I have been smoke free for as many days in my signature shows. And I am very grateful to the technology available to me, the community as a whole and the efforts being done by a lot of the advocates. I have been watching an interview with Dr. Farsalos with PBusardo a few hours ago just trying to get more info, because information is good if used responsibly and with an open mind. Some how through my feed there came up a vid of people vaping alcohol. Yes I said alcohol. Not using the devices we use, but really don't want to say more. I really do not know how long this trend has been going but it is quite upsetting because I know and for as well as yourselves, somehow this will get linked to the e-cig community/industry. At this point in time it seems that the anti e-cig people will try to use any excuse, no matter how unrelated it is, to further regulate the industry.

Thanks for the rant, but I feel this has to be made aware to everyone.

There Is a device called a VaporTini that allows the user to add the liquor and any other flavoring they might choose into a glass carafe, heat it with a tea candle, and when the liquor evaporates into the upper part of the carafe you use a glass straw to inhale the alcohol "fumes" so to speak. Supposedly gives an immediate but short time buzz without the calories and carbs of ingesting alcohol. Not my cup of tea, but to each his own. Has no real association with the vaping industry as far as I can tell.

Vaportini - Vaportini

The "no calories" thing is sort of a myth. Alcohol in your bloodstream, regardless of it means of entrance, is still calories.

This has actually been around for at least a few years now. It has not yet been a problem for vaping, IMO probably because that process and end goals are so different. Who knows what the ANTZ are going to latch onto next, but somehow I doubt this is high on their list of priorities.

Well, one reason Saki is often served warm is that you inhale a lot of the alcohol. This provides a much quicker, yet much "shallower" intoxication, making it ideal as a luncheon alternative to the "3 martinis", since you can head back to work reasonably sober.

This has been the custom for a while; the idea of "Premium" sake, which is served cold, is much more recent AFAIK. And even the cups it is served in are designed more as small bowls, so the alcohol can evaporate better.

So nothing new here (well, except for vaping, that IS new).

Good call K_Tech. I just read a bit more about it and it seems there is some reduction in caloric intake from inhaling alcohol vs ingesting it, but it's pretty minor for the kinds of alcoholic liquids the devices in question work with.

People were doing that with spray bottles set to mist back when I was in high school. This is nothing new, and completely unrelated

Folks: we need to latch down on the paranoia just a bit. Being vigilant is one thing, but expecting every lil wrinkle that could MAYBE be related by the antis back to vaping dilutes our reactions

Not to downplay your excitement, but vaporizing alcohol has been around since the 1950's, and until your post, I never even thought of a connection between the two.

Considering most spirits are "vaporized" off of a mash and then condensed to create the alcohol you drink, it's been around much earlier than that. ;) OP: I understand being taken aback when you see something like that, and immediately associating it with what you care about -- amunition for those against vaping -- but be assured this is a small-bore image issue compared to Stephen Dorff.

Some alcohols are designed to be partially inhaled, and you can do this yourself by pouring it over dry ice in a container and inhaling via a straw... and I remember AWOL(vapetini precursor) being around in the early 2000s; it's a known tech that never goes anywhere once each generation gets over the novelty. There*are* medical inhalers used for a long while now for pulmonary edemas (fluid builduip) as the alcohol causes the fluid to become less foamy.

Maybe I am getting more liberal in my older age, but I actually think vaporizing alcohol is not a bad thing.

I like the innovation behind it, and I can see where a quick spritz of alcoholic vapor under my tongue is preferable to my normal vodka enema nightcap.

Now, someone needs to invent sleep microwaves where we get a full eight hours in 12 minutes.

Aww man there goes my idea for an expose TV show called "What's going to kill vaping this week.".
