My current favorite combination. I never thought I'd be showing off an inexpensive Chinese atomizer, but the Subtank Mini is a real winner.

Received my Marsala VF yesterday ... quite a device. I've never had a device of this caliber before, incredibly well built, well machined, perfect in every way. The Protovapor comes in pretty close in terms of quality, but the beauty of this thing certainly trumps the Protovapor. I immediately put some clear adhesive vinyl over the screen, as I history tells me I'll get all kinds of lint/junk/crap in there; hoping the vinyl will prevent that.

I wish I knew some friends who had a VF dna 40, want to see what an authentic feels/vapes like, I'm hoping to just get one mech mod/ one good buy to carry around all the time/ one high end mod so that I'd have enough variety and hopefully not go to crazy buying too many mods looking for the right one.

I wonder what other special edition flask's will come out, I like the five prawns(minus the advert) and the black tie....maybe if they plan on doing it sometime soon I'll wait and try and pick up a limited edition one if it looks nice.

MidwestGuy, you bring up an interesting point. For everyone that is not covering up the screen cut out, what are you doing to clean the crud out that accumulates there?

On my Protovapor, I used a piece of KGD and some water. I'm afraid anything else might scratch or dull the plastic screen. When done, I use my Giotto Rocket Blaster to blow out any cotton dust/etc. Has worked well for me.

I just use a micro fiber cloth on mine.

I doubt the Black Tie will be released again but the 5P probably will. They release the 5Ps Edition in batches of 50. There have been 3 batches released. I have the last one made thus far.

Oh okay, thanks for the heads up! I may either wait for them to do another run of the 5P edition or buy a black one and wrap it haha. I know I'll wait a few weeks before deciding though

I just got a gunmental VF from VapinArt and, honestly, I'm a little disappointed. The form factor and materials feel incredible and my chip performs as it should, though I haven’t tried the temp mode yet. My problems are just in the quality and attention paid to the little details. The 510 is a crooked!! and attys wiggle in the 510 unless they are tightened down to the device. Because of this, I already have a scratch from the bottom of my Lemo. Honestly, spring-loaded pin aside, the 510 on my Hana clone is head and shoulders better than the VF’s. I do like the way the one cutout looks and all my devices work so I guess I’d rather a too loose fitting than a too tight one. Also the top plate doesn’t align perfectly with the body of the device and is machined a little unevenly. I don’t know anything about machining aluminum so I don’t know how harsh to be but I would think that precise machining is, in fact possible. There is also a gnarly scratch on the body that was clearly not a part of the machining process. These are small things which is why I’ve decided not to send it back but they irritate me considering all the good things I’ve heard about these. I was suckered into buying one of those non-mosfet kammagong box mods with the whole ‘it’s handmade and the imperfections are a part of its charm.’ I got the VF with the hopes of the opposite experience and IMHO it falls just a little short. 7/10.

I would send it back, that's way too many issues for a $300 device. Everything you mentioned shouldn't be like that.

I've been exclusively using my Flask for 11 weeks without any issues (except for the lame battery meter, which I pay no attention to anymore) I vape around 30watts with mostly Ni coils, probably 8-10ml per day, and I plug it in every night, so it's been getting a pretty good work out.

*fixed* (11 weeks now, still looks and functions perfectly)

I swear the gunmetal units are all being made on Fridays or something. Mine had basically identical cosmetic flaws that I documented here, and I'm preparing to contact Preston about the 510/instant low battery warning issue.

That issue in particular irks the hell out of me. They made a big deal about using Fat Daddy 510s in the early versions, and then it seems quietly switched to a cheaper supplier for the DNA 40 editions. Now dozens (Hundreds?) of these units are having problems apparently related to that connector.

I'm to the point that I don't even want to look at mine so my blood pressure will stay in check. All I can say is I hope my next post here is another talking about how wonderful their customer support is. I'm over the machining and other cosmetic flaws in it, I loved it early on for its ergonomics and performance and just want it to work properly again.

To be continued.

Cheers all...
