Vaping with OCD

Hey guys, I'm not 100% sure if this is where a post like this should go, but if it isn't please know that I apologize. Anyways, I have moderate OCD, an annoying disorder that is safe to say most Americans, Canadians and pretty much all of the modern world knows about. People with it can agree that it can be a harsh roadblock in doing many of life's simple activities. I remember reading a few years back that nicotine was shown to help alleviate some OCD but I haven't heard much of that since. When I read that, I was still smoking cigarettes and upon thinking, realized it was help a bit. When a switched to vaping last month, I realized quickly that with nicotine liquids, many of my symptoms would disappear leaving me feeling "normal" again, if only for about an hour or so. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if I'm just crazy. It's one of the reasons I have no desire to quit nicotine.

I can't quote a scientific study on this issue but I think you would be surprised at the number of smokers and vapors that somewhat classify themselves into an OCD issue.

I'm no expert but I think that OCD people probably have a higher likely hood of picking up smoking. Don't picture it as door lock check 1, 2, 3...but instead hand mouth, hand mouth, hand mouth, 1, 2, 3.

I've come across a lot of posts where people on ECF think/believe they fall into the OCD category. I'm probably one of them. Never been diagnosed but even buying vapor gear, arranging the ejuice bottles on counter, seperating things into containers and compartments, worrying about what voltage your battery is at, worrying about if your attomizer reading from vamo is correct to what they said attomizer was at, etc.

I don't think OCD is a good or bad thing as long as you feel you are still in control of your life. If you feel it is taking over your life and certain aspects of your life are no longer "normal" it's probably best you seek treatment. I've viewed myself as borderline OCD for 30 years even before the term was coined...again never diagnosed. Maybe the ... is an OCD issue for me ;)

I started to smoke to relieve stress too, switched to vaping to try to get healthier.

Well all have some sort of OCD, it is sometimes those little things you like a certain way.

we all have some habits and maybe ritualistic tendencies.... but knowing people with actual OCDs (including myself)... im gonna have to strongly disagree.

to the OP. there have been lots of studies on the positive side effects of nicotine as a psychoactive stimulant. even the wiki has half decent info on it.
