i never said anything about "cotton particles" and i see a lot of talk of "inhaling Silica particles" but no one wishes to share a link to a study that would even suggest we are inhaling silica particles. cant seem to find anything that would suggest we are inhaling silica particles.

Huh? You never ended up with a throat full of silica? The stuff falls apart in your hands... you don't think it ends up in your lungs? don't need a study for that!

all of the studies we have right now are done on off the shelf ready to vape items that use silica for wick or cartomizers. no large scale vendors are currently offering cotton as a wicking maternal. here is a link for a number of studies done on off the self vape gear. Lab Reports: ecigarettes

now this is gold Metals and nanoparticles in e-cigarettes-Commentary

I can only assume why a company would not use "Cotton" as a wicking material off of the shelf. My guess is because it burns if not properly saturated and be rendered completely useless. As with silica it can take heat even if dry (may taste like ....) but is still usable to a certain point of being burned dry.

I spent close to 50 years sucking burning paper, tobacco and 4000 assorted toxic chemicals into my lungs. I'm not about to worry about a little cotton. Of course, that's just me . . .

and that is totally fine! im not saying people should not vape on cotton wicks, people should do whatever makes them happy. what im saying is that you are introducing another factor with unknown hazards into the equation if you are vaping on cotton wick.
to go around telling people that vaping on cotton is just as safe as OR safer than silica is wrong because we lack information that would prove it.

That's right; it would be irresponsible to be selling atomizers off the shelf to the general public with cotton wicks in them.

There's a learning curve, and dry hits are common for new vapers; people are going to push the button on a dry tank just fiddling around to see how the thing works.

Hi. Considering that in 10-15 ml the microcoil is a lot black in the center, and in particular also the cotton around it is a lot black, I think that the cotton partially burns, and somehow it releases toxic particles. I ask you wich could be theese particles, if we absorb big quantities about those and, most important, if there is one or more studies about what is inhaled with cotton heated at 400°. Thanks.
Silica wick is made for this temperatures, cotton not, so I m a bit scary about what is released with this last material.

If your burning your cotton your not wicking properly. Also, I am reluctant to invite you to the enlightenment of the " rayon wick" thread, but if you want to learn a bit about wicking material, and get a better vape in the process, check it out. Have a nice day.

Some pics of micro silica amphorous particles in throat please.

Sounds like your saying we get inch long strands into our lungs, lol.

So yes we DO need a study to prove it. But no matter as our silica is Amphorous....

Exactly why I just ordered unflavored juice. I'd much rather take the unnecessary flavorings out of the equation which has a bunch of different unknown chemicals in it than worry about cotton. That's just me though. I smoked cigarettes for 15 years and those taste like burnt crap. I'm sure a unflavored slightly sweet vapor would be just as good.

Exactly... the flavors are where the health problems are likely to come from... anyone worried about health effects would be wise to drop them... maybe the fda will do that for us

Toxic particles eh? What are the toxins in them? Where did you get this information? Which peer reviewed study says this? Might you be able to provide a link to the peer reviewed research on the toxins you claim to be in the cotton used for wicks? Or, is this just something you *think* is real, when it's really all in your imagination?

I see this kind of alarmism quite often on ECF lately, and I've grown not only skeptical of it when I see it now, but suspicious of it as well, because of the FDA's clear agenda to villianize vapers and vaping. That they are here and posting is a given. It's the biggest vaping forum online, and they would just love to sow the seeds of alarm and doubt among us, as much as they'd like to frighten potential new vapers away. I've come to regard all such posts as just more FDA disinformation and propaganda in service to their corporate handlers and the profits thereof.

A thousands ways to die lol, just about everything's bad for you these days , since weed has been legalized in certain States many would have you believe it's the deadliest drug in the world , i believe the DEA has it listed under class I , what a complete joke .

If you want to live your life worried about everything and anything knock yourself out but lets stop being paranoid and scaring others without cold hard facts, potentially or maybe's don't cut it.
