I never leave a cap off for more than an hour. And that only happens if a juice package is especially perfumey when I get it, I'll do a short warm water bath, followed by cap off for an hour. Leaving the caps off for longer than that is asking for trouble IMO as you've found.

I'm finding the longer it all steeps the stronger the throat hit gets with VCV. Especially the fruits, I can't do Harvest Berry, Straw Gwab etc because of this. CtG is not as harsh as the others. The leftover fruits have already been traded off but I still have that Vanilla tobacco for whoever called dibs. I'm leaning towards some of the flavorings, the added distilled water, or both. Sadly this has been driving me steadily out of the VCV camp now that I've tried thicker 100% VG without the distilled water added. Just a guess on my part but you are not the only one Yotdawglife.

Now i have an excuse to get more vapemail :0

Speaking of vapemail I should be getting both my monthly subscription services in the next day or so. vapebox and vapemail club wooohoo i love getting vapemail... Oh i also think im getting vapemail from Halo... YEs Yes im sorry but i must cheat on VCV every once inna while.. Ya know, just to keep it interesting:evil:

Vapers sticking with just one juice-maker is the exception, not the rule..

From the time I finished off the last of my non-VCV, to recently when I bought my first DIY flavorings, I was exclusive with VCV for about 5 months..

Yes, I am a freak of nature.. :( :D

During that time I almost bought some Ahlusion & some Open Source Vapor.. Was eyeing a few others, but forget the names off-hand...

And yes, vape mail is awesome! :mail:

Just the bills aren't as fun...

CtG is not as harsh as the others.

CtG used to be.. I used to get noticeably more TH from it..

But, something's different with it now..

Aside from that extra TH I used to get, it also tastes different, and is no longer clear...

I'm guessing they changed up the recipe.. Whether it's the flavorings or percentage or both..

There's a number of different natural/organic grape flavorings..

CtG used to be mouth-watering good.. Tasted like wine and/or a strong grape juice..

Now there's some color to it, and tastes like grape jelly.. :(

It is possible that I've been getting old batches, or they accidently messed up the mixes, but I don't think that's it..

It's okay now, but it used to be so much better...

Speaking of which, I also think they changed up Sour Skittles (again)..

I can't say for certain, though, since I never bought that on a regular basis...

The CtG and SS I've got are still old recipe and they are not nearly as hard on me as the yellowish colored juices were. If they changed the recipes of those two then somebody needs a stern talking to. If it isn't broke don't fix it. Grape Jelly? BOOOOO! They better not have screwed up Sour Skittles.

I haven't had SS in a while, but this most recent bottle (late May) which I've been vaping for a couple weeks, tastes different than from what I remember..

It's less fruity.. I used to be able to pick out grape, cherry & blackberry..

Now, it's a barely-noticeable general fruitiness.. And more candy-ish/sweet now.. (I think I know which flavoring they're using for that..)

Even if it were just an old batch, which I don't think.. wouldn't at least the cherry, which tends to dominate during steepage, be more prevalent?

This might be good news to some, but it's no longer as perfumey, either..

It also has a "dirty" tinge / color to it now (against a white background).. Didn't it used to be clear?

If they did change the SS recipe, it wouldn't be the 1st time.. I remember people complaining late last year or something about the taste & appearance, how it was no longer as sour, and went from a milky-whitish tinge to clear..

As for CtG? That's definitely changed.. I think it started happening a couple months ago.. Thought I just got a less-than-stellar batch at first.. But when subsequent bottles kept tasting that way, despite any appropriate steeping, you know something is up..

First of all, there never used to be color to CtG! It used to stay clear, even when steeped for more than 2 months.. Now, it's darker in the bottle than the new SS.. And you should see it in my iClear 30 (wish I had a good camera).. it gets even darker than that.. You'd swear it's a dessert, just by looking at the color.. It's amost as dark as my Vanilla Tobacco!

I can't even vape it in my iClear 16 now.. :( It used to taste sooo good in those.. Used to have this bright, tangy "punchiness" to it.. Like a wine and/or crisp, mouth-puckering grape juice..

These days, it tastes more like a bland grape jelly.. and actually tastes better in an iClear 30 now..

Like I said, it's okay.. but it's nowhere near as good as it used to be...

What happened to these? Not sure..

Might be flavoring availability.. Or still the same flavorings, but changes at the flavoring manufacturer..

Is it temporary? Permanent? CtG hasn't been tasting the same for a few orders for a couple months now, maybe longer..

I'm sort of glad I'm getting into DIY at this stage.. As I go further down the rabbit hole, I might try to recreate something similar to the old CtG at some point...

And I hope VCV tries to do the same, because that was a really tasty e-liquid...

