Placed an order for one of these with some 18350's and the new cannon drip tip. Been wanting a versatile mod for going to work and back so if I want a more pocketable mod I can throw a small or big battery in it. So glad to see that the manufacturers generously added the vent holes to this mod too. Kudos to MadVapes for getting these in. If anyone else is interested in this mod, grab it before they are sold out! It's been about 4 hours since I put my order in and half of the 60 sum odd that were in stock are gone! Time to stalk the mailman :D

I got one of these (first vers. before the ventholes). After only four days of use, the bottom button broke off the shaft as I was screwing the button lock. Turns out the plunger shaft is not metal, but cheap plastic wrapped in a thin sleeve of brass. In my four years of vaping, I have never seen a device break so easily, or have such a cheaply made primary component. The whole reason I ordered the telescope was because it was advertised as an all metal, completely mechanical device - in other words, it should be durable. Turns out that it is so fragile that operating its safetly lock is enough to break it. I am attaching a pic of the broken shaft/button. I repeat - the shaft is nothing more than a very thin piece of plastic, wrapped in an equally thin brass sleeve. If you are after a pocketable mod, I would suggest the roughstack, which is extremely durable.

Well that kind of took some wind out of my sails. Lets hope it was something they possibly improved

Did you contact the company you ordered it from and let them know about this?

As the first batch of these came out only a few weeks ago, I would venture to guess nothing has changed except the swiss cheese look they have now added with the vent holes. I got mine from the only other supplier of these and yes, they are issuing a refund, fortunately. :)

Wow.... This item has been chock full o' surprises. I almost ordered one today myself.

Well I guess I'll let you guys know how it goes with mine when I get it. Granted I'm not going to try and break it, but I'll put it through its intended usage. I should get it sometime Wednesday or Thursday.

bummer on the button jrjacobs.. We've got some spares coming in if we run into failures..

We've actually had these for a few weeks but there was some bad press with the lack of vent holes so we ran ours through our cnc mill and added the vent holes. Hopefully Smok will add them to the next batch so we don't have to..

I've been abusing mine for more than aweek with a couple of drops and it's still doing okay. I didfind that some eGo cartos won't fit, like the Plastic eGo Mega Dual Coils but most everything else so far is good..

Well I'm glad that you guys are being proactive about the obvious safety issues with the telescope. Cheers to you and your staff.
I'll keep those that are interested updated on what I think about it after I give it spin.

Thanks Hoog -

Bums me out as I really liked this device otherwise - at least in concept. The mechanical plunger type button was one on the main reasons I was interested in the device. I dont understand how they could come up with such a good design, then save two pennies per unit by making the plunger out of a piece of plastic, as thin as a toothpick. Should have made it out of a solid piece of brass. As easily as mine broke, I do suspect you will be getting returns on these. If you have any sway with the manufacturer, you might want to recommend they revise the plunger to a solid piece of metal. If they did that, I would absolutely order another - but in the current state they are too fragile.

I think Smok has updated since V1. I've tried to snap my switch off and can't break it.. :)

Huh? I thought these were still the vers 1 - and that you guys cnc'ed the vent holes yourselves. Is there even a V2 out yet?

If you can CONFIRM that the plunger is now made of metal, instead of plastic wrapped in a thin sheet of brass, I will order one from you.

I got mine a couple hours ago, it was waiting for me when i got home from work. I like it so far, cool to be able to extend or shorten it for different battery sizes and it looks cool too. Only downside so far- top tube is too tight for the kick, I think I could get it in but not sure how I would get it out lol. I'll figure out a way to make it work, cuz it would be a daily use mod for me if I could kick it. I could put the battery in upside down and have the kick at the bottom, but would just need to rig up a protector or something for it so the spring pushes evenly on it.

Well I've spent a little over a week with the Telescope and I can honestly say I really like it. Mostly been using it in "mini" mode and it vapes like a champ with the Phoenix Rebuildables. There are plenty of vent holes (8 in total) on the mod, 6 at the top of the mod, 1 on the bottom of the top tube and 1 down by the button. Everything feels pretty solid, including the button post. One thing I did notice was when using button top 18650's it still shows the top of the tube threads. No biggie, but figured I'd mention it and is easily solved by using the flat top batteries. The threads on the mod are fairly smooth all round. My only real concern is that the battery spring is glued to the bottom of the button assembly housing. Not sure if it is more of a safety feature or not. Either way it's a very nice mod for those that want something that is a budget friendly mod that still looks good for out and about and performs like any other big budget telescoping mod that is out there. As soon as MadVapes get another order of these in I'll definitely be grabbing another. Thanks MadVapes!

Well after having the telescope for just under a month the button broke on me from regular use. I never dropped it or aggressively used the button. Kind of bummed because I really liked it, but you don't really get superior quality when dealing with Chinese craftsmanship. May want to contact the company to see if they can do anything to rectify this issue with future production of these. This is nothing against Madvapes. It's just a QC issue with Smok.
