So I was just sitting down at a table at a local park today vaping when a woman came up to me asking for a light. I explained that I don't smoke and that is an electronic cigarette. I had my 510 with my clearo out at the time. She asked how much something like this cost and I explained that I ordered my starter kit online for about $40. I sincerely hope this total stranger I met will convert to vaping. Maybe I should vape in public more often :) I am home for the summer in Central Wisconsin and more people around here need to catch on. Where I work, I see so many people walking around the parking lot with stinkies.

I carry my 510 tankomizer Altoids kit when out and about, and a Vision Nano or two. hear a lot of "I've been meaning to look into those.." happy to answer questions! when they ask how much a kit costs, and they cringe with whatever number I say.. just ask them "how much do you spend a month on cigarettes?" puts it into perspective, and a conversation/hopeful conversion begins...

I got off the bus to work in the morning and took out my eVic with the Vivi Nova and started vaping blowing thick fume of smoke. I didn't know a lady cop was behind me until she tapped me on the shoulder and asked "What is that? Is that what you called an e-cigarette?" I was surprised at first since I had my headphone on and thought I would have to sit down with my hands behind my back...again :)

I told her yes, this is an e-cig. She said that she saw me the day prior smoking while she was behind me and thought to her sef "Wow.. smoking this early" and then she realized that she didn't smell any smoke. She went on and said that she wants her brother who's been trying to quit smoking for years and started at the 17.

We walked 2 blocks talking about e-cig and she said that she will get one for her brother. It felt great to know that I may have helped someone quit analog and introduced them to vaping and had a lady cop guarded me all the way to my building.

heh - I buy Katana Kits from vape dojo 6 at a time. Then I carry one with me when I go outside to vape. this time around they lasted almost a week!! all 6 gone.
What I do is buy the kit for $12.99 and then get some tobacco flavored juice to go with them. Then I sell the kit and juice for $13. Yeah a slight drain for the juice, but a BIG profit in KARMA. :)

Haha, you'd be surprised. I was hiking in this 1000-acre preserve the other day when I ran into a middle-aged man who wanted to know about ego-style/T3 setup. He saw I had my day bag, noted that I was pretty well-equipped for just being out there and asked me if I was doing the full 8 miles (not a lot of people do because of the heat and several-mile stretches of soft sand, so you don't see too many people carrying things like food and water. There's a 3-mile loop and a 5-mile loop... ...most of the people I see out there do the 3.) I told him that I was indeed. He said that it was pretty impressive for a smoker to be taking on both loops in a single trip. He said that he used to be able to go on hikes like that but hasn't in years because of his smoking. I think he must have seen me vaping from a distance and thought I was smoking. I explained to him that I wasn't smoking and that it was an electronic cigarette. That was when his head exploded. He summoned me over to the shade and asked me to explain. I had brought some juice along with a spare setup, so I gave him the whole spiel while I showed him how it worked. As I was filling up the T3, he noted that it was a lot simpler than he though it was. I let him take a couple of puffs. He seemed pretty surprised at how good it was, though he wasn't into the button. "Believe me, you get used to it." I assured him with a smile. He asked me where I could get something like that and how much it would cost. That was perhaps when he was totally sold. I gave him a couple of business cards and sent him on his way. For all that I know, he's lurking here as I type this!

I also had "the talk" with the owner of a local liquor store when I was looking for everclear. When I told her what I was using it for, she was like, "Okay, wait, tell me more..." So I broke out my setup, gave a demonstration and ran her through the basics. She asked me a few questions about how it was working for me, how long I had been using it, if I had smoked since switching, if I was really feeling any better, etc.. After chatting for about 5 minutes, she explained to me that she and her daughter were trying to quit but had little success sticking with the blu kit. She thought my ego-style setup looked like something you use for other substances, but was curious. I explained to her that there were other options out there that are worlds better/cheaper, to which she responded "Clearly!" I gave her a smokeless image business card with a 15% discount code as well as the addys for MBV and ECF written on the back and encouraged her to look into it. I went back there a few weeks later actually buying alcohol for drinking and she showed me her pink volt cigalike. "Why didn't you tell me about the COLORS?!" was the first thing she said to me. She quite emphatically went on and on about how well it was working, how cheap it was, etc. Last I heard, she was looking into stocking them in her store! Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Moral of the story: ALWAYS carry business cards and never assume that there aren't people who are legitimately interested in vaping not vaping. You'll never have the opportunity to see otherwise if you only stealth!

