Hello All,

I am very curious to hear fellow vapers stories', thoughts etc. on vaping in the workplace. I have read numerous posts of people that are afraid or hesitant to do it (I am included).

Now I am not talking about vaping outside in the smoking area or lounge with traditional cigarette smokers, I mean actually vaping IN the workplace.

Anybody have any good anecdotal stories, tips or thoughts on this? Wondering if anybody has run up against specific company policys regarding it.

If I do decide to vape inside the workplace I don't want to be seen as hiding or sneaking something if you know what I mean.

Thanks!

The general public, and many vapers are woefully misinformed or uninformed and equate vaping with smoking.

You can't smoke at work. But you aren't smoking.

Workplace rules are not something I have to worry about, but anywhere else, unless I see a sign that says vaping is prohibited, I assume it's OK. After all, it's *not* smoking in any way shape or form.

Vaping gets too tied in with smoking. Part of that certainly has to be related to the poorly chosen name for these things. Call it an e-cig and people think it's a cigarette. Imagine that....

How you handle it is ultimately up to you, and nobody knows your employer like you do. But considering the dangers they say are in second hand smoke, I cannot understand any employer wanting to force their non-smoking employees to expose themselves to the risks. Just sounds like future liability problems to me.

I suppose it depends oh the kind of job you have. I am a baker and while i am not smoking, people walking past might see it as that. Would you want someone blowing smoke into your bread lol Its all about public image, honestly i can understand that. in a large coperation you have to please the public. Now we know you will never please all the people all the time but you gotta try.

I guess i dont worry about it as much since i was never slowed to smoke analogs at work, i am used to waiting. Besides smoke vreaks get me outta of the store for a few minutes lol

I'm in a vape-friendly work enviornment and nearly all the smokers have converted to vaping. New rule a few months ago that we need air purifiers in our office or workstations to vape indoors. I anticipate more rules. There's a lot of 100% VG vaping with mods going on. The clouds of vapor - you can imagine. The GM vapes so I don't think they'll ban us but we may have to use high PG or maybe only small minis for at-work vaping. Or arghhh... go back outside to the smoke pit. Gosh I hope not.

I work in a typical large corporate cubicle farm. Just read 'Dilbert" to see what my life is like...:p

Luckily, my immediate work group all think it's great that I gave up analogs for the e-cig...but...We're all equally convinced that the 'Powers that be' would lump e-cigs in with analogs as far as company policy goes. They have not yet addressed e-cigs in the policy.

"Officially" I treat my e-cig like an analog and only use it out in the designated smoking areas...and it is a nice break to get away from my desk. I do however occasionally stealth vape. My cube is away from the main walkway and there is an area behind me that is not occupied. I have a small desk fan that blows the vapor that direction. As long as I don't produce a 'cloud' rising over the walls, no one can tell I'm vaping. I also don't vape tobacco flavors at the desk, so the 'aroma' won't draw too much attention. Also I just vape a few hits at a time and not for long periods.

I figure if I ever do get caught, since it's not a true 'health hazard', it won't be treated as a major infraction. Supposedly, one or two other people in the building were 'caught' vaping (a nosey neighbor complained) and they were just told to only use them in the smoking areas.

So I'm going the 'Ask for forgiveness rather than permission route'.

In some workplaces, that may not be a good idea though...YMMV.

I work in a call centre, for Rogers communication.
When I had the blu i showed my Team Manager and he was cool with it, but we were in a more secluded section.

Now we moved to a more open area, so I only vape after 7pm on weekdays when they all leave, and weekends i can go all out.

No one says anything, and if they do they just ask and that's all =)

If you are a desk monkey like me I would recomend a passthrough. You can get a kick but 5v one from madvapes for like 16bucks. I even keep mine at work. I recomend you get an AC adaptor and just plug it in. I even use a small extension cord. I recomend the adaptor becouse you sould never plug a your passT. into a USB thats not on a laptop. That and it drains laptop batteries. The whole point of a passthrough is so you dont have to mess with batteries. Some 3 ohm cartos and cool looking drip tips and you are all set.
