I am one who believes Paid lobbieists ought to be banned and probably jailed for bribery and extortion. But since that won't happen. I guess it is OK if an industry I support has lobbieists protecting their interests and my right to buy the products they are supporting. So while I wont be giving any money to fight or support lawmaking, beyond taxes. Which are TAKEN, not given. I will buy from companies or industries that do lobby.. But, I am only one person, who is poor.

No. Additional taxation is unacceptable.
If I am growing my own tomatoes and potatoes, I am "taking money out of governments pocket" by not paying sales tax on my consumed vegetables. Should I compensate government?

See: Wickard v. Filburn, 317 U.S. 111 (1942) It is a sad tale of a small farmer growing wheat for the consumption of his family during the depression.

I am a single issue voter. My single issue is the size and scope of the intrusion of the federal and state governments into the lives of citizens. All of the other issues that matter to me are subsumed under that single issue.

I liked you post not because I care about your Political Affiliations. Those are of No Concerns to me.

But because I'm am Not a Single Issue Voter either.

The Reason(s) why people Vote comes in a wide Spectrum.

And what ever those Reason(s) are is Less Important than the Fact that someone actually Does Vote. Because Most People don't Vote.

The concept of the entire citizenry showing up to vote has some surface appeal. However, having been a a lawyer for thirty-three years following as family court judge for eighteen years into retirement, listening daily to the populace speak their thoughts and explain their actions; the concept of everyone voting is, for me, somewhat frightening.

The Reason(s) why people Vote comes in a wide Spectrum.

I have little tolerance for people who don't vote, but complain about the outcomes, citing reasons like:
-They're all crooks.
-They're all the same.
-I'm just one vote. It won't make any difference.
-I don't like any of the candidates.
-The polls are rigged.

People who offer those reasons for not voting - I am glad they don't vote, they are fools.

and in all honesty..........

The Manufacturers are the ones that should be being solicited to Support their industry well being just as BT and BP have over the years. There is potential for a much more massive market development and huge rewards for a small investment.

The idea is great, the target audience is wrong.
makes sense for BT.

their wares are sold everywhere, not just industry specific storefronts.

in this case, anything industry specific should be doing so. they all risk losing their shorts otherwise. not just MFRs.

Actually Rule I own a Dimitri mech and love it so guess that blows that theory out the water, lobbying just isn't going to work for reasons already given. At this stage best we can do is stockpile enough to get us through the idiot period and hope common sense prevails sooner rather then later.

I think, at this point, lobbying the FDA would be both of waste of time and money. They've been threatening to come out with their regulations for over a year now. The FDA has had petitions and consumer/vendor comments coming in for years. They're going to do what they're going to do at this point, and I personally don't think there's much more we can do to sway them one way or another.

Which brings me to the "Would you accept some sort of surcharge from vendors to be used to lobby" - and my answer to that is No. I've already made several contributions directly to CASAA and, IMHO, that's enough. I'm with Rizzy...I'll spend my money stockpiling, thank you, and hope the FDA pulls it's head out of its.....
