That's the truth. Big world of difference with a vv vs. 3.7v.

I think the best VV deal out there right now is the VZVV from the vaping zone. You get the VZVV, 2-18650, 2-atty's, & a charger for $69!. That's pretty hard to beat especially for what all you get. Pbusardo did a great review where he broke out that scope & it shows where it performs really well. Seemed a little better then the lavatube imo.

VZ VV Tube Mod 510 Kit 3 to 6 Volt | Lava Tube Ecig Mod - E Cig : Joye eGo & eGo-T | Boge Leo | Cartomizers | E-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes | eGo Tank

Phill's reviews always rock. Haven't found one yet that's not spot on.

It is the Lavatube. It's just marketed under a different name.

I'm not sure I'd consider it to perform "really well" when he shows the voltage drop-offs, but as long as you stick with SR stuff it should be fine.

Still, Derp, thanks for pointing out another really good deal on it. That's one of the contenders, assuming its got a decent warranty. Still wanting to see more about the new (NOT LT, totally different) Tox thingie before I buy LT, I think. Slightly pricier than the LT at its cheapest offering, but its definitely still in family of LT. Dying to hear from someone who's done both!

I actually like my vtube at 3.7 volts, lol. I had two 510 batteries before I got my vtube and I thought I wanted to hit the 5 volt range, because here on the forums everyone loves 5 volts. I also wanted to see what true 3.7 volt vaping felt like because I knew my 510 batteries weren't hitting 3.7 volts. It turns out I haven't found a juice that I truly enjoy at 5v. I do enjoy 4 volts for some juices, and 4.5 for even less juices, but some are good at these voltages. This is why I wanted a variable voltage for my first device. Now I know that if I had spent the $30 on a 5v box mod like I "should have" according to my money situation, I wouldn't be happy at all. :p

That tox looks exactly like my Vtube orachel... are you sure its not a vtube with a different name?

Plumes.91... Nope, I'm not sure at all its not the same thing. They're marketing the tox under different names at diff shops, just like the lt. Where did you get it, if you don't mind me asking? I'm still hunting for best deal and trying to decide if i want to go the tox... which looks pretty cool, but hasn't been reviewed by many, or the lt. Thanks!

Ok, am I cracked, or what? I'm having an off day, so not quite sure I trust myself. I just watched the review here....

VZ VV Tube Mod 510 Kit 3 to 6 Volt | Lava Tube Ecig Mod - E Cig : Joye eGo & eGo-T | Boge Leo | Cartomizers | E-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes | eGo Tank

And it seem like in the first 30 seconds, he says (paraphrasing) they ARE lava tubes, but since volcano's exclusivity ran out (i actually think they were just exclusive to the name, but I could be wrong) you can find them on any site.. that site calls them the VVVZ. If anyone else gets a different read off the first 30 seconds, please tell me I'm wrong!

Really dying to see a feature by feature comparison (or just good reviews of each done by same person, with their preferences) and PBusardo is the person I most trust, review wise. I'm looking for reviews of the TOX vv kit (or any of its other names, Howitzer, etc) compared to the LAVA TUBE (or any of its multitude of names). But thanks for the link to the review! I'm still considering lava as an option.

All these new devices that some call "Lavatube clones" are essentially the same device re-branded for the distributor. Lavatube is just the name that Volcano gave their version. If they hadn't had exclusivity on the device at first, I'm sure we would have seen all of these coming out at around the same time ;-) There may be some slight variations from one vendor's version to another (probably changes made by the manufacturer at the particular vendors' request in order to differentiate it slightly from the LT), I've seen this with other products that are distributed in this way, but in the end they are all pretty much the same thing

There is a NEW GUY, that is not simply another lava tube rebrand.... its being called the Vision TOX vv, also called the Howitzer (i'm sure it will have may other names, similar to lava tube rebranded under different names). The whole kit, including two vision stone tanks, is along the same price point as the LT kit... seems to be running about $89 with decent warranty, $69 without it. I'm VERY interested in any info anyone has on this, since I'm considering purchasing this INSTEAD of the LT, since it has both 18500 and 18350 tubes/batts included in the kit (18650 will be avail soon, for about $10 for the add on tube), so can be either regular size or mini, depending on which tube/batt you put on it on a given day. The display also looks superior to the LT... its a nice clear white number display, and has a few other functions, such as puff counter. Firing button is on the back, as opposed to the side. Anyone who's seen these at any distributors, please lemme know! Or if you've seen a review on one! Only thing I've seen so far is the 'first look' from the UK distributor.

the HOWITZER from ......... - YouTube I'm desperate for reviews, or places to purchase this at best price/warranty. Thanks!! Oh, btw, my fabulous clever friend Rick tracked down the orig offering from the manufacturer. Seems to be manufactured by Green Sound and they're calling it the GS-Sub.

