Just ordered some Night Shift from VCV, freaking dying to get some good juice in my clearo, vaping on some terrible 50/50 juice from the local smoke shop. The glazed donut/ croissant/ coffee blend is making my mouth water thinking about it.
I definitely get something I don't really care for in night shift after a few weeks of steeping, I just assume it's the coffee flavor, since I can't get past the smell of coffee to actually taste it, I'm not sure what a cup of coffee tastes like.

I haven't had any problems like this with Mewlew's and my bottle is just over a month old. But it is my least favorite from the chocolate line at this point. I prefer Campfire, Nightshift, and Chocolate Pudding in that order. To me it has the least amount of chocolate flavor out of the bunch.

I need some wisdom about Mewlew's. I have some that is about four weeks old. I tried it at about 2 1/2 and thought it tasted awful. Tried it again at 3 1/2 and it still tasted terrible. I should like it, because I like everything in it. The problem seems to be that the flavor that is supposed to be chocolate (which I'm assuming is the dominant flavor of Mewlews) not only doesn't taste like chocolate at all, but it really does not taste good at all. I LOVE real chocolate, but this is my first chocolate vape. Maybe I don't taste chocolate e-juice right? There are other flavors in there that do taste right, but the dominant flavor is just not good at all. Could this still improve, or should I give up? On the other hand. VCV's Carmel Swirl, which I got as a sample, is super feakin' delicious!
Wish I could help you, but my Mewlew's was gone in like a week..Tasted like -- and wherever I was smelled like -- fresh chocolate brownies...Just because you might like eating whatever's in it, doesn't necessarily mean you'll like vaping it, as weird as it seems..The same thing happened to me with VCV's Candy Bar (aside from the peanut vape allergy, that is).. Tasted exactly like eating a Snickers, which is probably one of my favorite candy bars, but I didn't really like vaping it much...Can't explain it..
Odd, VCVs website has 30+ pages of customer reviews raving about Night Shift... haha. I'm planning on vaping on the sample I get until the Night Shift steeps for a week, then I'll report on the Night Shift.
The individual differences in peoples taste buds has been an eye opener for me. The two us have been trying to be more organized in testing to determine what to keep around and tanked up. The difference between what her and I taste at times has been pretty wild. Candy Bar was a flavor I really liked but was just too harsh even at 12mg. It's something I'm running into with some of the VCV flavors now that they've steeped a while, Harvest Berry for instance. Not much coffee in Night Shift for me either.
Night Shift is my fav VCV flavor. I have tried lots of coffee vapes all of them there's just something I can't get past. It's a very mild coffee to me it tastes like Krispy Kreme and milky coffee. I took one for the team and put some in a protank last week. People on my thread were saying they didn't like VCV etc. everyone that said it was using a clearo of some sort. It wasn't good in a tank completely different all together. I've heard that clearos with long wicks work better like a vivi or iclear maybe.

Weird about the throat-hit thing on stuff that's steeped longer..
Is everything else the same, e.g., voltage/wattage, topper, coil, wick, etc?
I've noticed a flavor or two having a slightly stronger TH compared to others.. and another time it was due to a faulty coil..
But never really experienced a noticeable difference in TH when it came to steeping.. Wonder if it has to do with some flavors getting stronger & that's what's setting it off for you, perhaps partly due to a healing throat (from quitting smoking), that something about those particular flavors are just hitting it "right" these days...
The first flavor I order from VCV was Ice beard Menthol, and it tasted good in my mini protank 2. I think the silica wicking mutes the flavor, but cotton does not work well in a mini protank 2 imo, floods and gurgles. Also burns through juice and dry hits. I've gotten better at letting my mini protank 2 wick up and got my voltage settings right, so I'm going to buy a fresh coil and give the Night Shift a fair chance. There's no way it can be worse than the juice I've been using, this stuff is terrible, called L-smoke, from the local smoke shop. Rough, gritty taste that burns the palate and throat.
I ve been recoiling and wicking PT heads with kanthal and cotton. When I first started if it flooded I would add a cotton flavor wick. Now I've got it down to a science

So is the CT more of a 50/50 caramel & tobacco taste, or heavier on one of them?
And what's the best steepage time for it?
I might give that one a whirl sometime...
