Vapor quite a bit more harsh on my throat than smoking?

I had been smoking Marlboro full flavor for about 17 years. Just started vaping a few days ago. Normally, first thing in the morning I would smoke a cig, and it was more like taking a breath of fresh air than anything. Didn't "sting" at all.

Now I started vaping, and it stings the hell out of my throat, especially that first few drags of the day.

I can't wrap my mind around how burning cigarette smoke feels smooth to me, and vapor feels like it's stabbing the back of my throat. What's up with that?!!

I am vaping a Vapor King with cool carts and Cowboy 36MG juice.

Same thing happens to me, so you're not alone. I've tried first vape of the day with 12 mg Peppermint to see if that helps ... the rest of the day I usually vape 36 mg Sweet Tobacco. Peppermint at 12 mg still feels too harsh, so to "solve" it, I just have a regular analog ... "smart", huh? But after the analog, I'm good to go with vaping for the rest of the day. Weird!

Smokers who I let try my PV, take a long draw like they would on an analog. Most of these people end up choking/coughing, and that is with a low level nicotine. Try taking quicker/shorter draws. Smoking to vaping, is a transition. Once you find out what works for you, vaping comes sooo much better.

Just started vaping recently too. I had the exact same problem. Vaping is way different then smoking. Takes a lil' getting used too. I drink lots of water, take slower less aggressive draws or drags which actually gives me more VP. Keeping the threads of your atty and BAT clean helps too. Dont over do the juice either. I stopped using cartridges and went to dripping and noticed if I over drip I get a gnarly TH that will kill my throat. If you're like me you'll play around with your RIG and juices etc. and learn from your mistakes as you go and find what makes sense along the way.:2cool:

I agree. More than any factor I can identify, I think it all comes down to getting acclimated. Early on, starting at mostly 18MG, my early morning lungs just didn't seem to welcome vapor. Eventually (maybe a couple weeks) and without any particular change in what I was doing, it became a non-issue.

36mg is the main reason. That is a lot of nic. Vaping actually delivers most of the nicotine in the juice as apposed to cigarettes which destroy most of the nicotine during combustion. I'd try dropping your nic to 24 and then after maybe even lower. The first drags are always more rough until you get a coating of nic on your throat. I vape 11mg and it is more than enough throat hit and nic content for me. 24 would be too rough for me let alone 36. I like the harshness of vaping, and it is just a part of the difference between cigs and vape. tried an analog maybe a year ago and it was like air that tasted like garbage.

Well for craps sake you are vaping 36mg juice

And Vapor4Life juices are mostly PG (except the VG ones) so they let through flavor and nicotine's TH and skin irritation the best. AND KR808D-1 is a real 3.7v device, and particular with those WOW cartos can deliver enough heat to increase the TH. Some 24mg vapors cannot even vape some 24mg V4L WOW cartos and have to use 18mg.

My advice - try 24mg. And if that is too much try 18mg. Just take extra drags - you won't have a nic fit. 36mg is extremely high and nicotine is a skin irritant you could actually irritate your sinuses and lungs. If you are using the WOW carto blanks you could try their Coolcarts blanks which are higher ohms so less heat.

Some of those juices have strong hit - some of their flavors have a very sharp edge with nicotine in them. I could not vape 18mg WOWbacco (in a WOW carto) on my KR808D-1 - I had to buy the juice and vape it in a standard resistance Boge carto on my slim 510 manual.

You might need to re-think the way you vape . It's NOT like smoking , at all . You draw in the vapor , very slowly , into your mouth , then inhale , all at once . You DO NOT inhale as your drawing , like a cigarette .

I'd have to agree, 36mg is very strong. Some people can handle it. Most would do better with a lower dose. I ordered some 36mg a few weeks back thinking that I could just take shorter draws if it was too strong. My first vape of it was a long drag like I normally take from my PV. No joke, as soon as I inhaled I thought I'd be punched in the head by a crazed monkey. It hit so hard I literally couldn't see for a couple of seconds. And it was harsh, too, even on smaller drags. I had to mix down all my 36mg liquids with some complimentary 6 and 12mg liquids I had lying around. (Although that did have the side effect of getting me to mix up what turned out to be an awesome flavour!)

Definitely try some 24mg if you want a strong but much smoother TH. That's what I vape and it's right around my sweet spot.

The juice that came with the e-cig my son bought me was unmarked; I don't know if it's
strong stuff or me hotboxing. Whatever it is, I'm getting that harshness, too.

The juice included in my GO-GO is marked with nicotine content, so I'm sure I will be able
to find out. CigEasy better hurry up before I die from anticipation!

There's primer in new atomizers that can cause a bad throat hit too. Get that junk out of there then try the juice. Worked for me.

Yes, I agree with bjannr. I have the same results with my smoking acquaintances . It's probably due to the throat being irritated from smoking. Try vaping more VG in the mix for now.

Drop your nic level, 36mg is for people who smoked 4 packs a day. I smoked a pack to a pack and a half a day of Camels, when I started vaping I used 24mg RY4 or 555 and had no problems, now almost two years later I've dropped my nic level to 12mg. From the day I started I haven't craved an analog since, sure I tried them once in a while just to remember why I started vaping.

This.

For about the first ten days the first couple drags in the morning damn near killed me - then all of a sudden it wasn't an issue any more.

Yeah, I smoked 1.5 packs of Marlboro a day, and figured 36MG was where I needed to be. I plan on using this as a quitting method, so I will be lowering it to 24mg on the next order and so on anyway.

I just thought it was odd that I have been inhaling smoke for 17 years like butter, and then I switch to vapor (which I assumed would be smoother), and it was like I was just starting to smoke all over again. hah

Outside of it burning the hell out of my throat though, it feels somewhat light and airy compared to smoke. Anything "heavier" than what I am vaping now, or is this just the way all vapor is?

Either way, this thing seems to be working out for me, and I don't plan on going back to smoking if I can help it. I am somewhat astonished at the fact that I could just drop cigs without hardly a second thought thanks to e-cigs. I have tried patches twice in the past and what a joke those things are. Half the time I just wanted to roll the patches up and smoke them. lol
