I have 2 wasp nests in my backyard garden. I made a deal with them 3 years ago that If they bite me they die. I've stepped on them accidently while gardening, they land on me while I'm working in the yard and I have never been bitten yet. I love them. They keep the bad bugs off my plants and they keep the bratty neighbor kids outta my yard!:D

... so you lived in NYC then? :D

Haha, no. :p It was one of those first apartment while my exboyfriend and I were both working while making minimum wage type of things. >< That place was cheap, but full of whinos, druggies, and thieves. Bah, never again!

surbitonPete- Ah, reminds me of when I hit a deer one of the few times that I have. I was so ...... off that a deer had messed up my car. Called the police and reported it to get the stuff for the insurance (which I didn't know that this wasn't required to do at the time). The officer came by where I worked after he found the deer and told me that her legs were really messed up so he had to shoot her. :( I'm telling you though, that deer must have came off of the embankment though, because I didn't see it until I hit it, heck I don't think that I even saw it when I hit it- it was more like a brown blur. Plowed it going a straight up 35mph (the speed limit), didn't even get to hit my brakes!

Ok, this has to be the strangest thread I've read here, but it's a good one! Reading the posts explains why I get bitten alive now! I go fishing at sunrise and never used to be bothered by skitos...last weekend I must have gotten 2 dozen bad bites even after using all kinds of spray! You've never experienced true discomfort until you have 2 skito bites in your belly button!

Do those big stinky candle things not help to keep the "skeeters" away?

When I was about 11 years old I had an air rifle and being a boy I just couldn't help targeting birds, until I shot one that didn't die and when I reached it, it was laying on the ground looking up at me far too injured to fly and I had to finish it off, I felt sick with myself for what I had done to the poor thing and never did it again. To this day I can still see that bird looking at me and feel the guilt.
I have a similar story to this. It was with a .44 magnum not an air rifle. I'm not even gonna go into what happened but I still feel the guilt after 25 years too.

We have fishing spiders around here that get in the house sometimes. They're actually large enough to catch minnows to eat. 8-o They dibble their front legs in the water to attract a minnow and then ... whammo ... dinner is served. Scare the bejeebers outta me ...
