I prefer random picks too, it's less complicated and gives everyone an equal chance. It's also less limiting.

I prefer short contests too, month long contests are annoying.

Like others before me, I also like random number contests. Makes it nice for those who can't be online all day (even though right now I can be). Perhaps instead of just an "I'm in" type of post, something where you give a tip for storage solutions, or talk about what your dream flavor would taste like.

My contest idea, assuming you will have a Christmas Tree which may not be a correct assumption, is you have people guess how many ----------- are on your tree.

How many Red Balls or
How many Candy Canes or
How many Blue Lights

I wouldn't do it for tinsel because you would have to put them on 1 string at a time and count. Run it for maybe a week and then closest guess wins.
