I swear the gunmetal units are all being made on Fridays or something. Mine had basically identical cosmetic flaws that I documented here, and I'm preparing to contact Preston about the 510/instant low battery warning issue.

That issue in particular irks the hell out of me. They made a big deal about using Fat Daddy 510s in the early versions, and then it seems quietly switched to a cheaper supplier for the dna 40 editions. Now dozens (Hundreds?) of these units are having problems apparently related to that connector.

I'm to the point that I don't even want to look at mine so my blood pressure will stay in check. All I can say is I hope my next post here is another talking about how wonderful their customer support is. I'm over the machining and other cosmetic flaws in it, I loved it early on for its ergonomics and performance and just want it to work properly again.

I was under the impression that the newer proprietary 510 was actually better than the Fat-Daddy, I know mine is.

Sorry about all of your issues, glad I didn't get one like that.

My Flask should be here tomorrow according to VapinArt. Nickel wire and Sub Tank coils are ready. Just got a big bottle of Brothers Reserve Sir Mac and Mr Cookie.

Yeah, well, I hope you have some cheap juice as well, you'll waste a lot learning how to get a good nickel build going. :)

Not true, I got my flask and KFv4 2weeks ago and built my first nickel with 28g NI2000 and it worked on the first try...

NI200 is so soft and easy to build with it was a snap to build 3mm standard coil and fit it onto deck.

Oh and my flask, fit and finish is flawless, battery tubes are excellent. I even got my old purple efest in with not even a push. All my vtc batteries fit securely.

My DNA chip is performing on spec with no issues with my lemo, KF, and taifun v2 to include the new NI subtank mini.

Vapemail! I wasnt expecting it to be this compact. Just a mm taller than a Hana. Working flawlessly so far. Using new Sony VTC5s which I had from while back, slid in slots with no resistance at all. Loving it!

So, I picked up a clone a few days ago, loved it so much I picked up a new authentic last night. The screen scrambles fairly frequently. It's new, and I could return it to the store, but this was their last copy for a bit. Is this destined to be returned ?

Thanks !

The screen scramble is a known issue and you can send it back directly to Vapor Flask. They have a fast turn-around. Join the Flask owners Facebook group and hit up Preston. He'll hook you up.

Remember (especially peeps who just got one) -- the screen insert will eventually get all gunked up with lint, fuzz, scratches, dirt, etc. Don't forget protection! This is a clear vinyl screen protector for (any) cellphone. Works really well and creates a very strong bond to the surface. I used "XtremeGuard" brand. It's hardly noticeable on the device, aside when macro photography is involved. I'd like to eventually cut a new piece but need to find some sort of template, I'm not good at cutting perfect ovals using the free-style scissor method.

Betcha J-Wraps could sell you something that fits perfect, just the excess from the top section of the wrap when they're cutting the clear skins to expose the screen. :)

Do the jwraps cover the entire device, top (including screen) and bottom as well? I may be interested in something like that ... I thought they just went around the main body.

It's a five piece wrap...one piece each for the battery caps, another piece for the remainder of the bottom, one large piece for the main body, and a top piece that covers around the screen/510. Screen is exposed.

But they do make a clear skin for the VF, and the material is CNC cut from sheets, and they're simply discarding the cut sections from the material sheets. If there was enough interest, I'm sure they'd sell those sections, which should just be a hair larger than the screen, as the part that exposes the screen has about a 0.5mm space from the edge of the screen.

I want one of these so bad but the DNA issues is scaring me off. I wonder if they will ever get things straight?

There were 2 issues affecting the DNA40 - the screen scramble and the celsius bug. The screen scramble has been resolved. The celsius bug is still outstanding afaik but will be corrected with a firmware update.

Don't let the negative posts scare you off. There are far more satisfied customers out here including myself that have had no issues and are loving their devices. My VF is not the Celsius version and I have had no issues at all. Same goes for my VS, which is the large screen version with Celsius. I have gone exclusively with the dna40's and have no regrets.

Love me some TP vaping. Good to the last drop! And not a single dry hit.

Nice. Hope to be with you on that soon. It's snowing pretty bad here in NJ so it will probably be a late delivery today. The excitement is killing me. [emoji6]
