So I have been off analogs for 28 days now and fell in love with vaping so much that I own about 20 juices and 3 different ecigs (currently looking to get an good mod - silver bullet, gg or something).

I joined this forum so I could find out more about my new fav addiction and I'm glad I did.

Last night I started to notice that almost any juice I used had a "salty" taste to it. I thought it was something I ate so I brushed my teeth, rinsed with listerene and ate something else. Nothing helped.

Today as soon as I woke up I went to my morning juice - cinnamon. Filled up my atty and took a vape - awesome vapor, smooth draw but almost no flavor, no even the salty flavor.

It has been all day and I have vaped about 5-6 different juices and none of them had anywhere near the flavor they have had for the past 26 days. The cinnamon was very strong before - just like big red and went great with my cappuccino.

Today they were bland, flavorless and at times tasted/smelled like wet dog.

What gives??? Am I immune? Am I gonna have to go back to analogs??

I have been using joye egos lr attys and drip tips. Atty is always wet, and batteries charged. I have now tried 3 different attys thinking one might be bad but no luck. Good to great vapor but no to bad flavor. Drinking decent amount of liquids (not water) and mout isn't dry usually.

Please help!!

Attys degrade from stuff getting baked onto the coil. Have you ever cleaned your atty? That can help some. But they still degrade. I don't use them anymore except for testing new juices , and vaping occasional flavors. I use Boge cartomizers for my main juices on 510-threaded devices (the most popular cartos on 510 stuff, and the 2 ohm are most popular on fat battery devices and mods). I keep them damp with thin clear juice. When the carto degrades after 7-10 days I fill/settle a new one, throw out the old one and switch and it's like brand new again.

Hey crispy, don't get so frustrated, I had a the same problem somewhere in the first month off my pack of reds habit.
I experienced no flavor even though I was clouding the room with vapor, kept triying different attys and flavors and I couldn't figure it out, I did this for about four hrs straight untill I started feeling ill from all the nic I was taking in I suspect, this flavourless period lasted for about 4 days until I could taste liquuids better, in this time it was hard not to do cigs but I had made a commitment to myself that I had to keep, got thru it and now am enjoying the best vaping in all this time.

There is defenetly a learning process that us newbies have to go thru, and this site is IMO an excellent source of knowledge.
Keep at it and learn.

Thanks! At least I know I'm to the only one who is or has gone through this.

I'm just so bummed. Ordered some dr. Pepper, clove, root beer and vanilla juice and it should be here Tuesday!! Hopefully I can taste them by then!!

Btw did I mention that I can taste everything else, it's just the juice that has little to none :(

I'm on day 28 myself and received my first sample pack of flavors yesterday. What a disappointment!! Even the one I had tried before and loved was a waste. I've put them aside and gone back to my methol tobacco with an extra shot of mint and extra plain vg for thicker vapor. I figure if I can get through this taste change with the basics I need, then I'll have the chance to enjoy that assorted sample pack in a few days or a week or so. Not giving up though . . . come too far too well!

I have noticed something else about my taste changing though in the last few days. . . just one other thing so far. . . onions don't taste right to me and I've always loved onions!!

Hang in there. If you're like me the last few weeks have been full of changes and they've all subsided and corrected themselves.

Best wishes!

Everybody goes through a not-tasting period. I vape 2 contrasting flavors in cartomizers so they are totally separate and not sharing an atomizer, and each refreshes my taste for the other. One is very sweet and one is non-sweet.

Some things that ruin aroma or flavor - hot drinks, alcohol, dirty atty or old carto, high VG dulls flavors, food oe drink flavors in your mouth, other aromas around, wind/ventilation blows vapor away so you can't smell it, vaping the same flavor over and over, clogged nose/sinuses, high heat vaping (heat enhances hit, cooler may let flavors come through better), high nicotine (nicotine peppery taste can overpower), using clingy flavors in the same atomizer as others, mixes sweet and non-sweet in same atomizer, etc. Cinnamon can be irritating. Not remembering to smell the vapor.

so funny. almost the exact same story for me: within the first month or so i had accrued 3 different PV's and about 20 flavors. i've only been off tobacco for about 2 months and a week, and it still happens to me. vapor taste comes through in waves. it can be kind of disheartening, but rest assured it will probably come and go. i drink a lot of water, and i've found not only (trying) to space out vaporizing "sessions" (as in when i'm not just sleeping lol) that higher nic liquids tend to deaden my pallatte quicker / more severely. i'm wtih you, looking at getting a solid mod at this point (variable voltage preferrably), but i'd try stepping down the nic strength of your favorite juice and possibly making good use of the PV trifecta and doing some sort of rotation (lr carto, atty, 801 atty, etc.). i prefer to drip my favorite juice out of a Joye 302 atty and then between times i just toke LR carto's and stuff on my ePower 510 battery, the contrast really emphasizes my favorite flavor when i get around to using it.... congrats and welcome and everything too

I used to love my starting setup of a 3.7 mod with LR 306 attys, but I kept having issues with the attys not working right after the first few hrs or the first day, then I bought a variable voltage mod but the 306s wouldn't work right in it because my device wouldn't let me go higher than 3.9 volts with those, then I put the recommended SR cartos in and now I can vape with better flavor and vapor.
It is still a trial for me 8 months into this, I am still looking for better flavor and overall satisfaction.

I find that loss of taste happens from time to time especially if I'm having sinus issues. The only thing I can recommend is to hang in there stay away from the cinnamon for a bit and the flavor will come back. For days when I cant taste anything I usually use a strong menthol. I will note that I haven't had this issue in a while so you do have that to look forward to :p
Best of luck!

The first time I tried red bull, I liked it so much, I filled a tank with it for the weekend. By Sunday, all I tasted was water. I tried other flavors and it was the same thing. I also thought some flavors were salty like you mentioned, but attributed that to a saline filled syringe I cleaned out for juice filling. After 2 weeks or so, my taste buds were back to normal. Looking back at the weekend when the red bull tank was attached to my lips, there were times when juice splattered the tip of my tongue on the draw. While this was a 8mg juice, it did burn a little and I think it kind of numbed my sweet taste buds..

This is common phenomenon, especially among vapers! We have several thousand taste buds which allow us to perceive difference tastes including; salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and umami (a specific taste in meat). Taste buds have a life cycle of about 10 days, however, everyday trauma (drinking hot beverages, ice-cold beverages, smoking, etc.) cuts that lifecycle short. The good thing is that taste buds regenerate and heal themselves!

...what the sticky lady said...what y'all are probably experiencing is the effect of detoxing from the funkies and the regeneration of your tastebuds...happens to darn near all vapers in one form of another and usually at 2 to 4 weeks...usually lasts from a couple to 5 rSo daze and can happen more than once...water. specifically, lemon water and real fruit juices can help and I would definitely cut back on the cinnamon flav juices for the duration......
madjack:2cool:

p.s. solely for me personally...I wouldn't vape cinnamon juice...period...anything that will cause the destruction of poly-carb plastic tanks is not something I wanna put in my lungs...the choice is yours, imjusayin.............mj
