I go to a dance class twice a week, and know the other ladies there quite well. One of them quit smoking a few days before me (just over a week ago), and she's using the patch. After we got out of class yesterday, she asked me what I was using, so I showed her my e-cigarette (and demonstrated). She looked very longingly at it (she's obviously suffering), so I asked her if she wanted to try it. She said, "no, that would be cheating". What??

But she continued to look at it longingly. Oh well ...

She will be back to smoking in no time! When I quit smoking by vaping I also felt like I was cheating. Cheating because it was so easy to quit cigs that way. The first two days I was vaping I only had two cigs each day...down from 1-1 1/2 packs a day. After that no more, except for one cig a week later just to see if I still liked them. I did, but didn't need them anymore. I was so happy. It will be 3 years for me Feb 7th. BTW I had smoked for 55 years and figured I would never quit. Surprise!!

I quit smoking July 14, 2006, after about 20 yrs of Marlboro Reds. I remember the day (and the hr) because it is my twin brother and sisters' birthday. I suffered with the nicotrol gum and chewing pepper corns , because i was broke at the time. Gas stations and the Walgreens started selling these 'ecigs' around here about a year after i quit. I never really looked into them, and thought that the concept was so strange.
Little over three years ago, i was pulling a graveyard shift. I fell in love with nicotine when i was an undergrad because it is the ultimate stimulant, along w coffee. Chomping thru nicotrol wasn't helping me on graveyard, tho. Ran up to the Sheetz to pick up dinner for me and my partner. Bought a Blu, on a whim. My God, what IS this magical thing, lol. Got into rebuildables about six months after that.
vaping is glorious!! I run, skate a few shifts of hockey now and again, and have an appetite. And the rebuilding aspect keeps my hands and my mind busy.
You are quitting what is one of the WORST addictions to try to recover from. And vaping is most definitely, a valid way to do that. And it is SO successful, in helping you along your 'quit' journey. This forum is a GREAT support system, and I wish that I had that, back in 2006!!
Keep On Vaping!!!!Stay Strong!!

"It rubs the nicotine on it's skin"

Apparently she doesn't understand that an ecig does the same thing as a patch, just with awesome flavors at a fraction of the price, and without the nasty skin irritations.

Give her time, the patch never worked for me, I tried it a good 3 times with strong intentions to quit, honestly I tried just about everything until I found vaping, if she's serious about quitting she'll come around eventually lol.

Well I guess it would be......... for her. Not for you. Don't let her karma throw you off your track.

Oh yeah, didn't you know? If you're not suffering, that's cheating.

Some people are such total idiots, it's a miracle they can get dressed by themselves.

Some strange logic there, but I'm sure she doesn't understand vaping.

Like others stated, it's just a matter of time before going back to the smokes. I forget what the statistics are for quitting the smokes using the patch, but it's certainly incredibly low.

I diligently tried the patch, chantix, gum, inhaler, etc, etc; nothing worked. $40 bucks worth of cheap vape gear and I quit a 40 year habit in one day. Not bragging, and not everyone can do it. But the odds are so much much higher vaping to stop smoking than any other method currently available.

If I had to quit vaping tomorrow, I doubt it would bother me enough to even mention. Now it's more of a hobby than a necessity.
