So I might be nipping to the toilet for a stealthy vape in the office then. But I think putting a ban in place for vaping indoors just because of the smell is like banning someone from somewhere for the aftershave they are wearing. Not gonna lie that's probably happened in a few bars in London, but c'mon!

Most bars around here won't let you vape. For one thing, bartenders get tired of telling all of the non smokers that the vapers aren't smoking.

I don't vape anywhere where smoking isn't allowed. Just to be on the safe side of the confusion.

That said, I'm actually the boss where I work, and I allow myself to vape in my office when there aren't any clients around. At that, it's just a 180 mAh cigalike. I was actually tootling on it a couple of weeks ago, in the outdoor smoker's corral, when the office park manager asked me "Can't you do that in your office?" I was a bit surprised, and said "I don't know, can I? It's definitely not addressed in the lease."

He gave me the OK. I still try to not do it enough to cause stickiness top build up anywhere. It's kind of like an air freshener, actually, since my "office vape" is always key lime w/spearmint.

So what about vaping outdoors? In public spaces? What's the deal with that, surely that is okay?

Depends on the laws in your area. For the past year my town has been trying to pass a ban on both smoking and vaping in public. What's worse this ban is more invasive than the state's public alcohol drinking ban in that you wouldn't even be allowed to sit outside, on your own property, and vape.

Stealth vaping in a bathroom stall should be fine with the set up you have. If you ever upgrade though, you can basically kiss this little luxury goodbye

You can get away with it if you're careful. While in the stall, don't take in quite so much, hold it in, and don't blow in a direction that's plainly visible (maybe into some tissue?).
Too big of a cloud and if they don't know what your doing they might recommend you see a doctor

Toilet seat vaping may be the route I have to take with my PT job. I'm currently the only vaper and boss lady wants me outside with the smokers. This isn't so bad in warm, dry weather - especially when there are smokers present. Their smoke helps mask the stench of sewage the company is allowed to dump into the nearby river.:nah:

If I'm by myself, I usually have to pull out the analogs. It's so bad I can't taste my vape.

Of course if the town does pass this ban, I'll probably have company.

I vape indoors at home, and can see no reason not to. I live alone, no one is going to be bothered, however when it comes to vaping indoors elsewhere I take pains to respect the wishes of those who's space it is. I do not vape anywhere I would not have smoked. There are indoor bars here where smoking and vaping are permitted, and those are the ones I go to. There's one nearby where neither are permitted, so I don't go there. Here in Cape Coma vaping is ubiquitous, and businesses know that. Those that can allow it because it's good for business.

Setting off the smoke detectors also has to do with the type of detectors they have.

I vape inside my house and in my car. (places I would never have smoked)

I think I read somewhere that parents can be fined if they smoke in their car with their children (in some cities) and since vaping is considered the same in some cities, that is a problem for some.
I do not live in one of those cities and I no longer have children under the age of 18.

In Texas if you vape in a car with a child that is required to be in a car seat you can be fined and required to take a state-approved parenting class.

Thanks for posting that!!

Just makes me shake my head!!! It is amazing that any of us survived childhood without all these laws and regulations!!

I vape in my house and vehicle, though I smoked only in the vehicle, not in the house. My husband has no issues with it. I vape in my parents' and my aunt's home, none of them are smokers, and they have no issue with it, in fact both my mom and my aunt will lean over to catch the cloud, to see what it smells like, my stepfather will come over and check it all out when I'm refilling, so HE can catch the smell of it.

In public places, I stealthvape, unless given explicit permission to go ahead and vape; what I do behind a bathroom stall is no one's biz but mine. In some places you can stealthvape without resorting to the bathroom, if you're careful.

2nd hand vapor presents no danger to anyone; it's pretty much the same as breathing air, though a) big clouds might annoy people, and b) some vapes don't smell too good.

The only time I set off a smoke detector vaping was at my sister's house when I was smooshing myself between a chair & a wall to get back to my seat at the card table. The chair I was smooshing past a) was directly beneath the detector and b) held my sis's boyfriend, let's just say we don't get along, he scooted backwards instead of forwards and the vape got exhaled rather explosively straight up. It was all the funnier because he's a major vapehater. Unfortunately my sis loves him. Ah well, she told me I don't have to baby him the way she does, so I still go visit. (PSA: they don't live 2gthr thank God, so it's her house & rules, not his, and she vapes too)
