Hi all :)

Has anyone had a positive experience vaping on a cruise ship? Fortunately our first cruise was on the Princess line, and they specifically allow vaping everywhere on board except the dining room - fair enough! As a matter of interest, I started checking around the other cruise lines, and boy are some of them neanderthals. They are very responsive, however, and have on-line chat forums for questions. When I asked one line what their policy was, the "chatter" asked "what's an electronic cigarette ?" :D

Unfortunatly, I/We have never even been on a cruise. The only significant travel I've had was the Honeymoon to Cuba, and this was before I started vaping. Still have a couple Romeo and Juliet's in the fridge.

All right, I'll bite - what's a Romeo and Juliet?? A cigar :)

Just came back from an Alaskan cruise on Holland American vaped everywhere (except dining room) even in my stateroom. Last year 17 day cruise through Panama canal with Excellence vaped everywhere also. This New Years we'll probably be going through the canal again and I will be vaping!!!!!! The only issue was people asking what I was doing taking away from my fun.

Oh I used to love Romeo Y Juilieta churchhills .................never over priced

The last time I took a Carnival Cruise, (about a year ago) they had banned smoking and vaping virtually anywhere. Only a very small portion of the Casino, one spot starboard side deck 3 and starboard side top deck only. The officers were saying that unless cancelled, all smoking of anytime will be banned on all Carnival ships in the next few years.

I know they want to cater to the noisemakers, but closing the cigar bar and seriously restricting smoking and vaping is not cool.

Fortunately i had a cool room steward and knew what vaping was. He said I could vape in my cabin as long as no one else could see it. He got a "tip: at the end of the trip.:p

We should make a list of lines and ships and promote them for vapors who would like to vape (albeit a little restricted). I know from experience it is difficult to get answers from head off. It seems a lot of the ships have their own policies (more or less).

I think we can safely say that "smoking" will be severely restricted on ALL cruise ships, if not outright banned. Interesting to note that sabre66 was allowed to vape, while Holland America's official policy is no vaping or smoking :) Quite possibly it might be up to the individual ship on the policy they enforce?

When I was chatting with the cruise lines, I finished by telling them that I would not consider a cruise with their line until they changed their policy to allow vaping - single voice in the wilderness :)

Suffice to say that anyone thinking of a cruise should check the smoking policy, to see if it groups vaping in with smoking! After finally getting off the smokes after 50 years, there is no way that I will put myself in the position of having to start again. If by chance I found myself in that position, I'd probably just vape in the bathroom. Being older, frequent trips to the bathroom is the norm :D

Maybe I should clarify I didnt ask if I could vape I just vaped like a smoker smokes. In side the ship only in my stateroom. I just followed "its easier to ask for forgivness then to ask for permission" rule. If I ask 99% of the time I'll get a no. Nearly all the time no one cares, .... i vape in attics peoples closet their basements.

Most people and crew are more interested in what I'm doing and how it works and after I explain know one cares any further.

Just an update......Holland America seems to have a policy of vapeing where smoking is permitted. I however vaped everywhere except the indoor dining rooms. The only place anyone ever spoke to me was while I was waiting to go zip lining on a shore excursion and a guide politely leaned over and said "no smoking please" but once I explained there was no tobacco in it (I am nic free)he said o.k, that's when the flood of questions came in from people around me who had been curious. It was pretty funny watching people wait for the nasty smell of a cigarette so they could point that finger at me, only to be met with the subtle aroma of strawberries n' cream or Pina Colada. Gotta love vapeing!
