tobacco. It looks like nicotine without cigarette is not as much addictive. No real research here.
Yeah that was the main thing I was wondering. Because switching to vaping was way easier than I thought. No side effects (yet) besides mild cravings but those cravings are for vaping now, or rather I think "I want to vape" instead of "I want a cigarette!" but when I tried to quit cigarettes cold turkey I was angry, depressed, crying, had insomnia, jittery, would pretty much scream at you if you looked at me wrong...so on. And that was all surprising since I'm a super duper nice person who doesn't act like that at ALL normally so for me being so mad and moody and pretty much insane all the time when I quit before was really hard for me to deal with.
So basically I wondered if quitting nicotine was easier than quitting cigarettes lol, mood wise. I assumed if so it had to do with the MAOI's.

I don't want to derail your thread, but meds saved my life. Yes, it intensified certain feelings, but I was told that may happen for up to a month until I balanced out. Stuck it out and survived in a better state of mind.

I hope you get the answers you need, everyone reacts to chemicals differently whether it's Nicotine, SSRI$, or any other chemical we ingest.

Good luck, stay up!

Glad it got better :)

I was horrible too on every quit attempt, patches quitened me down though i was still miserable, never noticed any of that with vaping. Maybe the psychology of feeling like i was getting something more enjoyable helped...

Tell me about it.... I don't know how many packs of cigarettes I have thrown away in the last 12 years thinking that I will quit for good that day.
I may have finished paying off my car few years earlier rofl.

"They" do not add MAOI. It is a natural ingredient of tobacco. Stop to blame somebody for your addiction.

Why must we vapers {others} think of smoking as an "addiction"?
It was never classified as one in prior years but now smoker=addict.

It is one of the most inane statements ever uttered.
If you ever used illicit or prescribed drugs and had issues you know there is a destructive element to doing those drugs.
Where are the hoards mugging people for a hit off a ...?
Have you robbed a cigar store today for your fix?
Give me a break a freaking addiction!

We can quote Webster as far as what and addiction is. Then we can all argue about how bad addictions are and to what degree. That already happened in another thread a while back though.

Smokes relaxed me. Made me feel better. Was I addicted. Hell if I know. I don;t really care if someone says I was addicted. I do know of the 1000 times I tried to quit over the course of my 30 year habit my wife would eventually tell me I am being a crab apple and go have a smoke. With that, I much more relaxed.

Addiction, habit, or just a plain golly ole good time. Call it what you want.

To the OP, I used e liquid with WTA. It was a year or two into my vaping. It is what finally cured me of any urge to smoke. A 15 ml bottle later and I was fine with regular nic laced liquid. Well now 3 years later and that little urge is creeping back. I may have to grab some more. But I am going to see if a home made NET will cure it.

Ahhh. that's why the tobacco pickers where all addicted to tobacco.
Most of the people I grew up with in Virginia farmed and raised tobacco and the majority of them never smoked.
It is such a dirty grimy hot nasty job for kids to have.
It is one of the ways to make money in those small towns where everybody raises tobacco.
I strung for fun but it is very hard work.
Webster should change the definition of addiction I think lol :)

Why do they add MAOI anyway? is it to make us even more addicted?
Is it intentional?
I can tell you this much...

MAOIs are a naturally occurring alkaloid in tobacco.
Along with nicotine, which is another naturally occurring alkaloid.

But I have never really heard or read anything about whether they may have ADDED more MAOIs.
That's a pretty interesting question when you think about it.

wellll all I know is that when I tried to quit smoking I wanted to make people go away forever.... with vaping, I want certian people just to go away.... with my DIYNETS... some people are now just bothersome to a degree now....
I wonder if there is a correlation to this.....?

Behind you
I am very curious if anyone knows the actual science behind the differences between an addiction to tobacco, particularly burning tobacco as in "analogs", ..

You might want to check this reddit thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DrugNerds/comments/21ufd5/what_are_the_maoi_compounds_in_tobacco_and_why/

And I strongly suggest you look at the 'WTA' threads at ECF too - lots of back and forth by qualified individuals (including at least two professionals) on the topic.

As an aside - I know of two ECF members who both found the transition to vaping easy for a few weeks/months and then desperately needed something 'more' .. WTAs was the answer to get into their rotation on occasion to satisfy the gaps they experienced. Slowly they were able to filter WTAs back out along w/ nicotine.

In any case, good luck, -Mags