Vaped it all day yesterday NS, that is, yesterday I had a hard hard cough when I would hit this, similar to taking a high nic drip. But today its smooth as butter, but I woke up today with a sore throat!! :(

Welcome to quitting smoking!

If it's any consolation, I had all kinds of side effects from quitting cigs.. Including having a really bad sore throat for something like 6-8 weeks..

And just a minute ago, I hacked up some brownish tar from my lungs, which I still do from time to time -- and I haven't had a smoke in over 10 months!

Smoking does a lot of damage to your body.. It's pretty crazy..

YMMV with side effects, depending on what, how much & how long you smoked.. A long list of stuff can potentially happen -- even to those who quit cigs via non-vaping methods...

Ugh. Almost done with what remaining liquid I have left and not sure I can swing for vcv unless a serious flash sale goes down. As much as I hate to, mbv may be my next order... Lol.
I've been only vaping vcv for months so im not sure how anything less will taste!

I'd vape VCV Unflavored all day every day before picking up some MBV...

Gets a little boring, so you could always add some flavored to it to save a few bucks..

DIY in your future?

Pick up some menthol for your unflavored.. I use it at 5%, and could easily be my ADV, if I really had to pick one...

Funny cause that's what I've been vaping lately lately and I actually really like their unflavored. Diy has been on my mind more and more and with the local shop mixing their own, I'll have to see about them selling some flavoring.
I had some moo juice from mbv some months back because it was cheap and one of my first favs... I couldn't do it!

Diy has been on my mind more and more...

Although there are obvious overlaps, we all take a unique vape journey..

Reaching different places, at different paces, making various stops along the way...

And progression is good!

A year ago, I was a dual-user who was puffing on blu disposables part-time to supplement my slightly-reduced cig consumption..

Just as at one point, Julie & Aria were DIY'ing for themselves & a few friends...

Never be afraid to branch out!

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to my little iClears.. :D

(Yeah, yeah.. Eventually getting to the Kayfun/Russian world.. Final frontier!)

Here's another I believe they changed the recipe for -- and this time for the better!

Finally cracked into my 2.5-week-old Ice Beard.. Whoa, Nellie!

They might want to change the name to Ice Beard Blast or something..

Waaaay more menthol than it used to be.. almost too much!

Thinking of cutting it with some unflavored to tone it down some.. I like my menthol, but I don't want it over-powering.. I'll have to see how I adjust to it..

Unless it was just a goof-up on my batch, I think they changed the recipe..

I remember the menthol being too mild before.. Not anymore! :D

It's almost entirely menthol now. When i first ordered IBM it was thicker and darker yellow. Now it's almost completely clear and slightly more watery. I preferred it how it was when i first ordered it.

Didn't notice anything until you mentioned it, but mine looks lighter in color, too.. Not sure how much of that is due to zero-nic, but probably not all..

The thickness resembles my Vanilla Tobacco..

I'm still getting plenty of tobacco.. But yeah, the menthol is definitely kicked up a notch.. :D

You always have to wonder if these are intentional changes in recipes.. or changes in the staff mixing the stuff?

I find the throat hit drift of this thread curious. I vape mostly VCV at the moment, some Alice and Vapor Chef. To me, VCV has 0 throat hit and Alice is like a razor blade. Vapor Chef is somewhere in the middle. My VC is 50/50 and I don't know what the Alice is, they don't say. I have some 100% VG from them, but it's still steeping.

Most of my VCV is either 0 nic and some is 3. I wonder if that's the difference in throat hit. I don't think it's the water.

VCV was kind enough to send me bottles of Harvest Berry and Straw Gwab in 6mg, my normal at the time was 12mg, with this very thought in mind. It made no difference. Didn't help at all. So I don't know if it's the distilled water, the flavorings, or both. But I can tell you that the difference in throat hit between VCV and TVK at the same strength is huge.

I am a big VC fan and have vaped most of their stuff and re ordered. What gear, ohms and power are you using?

I generally drip the stuff in the .5 range. It holds up, is warm and fuzzy too:smokie::smokie:

Inexpensive dual top-coil clearos (1.5 - 2.1 ohms) at 3.7 - 4 volts.. atop Big Yoda, who arrived just yesterday..

The metallic starts popping more as more light hits it (can't really capture that on my cheap camera, unfortunately)..

It's been a while since I've had even as "high" as 6mg.. But I don't remember VCV ever having much TH, given the VG.. It's pretty much mild to non-existent..

At best, it would be slightly more with certain flavors, I've found, like Ice Beard (the menthol) & the old CtG (something to do with the flavoring)...

There are certain things one can add to e-liquid to give it more TH.. Aside from PG, stuff like purified/distilled water, grain alcohol/vodka, etc.

How much of a difference the H2O affects VCV in terms of TH, who knows.. But, it is used for that (aside from viscosity purposes)...
