Vaping habits vs smoking habits? Are yours as different as mine?

Hi all....just wondering if my newly found vaping habit is similar to how you all behaved in the beginning too. :)

Basically....I am day 6 off analogs, but since I've been vaping, I am literally constantly vaping! I used to have a cigeratte every hour or so, but with these tasty e liquids, its hard to put the stuff down! Did you guys find yourself doing the same early on? Did your habit ever change once the excitement & "newness" was over?

Just curious if my behaviors have been "normal" Haha.

Hi Daniele,
I was in the same boat. I was a pretty heavy smoker but even heavier vaper. I dont put it down either. I find that I vape way more then I ever smoked but since it is a lot safer, I dont mind. It is not uncommon. I have been analog free for more then a year and instead of decreasing, I am increasing.

I go through about 6 to 8 ml's of eliquid a day. I feel that is a large amount. There are some people on the forums that are higher then me. As far as the ratio compared to smoking, it is difficult. When you vaporize nicoten you are not ingesting nearly as much as smoking. Some people say that for every 15 to 20 drags that equals one cigarette. But that is not true as they are ingesting differently. I have also read some people saying that no matter how much vaping you do in a day, that is not even equal to one cigarette. So you have people saying one end of the spectrum to the other end. I am no scientist or doctor but no that no fire means no carcinogens. Less chemicals equals better. So just vape away. Not that nicoten is good for you but the thousands of other cancer causing chemicals are eliminated.

I vape non stop, all day, every day. I even sit a PV next to me when I go to bed so I can reach over and vape before falling asleep and also in the middle of the night if I wake up. I vape first thing in the morning, before my morning leak even. The flavor is good, and it's making me healthier by doing it. I drink water in the mornings now instead of soda or coffee. I drink water all day now. My life is improving, and that in itself makes it okay with me that I'm spending so much money.

HaHa, when I'm on the couch it only leaves my hand when I'm reloading.

At work I take the normal "smoke" breaks and do not
vape on the "floor".

While driving it's sorta the same as the couch, but in both instances I puffed the cigs
almost constantly.

I don't know if it would be possible to vape more than I do even if I wanted.
I need to find another "hobby" if I want it out of my hand more.lol.

Cheers Hitme:vapor::vapor:

Haha...this is great! Sounds like we are all in the same boat here. Yes...my e cig does not leave my hand...even when I go to bed, like someone else said. I wake up in the middle of the night and take a puff! I work at home, so it literally is going ALL day. Too funny. I'll take it...no more carcinogens and tar for me.

The only thing that really changed between smokes and the ecig is that I'm using it at my desk at work.

I'm an avid gamer. I play a lot of first person shooters at my desk in the evenings, especially in winter / cold months. I was smoking a pack and a half a day, sometimes two packs, and this was generally how it went:
4 or 5 in the morning with coffee while surfing the net
3 in the truck over a 30 minute commute to work
8 at work - 2 on four separate occasions
15 to 20 at my desk in the evening

I'm also the type of guy who got tired of smoking the damn thing after 4 or 5 puffs, but finished it anyway because it was a waste to throw it out and made everything smell terrible if you stuck it back in the pack half smoked.

It appears as though I vape more than I smoked, but only because I'm vaping at my desk at work. When I'm not at my desk, I'm not using it, and I'm not cramming 40 to 50 drags in to a 15 minute time frame like I would on each smoke break...so honestly I may be breaking even at work. At home I'm using it less than I was smoking, for sure. There is no dangling cigarette between my lips at all times while my hands are busy strafing and shooting. Instead I take a drag while I'm respawning...in the extremely rare case that I die that is .

This summer will be interesting. We do a lot of camping, and we'd go through 7 or 8 packs of smokes over the course of a 2 day camping trip. Probably 4 cigarettes an hour while fishing. Man, I was really allowing smokes to run my life, and I'm so happy to be done with that. I get more flexibility with the ecig, I can take a drag here or there, but in the end I'm still hooked on something. I might not like the fact that I'm hooked on something, but that can be fixed with time. Vaping certainly doesn't have the stranglehold on me that smoking did and still sort of has.

I peaked at around 2 packs of smokes a day, so I'd say I'm probably around the same spot. When I'm at work I generally will only vape once an hour, and only a few hits at a time. I manage a restaurant and frankly the customers would get a little scared if they saw plumes of vapor too frequently. At home I vape through a passthrough and it never leaves my hand unless I'm refilling or doing enough work to distract me.

Honestly I'll say that vaping is far more enjoyable than smoking was. If a song comes up on my playlist that elicits nostalgia, nothing really seals that great feeling like vaping. I'm starting to go through all of my smoking habits and make sure I replace them with good hits from a fresh carto. Driving in the car, volt in my mouth. Walking down the street, volt in my mouth. After a meal, volt in my mouth.

I also find that it's very easy to get excited about different aspects of vaping. I spend a lot of time looking over reviews of products, trying to find the next device I'm going to use, or checking out recommendations for eliquid. With cigarettes, you just walked to the store and bought a few packs, nothing special about that.

half pack to maybe 20 per day smoker for 25 years. Started vaping beginning of December and definitely like you, vaping like a train!! Almost three months into it, dialing things in, finding products that work, doing a LOT of research, tweaking tanks, carto's, clearo's, you name it, I think I have just reached a new stage where I'm actually vaping less!! Not to say I'm not getting the same satisfaction by vaping less by any means. I think I attribute it to the FINALLY's or at least FINALLY (for now):

1. Narrowed down e-juices that I really like, nicotine levels and VG/PG ratio's.
2. Narrowed down the tanks that I use (Stardust/Vornado's and most likely Vision Mini's)

Now it seems I get MORE satisfaction with less vaping, if that makes any sense. I noticed that when I was on the cartridges, dripping, i'd vape all day! It was enjoyable but I think the delivery wasn't as effective...moving to these tank types along with the hardware being used, dialing in voltage to ohm's and pinpointing the juices must be doing it. Hope that helps and anyone else here experiencing it like I am?

I was about to post a similar question today as I went to bed late last night so I could stay up and vape. I just love it! I hope it's ok to vape constantly, because I have been. If I am not actively vaping, I am holding my pv. sigh I am utterly unqualified to tell you if my habit changed when the newness was over because I am a really new vaper. I am also really excited to be off of analogs, so there you go. :vapor: I hope this is normal...

Yep, my pv is as essential a part of my apparel as my glasses. It's the second thing I pick up in the morning (after my specs) and the second to last thing I take off at night ( just before my specs!) When it's not on my lanyard, it's in my hand (as it is right now).
In fact, I would be far more upset to lose my pv than lose my phone! I would have said my specs, but unfortunately they're like .. my eyes. Can't see a thing without them! How would I refill my pv? :)
