I didn't realise vapour set off smoke alarms, that's interesting!
It depends. Most cigarette smoking won't set off a smoke alarm. And tootle puffers won't do it either. But if you are vaping and making clouds with something like an RDA and a mod that generates a lot of power, you can easily set them off, especially in an enclosed space. It is doable if you open the windows, though.

Lazer Sensing smoke detectors are very sensitive to vapor! These detectors are common in public buildings, offices, and dormitory hall ways. Heat detecting variants are very difficult to set off with vapor (I never have). While living in the dorms, my room had a heat detecting version. Humidity would set it off, but my vapor never did!

That said, certainly do not vape anywhere besides the privacy of your own home unless you have gotten explicit permission from the person in charge.

I will add that many flavors bother other people's sinuses, pineapple (and other citruses) being the most common ones to do so. Also, vaping big clouds leaves an invisible layer of greasy film on many surfaces, especially glass. This film is the VG within the vapor returning to its previous state before atomization! Once this film starts to build up, surfaces will collect dust much more quickly. Clean your vape room often!

A lazer detector has metal grating surrounding the unit. A heat detector is much more compact and common. Be vigilant ;)

Cheers.

In my house... sure. (I never smoked indoors, not for 20 years).

In an indoor place with other vapers... sure.

Just cracking on in a restaurant or shop or whatever... no, not for me.

HOWEVER, at work it'll come down to the 'house rules'. If you have a work area you can vape in that couldn't possibly annoy anybody, then stopping you on the grounds it's similar to smoking is the biggest pieces of BS ever. Second hand vapor is not a problem... not unless it's on the grounds of sickly strawberry custard smell. :)

So what about vaping outdoors? In public spaces? What's the deal with that, surely that is okay?

Okay guys, cos my boss thinks I should go outside, but I've only been using a standard e cig with a 400mAh battery and others in the office don't mind because they know I'm trying to give up. That's a shame Sanctuary Denied, sadly I think it's gonna be the same story here.
If the boss says go outside, then that's just the way it is. Unfortunately most people see it as "if it looks like smoking, then it must be smoking".
My boss came into my computer hut in our warehouse after I vaped a stinky one. He asked me if I was "smoking", I said no and waved my hand around my .... and said sorry. Without another word he turned around and walked out. Didn't see him for a couple of hours..... Moral of the story, just be careful if you decide to stealth vape. ;)

If the bar allows smoking yes. If they do not allow smoking generally no unless you ask first and they say ok.

In the UK, there is a 100% ban on smoking in bars.

There is no law to stop anybody vaping, as they haven't written one, yet. It is totally legal, but the argument won't wash no matter how much you claim asylum.

My boyfriend and I do it inside of his house (he is a former cigarette smoker and did NOT smoke in the house because of the smell) and I do it in my home. I seem to have no issue setting off detectors or getting a nasty scent on fabrics. I don't do it indoors in public places, though, just out of respect. I don't know if vaping (like smoking) isn't allowed at most public places, but I just don't do it. ;)
