My (roughly) 2.1 ohms are vaped anywhere from 6 - 7.5 watts / 3.5 - 4 volts... depending on the juice/flavor, my mood & my nic needs at any given time
How do you mean "hot"? I know if I start cranking up the voltage and/or chain-vape for too long, the silver metal band below the mouthpiece can oftentimes get fairly warm (which is why I wish the mouthpiece were a little longer).. but that cools down pretty quickly by cutting back on the 2 things above
Not sure why you're experiencing loss of vapor production.. Does it happen when the juice is getting low? If so, do you make sure the wicks are saturated? Sometimes I leave mine on their side to help with that.. Sometimes I'll also hold them horizontally & slowly twirl them around a few times, letting the juice coat all the wicks from top to bottom... Is any juice/condensation collecting up near the mouthpiece? If so, unscrew the mouthpiece & let the stuff go back down
Not sure what else it could be, other than which PV are you using? If it's a lower-end one, I'm wondering if maybe as the battery drains it's not giving off as much power as it does with a fully-charged one -- and hence vapor levels fall off
Keep in mind that the iClear 16 is a dual-coil, which means it takes more power to operate to its full potential.. also with a relatively higher ohm (2.1), that, too, takes more power than a lower one (say, a 1.5 ohm)
Here's a pretty cool spreadsheet showing the relationship between ohms, volts, watts & amp draw...

Finally... Not sure how long you've been using them, but maybe it's time for a rinse with warm water, then dry-burn & rinse again, like in that video? Night Shift will probably gunk it up a little quicker.. But if it's been 8 to 10 fills, it's definitely time... If not, is everything assembled tightly? Maybe the coil head (with wicks) isn't screwed tight enough to the base.. grab the knurled base (vertical grooves) & unscrew from the plastic tank part (w/no juice inside!), then grab the middle knurled part (bottom of head) & unscrew & then re-screw the head) and re-assemble again
Can be a little tricky to troubleshoot when you don't have it in front of you, but just throwing out a bunch of stuff off the top of my head
Might have to play around using any/all of the above suggestions.. but as you use a particular topper model more, you learn all its quirks & what-not, and adapt your vaping style, and troubleshooting & optimal peformance becomes 2nd nature
And if they're
really new, like only 1 to 2 fills in, sometimes these things just take a couple fills before they start breaking in.. I don't recall with my 16's, but I remember my iClear 30's taking a couple fills & days before they started performing a lot better
Anyway, glad to hear you like them, otherwise.. You can get some surprisingly pretty sick vapor, flavor & throat-hits from these little buggers
P.S. I also vape at an angle.. not straight up & down, and not horizonally... more inbetween, maybe like a 45-degree angle? Helps with better wicking
