I'm friending you solely based on your obvious enjoyment of a good single malt scotch. Though you did forget to mention Talisker. :)

i like Talisker, but the nose is just way to smokey for me...it's simply not one of my favs. the palate is good, but Isle of Skye is a brutal environment for making Scotch.

Are you like 16 years old? I know you're likely not, but I've been one who drank soda at work Cmas parties. Kept my wits about me, had fun, and didn't give into the adult version of peer pressure. This was also during my period of cold turkey / no smoking, so wasn't tempted going into to have a smoke.

Now that my opinions have changed a bit, being a user again, I'd advocate for having a smoke if one is putting themselves in that position. I'd certainly consider upping nicotine, vaping openly, and all things pro ecig to hopefully not have a log, as may be the desire (to not smoke). If one truly doesn't want to have a smoke though, the best response, IMO is to go, have fun, and don't drink alcohol. My previous post on this thread was with regards to one who is considering drinking alcohol and sees it as a test of their willpower.

Having a smoke, while being a vaper, is in my opinion, no huge deal. I realize many, probably majority of vapers disagree with this, but I stand by that idea. And as I've noted many times before, including this post, I've gone smoke free in my adult life for nearly 10 years after experiencing myself as a PAD user. I'm currently a PAW user, and enjoy moderate smoking.

(If this was directed at me) This was a sarcastic remark on drinking at a function, and not intended at the OP. That is why I wrote with my next paragraph "But cutting back on the alcohol is not a bad idea." I personally never drink at a company function, for reasons stated. I enjoy being clear headed and watching others making the fool of themselves.

Quitting smoking has been the most difficult thing I've done, and I've done it many times. My fall has always been "that one cig." I know I'm one who cannot risk having one analog, despite my success with the vape. I am strong, but do not wish to be tested.

Remember the OP question at the start of this thread? "I don't want this to happen to me." "What did you people do to make sure you don't go back to the analogs?"

You choose to continue to smoke. She is choosing not to smoke, and asks for advice.

So, Mushroomie, drink less if at all, make sure you have your vape gear ready, and your pro-active attitude will see you through!

I agree with stronger juice while out drinking. However, I never smoked while drinking because it is banned where I live and I never smoked in my house so vaping was like a bonus ritual with the occasional vodka fest. Okay, well, it still is, but....

You will be fine. Just keep your vape very handy, start looking at it like your drinking buddy!

A friend of mine always goes with something like an NJOY because she says for these purposes, the look and feel is more like an analog. I don't personally know if it makes it easier or not, but it really seems to work for her. I understand the problem, there is a certain appeal to smoking and drinking, heck, that's how I got started. I swore for years that I would never pick up a cigarette and then one night, I had just enough alcohol and picked one up. It tastes/feels different when you drink.

I've never had one of the disposables, but if it reminds you more of an analog, it might be worth a shot.

I'm a Cutty Sark guy. Single malts are special occasion only. ;-)

My best with it so far is Vermillion River's Kentucky blends, esp the applewood.

if i cant have a single malt, then i stick to Murican whiskey, Blanton's Bourbon. if i'm out at a bar, it's usually tough since the selection usually isnt that great and the house stuff just doesn't cut it. i need a bigger flask methinks.

Man. I tested myself early and hard with drinking. The first weekend with my first real pv after cutting down with a blu was at a family wedding. I still smoked during that weekend, but no where near what I would have smoked without vaping.

The Monday after that weekend was when I decided I was ready to go tobacco free the next day. So here I was on Tuesday, tobacco free and some buddies called me up to go out for some drinks. And not at just any bar, but a smoking allowed bar.

I just met it head on and said, '..., i cant hide from this' and went. Vapes my head off but didn't smoke. It has gotten easier and easier each time. Now I can hang out in a smoking bar with people sitting on either side of me smoking away while I puff away on my vape.

And I was a chain smoker, literally, when I used to drink.

Meet it head on, stay strong, and don't look back.

Thanks Everyone for all the reply's! Last year I didn't smoke at all while at the party after the party hit the bar then I did. I think I got this. I am just great full that I can get a lot of advice from everyone! If worst comes to worst I can always sneak into the ladies room and vape small and just don't blow out. I don't think I have to do that. But I know I can and get away with it. Someone smells me I say "Oh just a new perfume I am trying" LOL! Thanks ECF members!

I've had more than a few Grey Goose and tonics and only smoked about 3 analogs the first time I got the buzz on. Vaped the rest of the evening. That was before I put the banner in my sig.

Haven't been tempted any of the other times.

Yes, but I have made myself not to give in. I am a Taurus and stubborn as hell. I did take a drag off a friends analog a few weekends ago just to see if still tasted like crap. Well she smoked menthols and I hated it! I refuse to go back! I am in this for the long hall. I am just a creature of habit I guess. I keep looking for my analogs and I know they are not here. LOL

The urge really DOES fade with time.

I just tell people to not sweat it because the worst enemy to successfully quitting is guilt and pressure.

Very true! If I can not smoke at the party last year I can do it again this year. It really wasn't that hard because I don't smoke anything at work. I have no worries now. I do have a little bit stronger juice that my son had mixed with mine. I am going to bring it but I am not going to just use it. Soon I would like to drop my nicotine level but I have to use up what I have now. I did find this Cherry tobacco e juice I like. Do you think it would be funny if I had a purse full of juices LOL! I think so! Oh well what you gonna do but just deal!

I guess what a lot if are trying to say is, we've failed at times. If you do, don't sweat it. You can go back to vapeing with few problems. We'd all love to stay off analogs, but we all fall at some point. And that is what I love about vapeing. If you fall off, it's not as big of.a fall vs other forms of therapy. We just don't want you to beat yourself up for a slight fail, rather than celebrating a great success. We all have the goal of not smoking. I wanted a cig bad at the end of the saints/falcons game tonight.but I didn't have one. I see that as an winn

That is what makes vaping so drastically different from any other smoking reduction activity.

It makes it all just so damned easy.

Watch, we'll all find out it turns us into porcupines or something after long term use...just to mess up a good thing...lol

Nice! I'm sipping a Dewars with a Vermillion River Kentucky Applewood as I read this. Was just in there today and almost got the honey.

I'm a Dewar's guy, myself, can't afford the single malts except for special occasions. Try Grumpy's Hooch from S&S Mods with it, goes quite nicely.
