shoulder hieght. Perhaps by making the letter "V" in the same jesture without the use of your left hand and ending with a upward "V" for victory would be a good sign for vaping? Just a suggestion.

I am able to english sign at the same speed as my regular voice... It helps deaf people to understand the difference between signing and speaking english.

I'm still trying to get use to vaping in public, mostly I get weird looks in the car. I feel like people think I am smoking crack or weed. Lol. - I have social anxiety though, even when I smoked cigarettes in public it made me very uncomfortable( being out in general makes me uncomfortable). I went to a birthday party last weekend and my friend and her family all had e-cigs. It was kinda neat, first time I have ever seen other people with them in person.

that's nothing. I can Chinese sign at he same speed as I speak English. It helps non deaf Chinese people realize that they're very hard to understand.

Meh.

Again, I guess I'm the one guy against vaping anywhere at anytime.

I only vape at indoor private establishments, that previously allowed smoking (bars, restaurants) and only if i have received permission, never in places like the grocery store or Walmart. I never ever smoked there, why would I need to vape there?

I think with so many zealots out there, vaping openly in places like Walmart, with a "because I can" attitude, will only hurt our cause.

I'm with Roland on this. I don't see the need to Vape everywhere I go. It amazes me when I hear of folks vaping in Church etc. Didja really used to smoke in Church before you started vaping? Grocery shopping?! Did you smoke as you wandered around Walmart or wherever before?

Some folks do go too far sometimes, and then complain when stopped or questioned.

I don't bother Vaping while shopping or while at a resturant, I just don't want to seem pushy about it.
For comparison- if someone started on about their relgion, race or sexual preference and said YOU MUST TOLERATE IT BECAUSE IT'S MY RIGHT AND IT DOESN'T HURT ANYBODY!!, well I for one would be ready to throw a punch, I don't care what you do but if you go out of your way to make it my business then problems will arise.

But in my car, at a bar (with permission), on the street, hotel room, any bathroom in existence, in bed, at work (I work alone), anywhere that generally won't cause anybody any problems, just some courtesy and common sense, like cellphone etiquette and such.

Know what I mean Vern?..

Haven't been to the bar since I started vaping. I'd probably vape on the patio with no compunctions, and inside only with permission. Never even thought of vaping in a business establishment of any sort, but then again I never smoked in one unless it was legal to do so.

I vape outside, in my house, in the car, and in any bathroom I can sneak off to for a minute or two. I only ever smoked outside.

I don't vape around the kids, and try not to around the wife, either, but that's more because she's kind of weirded out by seeing me vape inside. She doesn't really mind, when it comes down to it, however.

Share my wifes philosophy with your wife. "I prefer you vaping inside than smoking outside!". That philosophy has helped me stay off the smokes for almost 2 years now.
