Hello!

After many conversations my neighbor/friend finally asked me to try out one of my ecigs.

I loaded her up with pretty much my exact setup. I filled up an old glass tank I used before my Nova's and figured it should last her a day.

Anyways.. Last night I called her and she was thrilled that she was almost 24 hours smoke free.

The only problem was she said her gums were red, and asked me if this was normal. I went over to her house so she could show me. There was basically a line of redness (bright red) around her front 4 teeth and bottom teeth (bottom not so bad). the rest of her gums looked ok - maybe a little bit (tiny) swollen but not red.

She said they haven't bled and don't hurt but do feel a bit swollen. She admits shes been lazy about flossing and such lately, but this literally got like this within the day with the redness. She also didn't eat anything out of norm.

I googled this and it seems like people do get swollen or red bleeding gums from quitting smoking - but I find it hard to believe it would happen in a day and confined to one area.

This is the same juice my hubby and I use as all day vape for about a year now.. Shes also tried it on several occasions out of curiosity (but I never left her with it for a day).

I'm thinking:
Dry mouth? She lives on coffee and I doubt she drinks a lot of water.
Maybe the way she holds her lips when vaping? (too much pressure on those teeth?)

I asked her to show me how she vapes and it kinda reminded me of when I used to play woodwind instruments with both lips folded in real tight. lol. It doesn't look like the vapor can actually hit the front of her teeth with the way shes doing it. Yet, that is where the redness is.

Her cheeks, tongue and lips are fine.

I REALLY hope it's not a bad reaction.

Anyone have any thoughts? Should she keep vaping for a few days and just keep an eye on it? Shes in no pain. Just red. Anything specific she should look out for or check for?

"PG can cause allergic symptoms ranging from a scratchy throat to sinus problems, headaches, and even feelings of nausea. In extreme cases, PG can even cause numbness in the face and tongue as well as swelling and redness in these areas"

this sound about right? i would try something less PG and see if that helps..

I am going out on a limb here with a brainstorm I had while reading about this effect your friend had, I have read pg is used in ventilation systems in hospitals and such to kill bacteria. Perhaps the redness was a reaction from bacteria in her mouth as she claimed she wasn't cleaning her teeth well, yeah I know its goofy.