Well I vape in public all the time. Still have not had any random curious smokers. best I've got was fellow vapers asking about my Vamo in a bar. But I am never without a business card for the company that got vaping to stick for me and a willingness to answer any question I know the answer to.

after doing this for almost 2 years i really am just sick and tired of all the questions ...i mean in the begining I just wanted to convert everyone but the reality is im tired of hearing the questions and having to go through the whole thing....they always inevitably tell me that they've tried one "but not one like THAT" ...i use a Legacy with tanks....or my MVP ...they will comment on the clouds and compare them to a Logic they got at the convenience store

i hate it but i still give them the info and tell them about ecf and this odd subculture lol

Obviously your new friend has never smoked. 99% of smokers reach for a cig as soon as their eyes open. I know I did.

Since we now have 5 shops locally, word is getting around pretty well here in my little corner of the world. I will occasionally get questioned though. I am always happy to give as much or as little information as they seem to want.

Last night was an exception though. My brother in law is camping at the state park with his family. We went to have dinner with them and were sitting around the camp site after dinner. A woman walked up with a handful of wet dollar bills asking if any of us smoked. She had walked into the bay and her cigs got wet, and she was going site to site looking for someone to buy a cig from. I kept my ∞ pro in my pocket until she left. I did not feel like trying to explain PVs to someone who was drunk enough to get at least waist deep in the bay without knowing she was getting wet.

 I have noticed lately with my obese Lava Tube that there is basically two kinds of people especially when it comes to cops and politically correct control freakaziods. They are either open for learning or closed for the duration of their life.

When I come across a 50's Baby boomer, staunch conservative born-again with a badge it's a disaster, most want to get on the cell phone and get me done!!!! Then the other types being more of an agnostice science mind with a high objective filter on full force are more then happy I am trying to quit tobacco witch is why I am allowed to vape at the college I work for [discreatly].

This fear of a podunk cop witch is nothing more then a procreative mistake from kissing cousins catching me puffin this "Billy Club" called a lava tube is getting old. I know I'm going to get whacked by one of these 9 dollar an hour ...... with a badge and a gun.

A small number of cops are cool they are the younger objective willing to learn types and I even spotted one vaping a blue cig. But after asking them if the department has educated the force about the vapor machines we use and the [censored buzz word] that the outlaws use and he said yes we are well informed.
Well how do explain this one cop that gave me the pat down, lecture and name calling not mentionable here [forum rules certain buzz words can't be used].
He simply said some older guys got their mind made up, if a battery is connected to a heating element you are a [buzzword removed].

So bigotry, stigma and narrow minds make vaping out loud a real challenge in a Barny Fife type town even if the cops have been educated to the facts, a mystic mind does not make decisions based on facts, they live in a mind created reality world full of anger and false misnomers about these things they try to create reality instead of perceiving it.

Witch is why I can't openly vape in a park or public.

Not to destroy anyone's stereotypes, but I'm 66 years young, vaping two years and have introduced vaping to 39 v-verts thus far. Most have been in their early 20s. And a third of 'em were/are ***heads.

Yes. All old people suck. None of us can learn anything new, and we all think vapers are ***heads.

Obviously. And it's all conservative older people too. Notably religious ones. Because we all know that lefties or other types have nothing whatsoever to do with trying to control people's choices via PC rules, vaping bans, soda bans, etc. Now excuse this grandma, because Ima go vape some big clouds on my big honkin' Provari, then take it WITH me to go pick up my granddaughter, maybe smile and cheerily wave at some cops on the way, while thanking God I discovered vaping.

Aaaaaand I'm still chuckling to myself here. There's something amusing about someone basically posting "How dare those knuckle-dragging, stodgy, God-bothering, closed-minded hick, country, uneducated, inbred types that old people tend to be stereotype me!!!!"

:vapor:

That said, I do understand your frustration, cowboy. If you are young, you are more likely, I think, to be looked at suspiciously by cops and others for all sorts of behavior, not just vaping. Whereas they might not look twice at me.

Yes, Marti, Iffy, and Chellem. Being 64, soon to be 65 next month, I've shocked a few young'uns in my time. For instance, young people in their late teens and early 20's are left with their mouth open when I tell them I've played World of Warcraft now for more than 5 years and have probably whooped their rear ends during the game more than once. Then when I take out my pv and puff away they just laugh or stare speechless. I don't prosletyze about vaping unless they ask me.

I am 60 and love vaping on my Reo mini or Vmod :D

I do still have some V2 ecigs that i keep with me and use sometimes in public but bottom feeders are what i prefer. I pass out cards and answer questions. So far my encounters with other vapers is limited to one IRL and he was just as surprised as me! Especially since i was carrying different types of devices that he never saw before. I gave him a link to ECF.
