Mine don't have them either, but they were pre-production models I won in a contest, so I didn't think much of it. Where did you buy yours from?
Aussie E Cigs is where and I was damn lucky to get one as he sold out of the first batch and more on the way.
But I am happy and as I said some of the reviewers are also saying the Auto Coil recognition is not working.
Meaning it doesn't work very well...sometimes it will and sometimes it won't.

I have no issues with its vaping, its great, but the coil recognition is an issue.
I like it. I like the white/orange better, though. But that's just the Star Wars fan in me. lol
My Target Mod just arrived back in Miami,Fl--------the display was turning white and mod battery was becoming warm.....
Got mine at Fastech.........they gave me back my 4.00 shipping........still waiting for them to receive it and act on my request....
told them I would like a replacement as I really like this mod.......mine was stainless steel........hope the replacement works.....

I hope they get it replaced for you, too. I really like mine. I still use the stainless one some, I just keep an eye on the battery so I know when it glitches.

From the discussion with Vapresso it is obvious they are aware of the problem and perhaps in the new release or upgrade software there will be some improvements. Apart from Auto coil recognition the Mod is great and I do not have any other issues with it. I adore the ceramic coils and ordered two more packets of the Nickle ones.

Ok. My Vapresso for some reason does not auto detect the coil types used. When I switch tanks all it does is ask me "New Load or Old".....I switch from a Ni coil to a Kanthal coil tank and press new load and the display still shows me I am in TC mode. Other Tc Mods I have like the Wismec auto change to watt mode if the tank does not have a TC coil in it. I am somewhat confused.

Mmh yeah I have been contacted before about this, This kind of automation is however something we are moving away from as many oher companies are apparently because it tends to be somehow a flawed or "less functioning" feature due to the different specs of different coils. While I understand it is a hassle that we do not intend, I invite yo for now to use the manual mode by switching to the appropriate power mode for the appropriate coil. please get back to me with your thoughts on this.

we are not suggesting the issue is not present in your mod, we are only suggesting you may use the manual option other than replacing the device. otherwise we can arrange a replacement.

You are so lucky you got your order from Fastech, I ordered some items from them about 6 months ago and after a month still had nothing and no replies where my goods were. Ok I blocked the paypal payment with a dispute and got a refund from paypal.
This is a common problem with any sub ohmer, you do not need to use as high a concentration of Nic as you would with a normal non sub ohm vape. When I was using nic which I do not now, I mixed mine at 2mg/ml and that was ample. Now I am not only cig free but nic free as well. The lung hits I get with the sub ohm and TC mods which I set to 450F gives me all the satisfaction I need.
I take my hat off to the vape inventors as they did cure my Cig and Nic dependancy. Something that Nic patches Nic Gum and spray failed to do and I might add they tasted foul compared to the tremendous amounts of flavours available in E-Juice.
Update, I have partially solved the problem with my Vapresso as far as tank new tank and coil recognition goes and I also note that should you get a tiny bit of juice into the contact hole the spring loaded connector sticks.
I pulled mine apart yesterday, no mean feat, cleaned the spring loaded connector and gave it a bit of lubrication using water repellent spray oil similar that used for starting wet car engines, just a tiny bit. Then re assembling the same the "the new load-old" on tank changing was working. Took me a whole evening to sort this.
Another point to remember is that if your mod was in TC mode and you locked the resistance and want to change back into watt mode and change tanks be sure to unlock the resistance lock and all is apples. No the Vapresso will not auto change from TC mode to Watt mode if it detects a Kanthal coil. No there is no menu setting for selecting Ni,Ti,or SS coils in TC that part of it is automatic and I have tried it on Ni and SS coils and it works fine. I do not have any Ti wire to play with at the moment but its on order.
As I write, I am running a Griffin tank on it with duel Clapton coil build @ 50W and the resistance reading is 0.26ohm. Sweet as, I am a tad worried about ceramic coils as earlier ceramic coils experimented with do tend to decompose and as I said in the earlier versions of ceramic coils you can end up with a powder residue of ceramics
Time will tell with the Vapresso coils but I for the likes of me cannot understand why they went to the trouble of Gold plating the entire coil....both the Ni and the Kanthal. Sure gold makes an excellent contact, and if so then only plate the contact points. Then the replacement coils could be cheaper. At present from my supplier they retail at $23.95AUD compared to the Kangartech OCC Ni coils for $19.75AUD all from my good mate Aussie e cigs.
He now has some excellent VTC4 batteries at long last and they work extra well in all my TC Mods. Yes they have been hard to get in Australia at least the authentic ones that is
Maybe you in Oz can find them cheaper elsewhere but I do not mind paying a bit extra for fantastic service. I order one day and the parcel is delivered the next by Express post.
For a good starter kit and an introduction to Temperature Control vaping I will give the Vapresso 4/5 and for the price good value. I would give it 5/5 if they fixed the coil recognition; i.e. Auto switching from TC to Watt mode when you change tanks from Ni to Kanthal.
Do not use regular post in Australia the deliver is horribly slow and as my local post master tells me and I quote: "I spend more time chasing lost parcels than I do serving customers"
I also had to chase my parcels all over Australia when I used the cheaper regular post in 6 months I had three out of 7 mis deliveries. The tracking for regular post is hopeless also
