The problem with vaping in a theatre has nothing to do with vaping. If your enjoyment of something other than watching the movie is distracting others from watching the movie, then that is generally frowned upon...same with cell phone light, loud crinkly wrappers, talking etc...

I wouldn't personally vape in a theatre, but I would hope anyone doing it was doing it stealthy.

As many of us have stated time and again about vaping publicly, do so respectfully and with common sense. I believe it is possible to vape without distracting others in many situations.

I think I've been to a theater 3 times since I've been a vaper (of 2 years). IMO, there's several reasons why not to see a movie in a theater, but near the top is because it is 'their house their rules.' I love films, with a passion, and would prefer to watch certain films on the big screen. But not in today's current climate, at like $10 a ticket, with idea that people will talk during the film or eat noisily or whatever else people enjoy doing while watching a movie.

I have not vaped in a movie theater because currently stealth vaping is not something I engage in.
At home, or at a friend's, I'll vape away constantly and find that experience very enjoyable. Of all the non-vapers I've watched film/TV with, I'm yet to have someone even slightly indicate that the exhaled vapor was a distraction for them, regardless of the flavor. IMO, it would take a type of personality to be vocally annoyed by vaping while a movie is playing. At that level, if the playing field were equal, people would not be able to do a whole lot of stuff they (currently) do while watching a film.

Ok this place is packed...no dice on the vaping lol.

Are you texting this during the movie? JK.

As with anywhere else in public, if no one is going to notice, no one will be upset. Every one here has a line they feel right about not crossing. My line is not being noticed, or have my hands where they shouldn't be.

I saw Enders Game the other night and did a little stealth vaping - but it was just us and one other couple in the theater.

Remember back when the movies used to be packed? I so miss those days. The ANTZ have it all to themselves now, like ghost towns. Even the bowling ally's have closed down.
I've stealth vaped in the movies, no problem. One of these days there will be full theaters again, with 3/4 of us stealth vaping. :). Those who billow clouds will have to pay a 5 buck fine, on their second citation. I wonder if the price of movie going will decrease again once all of us old patrons start patronizing again.

You know, Steve, that addict comment has no place in situations like this. Newbies, especially, are terrified of going too long between puffs, which they KNOW produces the Jonesies. Being able to take a stealth puff as needed should never be frowned upon. What should be frowned upon is belittling and demeaning others to follow someone else's pattern or agenda. Sorry, if this sounds uppity, but it's the nicest I can sound at the moment.

I really have to agree with you. I AM an addict. I've been hooked on nicotine for over 20 years. I fell off the vaping wagon a while back, and I'm just recently back on it. I vape quite frequently because it stops me from going into a full-blown craving, which may lead me to another slip. I will stealth vape a few times in a 2-3 hour movie. I'm subtle enough that even my partner didn't notice me doing it.

I need to do what I need to do in order to stay with this healthy change.

That said, I do believe it would be rude to be really obvious about it (making lots of noise or blowing out big clouds), but if you're quiet about it, it's no more distracting than someone taking a drink from their soda.

I think I'd just wait two hours then hit the mod hard :)

But each to their own, I agree if you do it subtly it's not going to cause major issues.

Doing it in a plane though? That's all kinds of stupid. Even if you're 100% sure of your equipment (which you never can be), if people get the idea that that's OK, they'll start doing it with knock-off, unsafe batteries. One day, one of them *will* go up. They won't be able to just throw it out of the window.

Does that mean addiction to vaping is far worse than with smoking? I don't know anyone who smokes who can't go a couple hours without a cigarette.

Vaping in theaters leads to a 'concerned' citizen who sees it, says nothing, then, once home, e-mails or calls their local and state representatives telling them of the 'shocking' event. Said representative- who is always on the hunt for a popular distraction, proposes legislation prohibiting vaping where smoking is prohibited, classifies pvs as paraphernalia and looks at ways to tax e-nic- all because someone couldn't go 2 hours without a vape.

    I agree.
Some people seem to loathe themselves and automatically loathe - and try to insult and belittle - others who have something in common with them.

The best way to stop such nasty behavior towards others is to feel a little more affection for oneself. Which may be difficult, of course, given the reactions one receives after spewing nastiness at others. ;)

I find it saddening how many have been taken in hook line and sinker by the second hand smoke lies, and then try to push that same junk pseudo science on the vaping community. The human race should have been extinct by 1970 if that crap were true.

That being said, keep it discrete, don't fog the place up and you should be fine. Heck, if you have a popcorn or kettle corn flavored liquid you'll probably make the theater some extra money if people around you catch a whiff of it, which is fairly unlikely.

That is just BS, plain and simple. Bans and severe restrictions on vaping have nothing to do with people vaping openly but respectfully and with common sense. Way before you could find another vaper within 500 miles of each other and never in public, the zealots, FDA, Big Pharm and their lackeys in government were trying to ban vaping. The more that the public in general sees that vaping is not the same as smoking, by us doing so publicly but respectfully and being well prepared to educate people as to what vapor is and is not, the more the general public will perceive vaping in a positive light.

Are there always a few idiots in every locale who take it upon themselves to judge other's harmless behavior and interfere? - yes. Being concerned about and changing our respectful behavior because of the small, idiot extremist, is not the answer.

I'm addicted to nicotine, no question. If it were to become a handicap, however, I'd evaluate the situation and take action.

well, nobody is stopping you :D

Thank you very much for telling the truth