It looks super cool. Only thing I prefer about the LT over this is the avail of chrome, silver and magenta, and guessing new colors will be out on this guy soon (someone said 2 new colors were out in korea). AND I was freaking over the lack of warranty. Is out at Gotvapes, comes w 3 vision stone clearo tank thingies for about $85 (on special for only 3 more days), but they don't have their warranty listed. Its at litecigusa for $69, but they've got only a 10 day warranty, and seem to be selling it with only 1 tank. So far, vaporheads is the only one I've found with a 6mo warranty, but they sell it for $89. So I was stressing the warranty, till CthulhuSaves (clever human!) posted this...
(quoted)
EDIT: Almost forgot. Everyone's talking about warranties, so I figured I'd point out that you could always grab an extended warranty from a secondary outfit. I just checked, and a 3-year warranty from Squaretrade only costs $10.99. To get that quote I simply listed the item under Misc Electronics and used LiteCig's 69.95 price (cheapest I could find so far). Warranty problem solved. I've used Squaretrade now for several years, and can verify they're a great outfit for warranties. If it breaks down (naturally, not through mishandling), they'll take care of you with no hassles, and an item in this price-range would automatically generate a simple payout, not repair, so you could just replace the unit. They usually don't try to repair things unless they cost, oh, something like 250 or 300 bucks or higher.
________________________________________________
based on that recommendation, here's what I think I'm gonna do...

So I'm gonna go with the best price/addons I can find, and just buy a 3 yr warranty for $11 at squaretrade. What a fabulous option! Anyone with pricey mods and so so warranties should check this out!!!

Anyway, hope that helps anyoe else who's hunting. That's all the info I've been able to compile on the Green Source - GS-Sub, aka Vision Tox, aka Howitzer in last 3 days hunting.

BTW, some of the features, such as changeable size, MUCH better brighter clearer display, easy to see/use batt usage display, puff counter, day and date display are much nicer than the lt, imo. Its not just another similar thing, made by diff manufacturer. BUT the vv functionality and restriction to 2.5 amperage thing seems to be pretty similar to LT, so anyone who was ruling OUT the lt based on that, probably won't want one of these, either. I've just heard rumblings to that effect, though, so don't hold me to it. I've yet to see a detailed review (like PBusardo's awesome LT review where he breaks down what ohm carto will go up to what voltage) on it. I did message Phil B on facebook... don't know if i'll get a response, since he doesn't know me from adam, but I gave him the link to the first view vid, as well as spec sheet on it from alibaba, and asked if he'd tried it or was planning a review on it anytime soon, or if he had a preference between this and LT. A few of the issues he mentioned in the LT review (such as plastic caps, button placement, hard to read display) seem to be addressed in this new guy, though. Crossing fingers someone reputable reviews it soon, cause I need to buy asap.

Ok I know the lavatube and provari have a digital read out.. are they the only tube mods that do? The provari is pass my price point so I'm guessing the lavatube is my only choice. I really don't want to be turning screws honestly, and I'm a technical guy. I want to know my favorite voltage settings and be able to get to it without guessing with how many turns of a screw.

Little background, I'll be using the VV for fun at home. My kgo for out and about. On the weekend I may bring the tube on an outing and all. I don't really want a box do to the hand feel and akwardness in my pocket. The box just seems a little strange to me.

You guys are awesome and have allways given me the best advice.

Or you could really go past your price point and buy a Darwin............By Evolv....Sold by NHaler.......

Ha thanks I've evolved a lot from that original post. I got a provari. Oh and I like box mods now. Having a VV box from Kens on the way for a back up for the provari and for trips. I was a different person back then haha.

You'll enjoy it, it's alot of fun. You turn up the voltage the juice actually tastes different, and you can still use your LR's. Right now I'm using a 2.0 at 4.1 It's a real good respectaple vape. But when use a 3.0 or +, wow.. just amazing. I don't really go above a 5. If it gets too warm I dont really like it. But I'll probably change my opinion later. Just have fun with it. You're in control now. One of the biggest deals is holding the voltage. Even at 4.3 for example. Every time you take a puff, it'll be 4.3 till the battery dies. How cool is that?

Ooh, trust me, I'd Luuuurve me a Darwin, but its so far out of my price range as to be laughable.

Not sure what you mean by 'hold voltage over the life of the battery'. It might do that better than the LavaTube. I know it revs up different than the lava.

I agree w EricHill... I hardly ever go over 5v. Honestly, I'm usually in the 3.9-4.5 range, personally. It just hits the sweet spot right there with most cartos/juices. And the thing about flavors is dead on. I'm vaping a lot of bakery flavors from the vapor room, and some of them are good on a 3.7 device (great even), but when you get em up around 4.25, suddenly you taste all these different nuances in flavor. You're gonna love it!
