So, I had to have a tooth extracted. I didn't have wisdom teeth - was born without them. Yay for in my teen years! But, I had 2 extra teeth on my top row in the back. Anyway, long story short I had one of them extracted. So, wasn't mentally prepared for it nor in any other way. So, since last Wednesday, no drinking from straws, carbonation, vaping, eating solids lol, coffee, hot drinks. You get the picture. Well my doc said yesterday I was pretty "clear" on all accounts but of course they are always so vague about smoking/vaping I guess because they are far superior and have never done such a thing. Anyone have any experience with this? I mean, I know the clot seems to be good or else they wouldnt' have cleared me. But, I still have a hole in my gum which is a little alarming. Just wondering what everyones thoughts are. Today is my first day back in the vaping saddle (and I mean just a few puffs) and I must admit, I thought I was going to murder someone in the past week lol. I've been overly dramatic walking around saying "give me nicotine or give me death!" which probably isn't the best thing to say.

Also, I got my new reo in on Wednesday - my assistant signed for it while I was in the dentist chair. I've just been sitting here looking at it every single day.

tomorrow makes 1 full week. they told me if I was to have a dry socket it would have happened on day 3-4. I called them back b/c I read on the internet that dry sockets are like 95% most common on bottom row teeth and mine was the top. They did confirm this as well. So, I think I'm in the clear of a dry socket but I just dont' want to get an infection either? that's the concerning part now. the nice thing about the reo is that it can hit pretty hard without me even having to suck on the end so to speak. I'm just firing it and holding it up to my mouth and letting it vape for me lol. I just didn't know if anyone else has ever had a tooth extraction to know what to expect. no clue on healing time.

Been there... Open your afc all the way to reduce vacuum which will cause "Dry Sockets" Dry sockets are caused by generating too much vacuum in your mouth causing the newly formed scab where a tooth once was to create an air pocket between your gums and the aforementioned scab, very bad and ultimately painful. Reduce vacuum by not drinking from a straw and not vaping.. If you must vape as I'm sure you do think slow deep lung hits with the afc wide open. Rinse often as directed and follow whatever other protocols your dentist/surgeon has prescribed. After 72-96 hrs and you have completely stopped bleeding you should be in the clear for the most part. Resume normal habits slowly, stop and back up a step or two if you see blood. Dry Sockets SUCK,

Mine quit bleeding after 24 hours. I've just had a big hole in my gum lol which is scary! I've been really good - did everything they said but called them earlier and they said that I should be in the clear. But, not sure why, I'm still skeptical. clearly I don't want to go backwards for sure.

Doh! You typed while I was typing... If you are a week in already and all bleeding has stopped you should be good...

Wisdom teeth are the worst! Non wisdom teeth are much less painful. I have had both. Stay away from sharp food for another week or so (Doritos, hard tacos, popcorn, anything with whole sharp spices fennel, rye, rosemary etc.. You are through the worst of it, relax and envision what is going on inside your mouth and you will be fine..

I was an oral surgery assistant for nearly seven years. At this point you are totally fine. As you said dry sockets are from first few days and dislodging the clot that's been made. Keep calm and vape on - and for God's sakes break out that REO already!!!! :D

Thank you! That is the first advice that has really made me feel more at ease. I think I *knew* I was in the clear - but it just felt funny vaping when things are recovering in my mouth so didn't want to mess things up! Thank you again!
