E-Cigarette Restrictions Signed Into Law | njtoday.net – Everything New Jersey

TRENTON – A bill sponsored by Sen. Bob Gordon and Sen. Joseph Vitale was signed into law this week banning the use of electronic smoking devices, commonly known as “e-cigarettes,” in indoor public places and the sale of the devices to minors.
“This is yet another victory for public health,” said Gordon (D-Bergen). “No matter how manufacturers attempt to market these devices, they are still cigarettes. In many ways, they may be more dangerous than traditional cigarettes because of their lack of oversight or any conclusive studies into their health effects.”

“With all of the overwhelming statistics on the hazards of smoking, the e-cigarette is nothing more than an attempt by the tobacco industry to reinvent itself as a healthier alternative,” said Vitale (D-Middlesex). “Meanwhile, they are using propylene glycol, a known irritant, to create the vaporizing effect of the cigarette.”

Are these people so delusional that they think taking away PVs will make smokers quit smoking instead? Do they not realize that they are just causing people to inhale tobacco smoke longer??

Some victory for public help. Thank you so much.

It's the "elected" officials that are the irritant!

My oh-so conservative father is fed up to the point that he's seriously intent on voting against all incumbents in upcoming elections regardless party affiliation.
If ya knew my father you'd appreciate that for the sad indictment of current business as usual politics that it is.

"... In many ways, they may be more dangerous than traditional cigarettes because of their lack of oversight or any conclusive studies into their health effects.”

So, a proven dangerous product is less dangerous than a non-dangerous product that hasn't been proven so?
In many ways, a ridiculous statement like that makes Sen. Bob Gordon and Sen. Joseph Vitale more dangerous than the dangers they proport to be safeguarding people against. It borders on criminal negligence to spout such nonsensical garbage to an unaware general population.

EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS....to the right and halfway down the page was this article...

Lung Association Gives NJ Mixed Marks On Tobacco Report Card | njtoday.net – Everything New Jersey

just a little quote from the article...
New Jersey leaders are making progress when it comes to clean indoor air and cigarette taxation, but it is imperative that we hold them accountable for failing to implement the full range of policies proven to prevent death and disease caused by tobacco use,” added Brown. “We want to see an improvement in the tobacco prevention and control spending and the cessation program offerings. “

And even worse now...banning things that they know nothing about that do exactly that...

I just want to call his office and SCREAM8-o8-o8-o

Big Tobacco hates us because they are loosing billions of dollars from us not smoking there products. And an irritant? I can find it in baby food, should we ban babies from all public places you tool shed!!!

It's not money and power themselves that are the root of all evil, it's the love of them. Both money and power can be powerful sources of good in the right hands.

This is very true! It is just disappointing that it usually never works that way....Although i just read about the FDA losing the court hearing to SE...which gives me back a little faith in the system!

All democrats! No sense writing them, we've tried that. Calling them is worthless too. They don't care what you think or what you want. They have their OWN agenda.

We'll be getting rid of ALL of them this November. They fail to realize how very angry we, the taxpayers, are in NJ at this point.

We got rid of Corzine and we'll get rid of the rest of them too.

I don't even live in NJ, and I've written them (prior to passing this crap)... and guess what, nada. I wrote our Georgia State Senator and Governor (pre-emptive strike) and got a reply from the Governor's office within 2 weeks thanking me for "bringing this matter to my attention" and that he would "keep [my] wishes in mind when and if legislation comes to me regarding e-cigarettes" (good staff at responding at least ;-). I didn't even get a blanket return from any NJ legislators............. nor from my Democrat Senator... not that the party really matters, just pointing out statistics so far...

Well, I think I will try a different approach....I will demand their immediate attention be given to the inhalation hazards caused by all phones ....as they are "still" smoke signals - any way you slice it. I mean, they demonstrated that they posses the superior intellect required to comprehend this line of thinking when they stated an ecig is "still a cigarette". Yeah buddy...I am guessing they will hop right on this "smoking phone" issue and totally forget about ecigs!!!

A bill sponsored by Sen. Bob Gordumb and Sen. Joseph Unintel, was signed into law this week banning the use of inflatable orange swimming devices, commonly known as 'flippers' in indoor/outdoor bodies of water and the sale of the devices to minors. "This is another victory for public health!" said Gordumb. " No matter how manufacturers attempt to market these devices, they are still lead balloons. In many ways, they may be more dangerous than traditional lead balloons because of their lack of oversight or any conclusive studies into their health effects.”

“With all of the overwhelming statistics on the hazards of sinking, the 'flipper' is nothing more than an attempt by the BL (big lead) industry to reinvent itself as a healthier alternative,” said Unintel. “Meanwhile, they are using the color orange, a possible irritant to the eyes of sharks, to spark interest in the 'flipper' amongst children.”

I don't understand how a person can even begin to claim he has the public's best interest at heart, while he is (intentionally?) killing them with misinformation and BS propaganda.
