ok so let me just say I'm new to PVs and vaping for tobacco replacement...I've been using a Da Budda herbal vaporizer for years, and I made herbal vaporizers before that...since around 2002.

E-cigs have allowed me to continue enjoying almost every aspect of my tobacco habit with very few compromises and I must say they have come a long way in the last decade or so since I tried gas station disposables. My question is, with all of the options for different setups and the veritable mountain of information regarding classifications, hardware choices, e liquid varieties, and the like, why does it seem that asking questions at my local vaping store or other online venues is always met with bristly replies, patronizing non-answers, and a general lack of helpfulness tinged with too-cool-for-school attitude?

It makes me wonder less why PVs aren't ubiquitous and analogs seem to still be. People are killing themselves all around us and, while not a perfect solution, PVs could help a lot of people out like me who were almost hopelessly addicted to combusting tobacco even with the knowledge of it's mortal repercussions.

With that said, I'm hopeful that THIS community will be less judgmental, friendlier, and easier to glean knowledge from than my previous experiences. I'm happy to be here...

I think you'll find that everyone on ECF is very friendly and willing to answer your questions fully. Read all of the Stickies and you'll have many of your questions answered there. It's when you start talking about vaporizing "herbal" that you'll find a cold shoulder here. That may be what's happening elsewhere, too. The vaping community has gotten a really bad name because of that and most vapers avoid the subject completely. Discussion of "herbal vaping" is not welcome on ECF.

That's where you ran into trouble before, FailRated... ya didn't come here first! :)
This is absolutely the friendliest vape community that I've ever found. Most of us do not mind breaking things down for newer members to make sure that they understand what they have and how to get to where they want to be. Of course, as anywhere else, attitude is met with attitude, but we try to be as helpful as possible. The mods and admins are super cool too... but if you get on their bad side, you will be corrected. Stick to the rules that you agreed to when you signed up, and you'll be fine.

As for helpfulness, check out the link in my signature. There is a member here that goes by the name of "Baditude"... He is awesome and has taken the time to type up all kinds of helpful tips for us. I linked to his blog posts in my signature to make it easy to find for reference. Give it a click and read through... you'll be glad that you did :)

Oh! And welcome aboard. Ask any questions you want and tell us what you're vaping now!

Yeah you CAN NOT talk about "the other stuff"!! It's not allowed and the post police will moderate it before you can blink.

Foul language is a no no as well. Other than that you'll be good.

The only time you may get some heat is if you're doing something dangerous, like building ridiculous builds on batteries that can't support it.

The problem seem to be that folks are sick & tired of having products that saved their lives, or improved their health bashed by the uninformed and/or demonized by health and government agencies trying to line their pockets with cigarette tax & settlement monies.

So please excuse us if we get a little defensive once in a while.

On this site we try to stay on topic (most of the time), not bash others, and keep it family - work place appropriate.

Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast on some forums as a result of the people involved. I am an active member on the Kansas City Royals message board - yes, the baseball team that recently played in the World Series for the first time in 800 years. While a majority of the folks there are very nice and enjoyable to chat with there are a handful of bad apples who spoil the whole atmosphere by being know-it-alls and seem to get a kick out of arguing for the sake of, well, arguing. What's worse is that they are extremely derogatory and often resort to bullying tactics such as name calling and the belittling of others which is easily done when sitting behind a computer screen. . .

I've only been a member here for a few days and so far everyone has been quite respectable and beyond helpful in answering my questions. One person even went so far as to offer to send me a new set of lungs. Okay, I made that part up. . .

Often, when I visit a new vape shop, I walk in holding a 650mAh ego with a CE4.

What happens after that is often quite interesting. Last time, as an example, after I'd been patronized about vaping 'tobacco' flavours and saying 12mg was plenty for me, I asked to try some liquid.

...which was the moment when I got out a Nemesis with a Plume Veil and 0.75ohm dual coil.

    :)

Yeah I ran into the same thing when starting out luckily I found ECF about a week into actually vaping. As for your question you were just in the wrong place. This site is full of very knowledgable helpful peopl . I've seen threads (one in particular ) go over 50 pages with a dozen or so people day and night holding someone's hand because they were having problem after problem.
Everyone here does everything they can to keep others from going back to analogs. For me personally it wasn't the equipment or the right juice that helped me quit. That stuff helped but ECF got me on the right path and helped me any time I had a problem

I came here about a week after I started vaping and all I can say is these people really kick ...!
I learned more in the first day than I did in months of researching it out before trying it. Posts by Kaezziel and Bad especially!
Not only do all my questions get answered but they have opened up totally new doors to the hobby that I never new existed... Now I am attempting to build my first coils... not much luck but it is getting there ... they made this whole thing just fantastic!

Stay away from banned subjects and respect all. This place has me on the right track, I read here almost daily and post when I know the answer or can shed insight from my own limited experience. This is the best forum I've ever been on as far as friendly helpful people go. Just enjoy and learn.

Side note to Droopy......go Bassets ( got 2 myself)
