My work buddy was talking up a ecig store down the street from me, so I stopped in yesterday and picked up a smok EGO kit, with a second tank that was a 510 cartomizer with a ring to cover the outer EGO threads... they let me sit around and sample flavors to find the ones I liked the best, and left with one called GNS Grasshopper (chocolate mint cookie) and one simply called Spiced Pipe. Being a total noob about ecig juice, I don't know much about brands or who makes these things, they say they blend the flavors and nic in-house, and all of them have both VG and PG listed on the ingredients but they don't say anything about the ratio. I know the Grasshopper one is as thick as maple syrup and produces a lot of smoke, the Spiced Pipe is barely thicker than water and there's almost no cloud when I exhale, and it burns my throat. I was going back and forth most of the evening until I started getting painful stomach cramps and super dehydrated. I ended up drinking a gallon of water over the course of the next couple hours before I started feeling alright again. But which is it that people react badly to, VG or PG? I'll start ordering my juices online so I can find something with a blend that works better for me.

Welcome to ECF, Nabby! Simply put, PG carries the flavor and the thicker VG produces the vapor. To my knowledge, VG is pretty benign, but PG has been known to cause reactions in certain folks. Sounds like the Spiced Pipe had a lot more PG in it. I'd ask the vendor what their ratios are, because you'll definitely need that info when buying juice in the future.

Sounds perfect thanks Smokachino ;)

OP sounds like one was 100% VG and that can sometimes be a bit rough on your delivery device, very thick. The other may have been mostly PG which is also not great on the delivery device. I would recommend a 50/50 VG/PG but you may also want to try cutting your nic to 12mg. With juice, it's just that with juices you have to find your own "sweet spot" your pg/vg ratio and your nic level that's best for you. It's so different for everyone. You might start with a 70/30 VG/PG, then go from there. VG is going to give you more vapor, PG will give you the "throat hit", it's all subjective.

They said the ones in the samples I tried were all 11mg, when they mixed mine for me, I had them mix 16mg as up until now, I was going through gas station disposables at 18mg to handle my nic cravings.

Well, it sounds like it may not be the nic level that made you sick (although that is important!) I know my local vape shop usually mixes at 70 PG/30 VG, so it would be interesting to find out what yours used. If you're having a bad reaction to the PG, you can make sure your next juice has much lower levels. I know some folks vape 100% VG, but I've never tried that myself.

PG scratches my throat too bad so i made the switch to pure VG. You can always just try different ratios to see which you like best. I tried ECBlend E-Liquids - Something Better and all different ratios before i made the switch to pure VG. The only reason i went with them is because its only $2.50 for 5ml. Im sure there are cheaper places but its been the cheapest one ive found to try new stuff

I have some 70% VG and 30% distilled water and I've been very happy with it, I feel that it does not alter the flavor all that much and it thins out the juice to make it easier to fill, I also have some 100% VG and it is extremely thick compared to some of the other fluids. It really is dependant on what you want, and you may find that for different situations you want different vape. I know that at home I love to blow the largest clouds I can, but at work I just want my fix and to be happy. That is one thing that drew me to this in the first place, its all about experimentation. But when you find what works for you its even better!

Is the pure VG hard to vape? I've heard it's hard to get a tank that can handle it. Your thoughts? Your delivery device?

No not hard at all. Honestly, even though it's thicker I can't discern any difference with atty life or huge changes in maintenance. It looks thicker, but I have never seen more gunk build up than pg juices. I will say if you change flavors often and have long wick clearos, it takes a little more care to ensure minimal crossing over of the flavors.

Edit : forgot to answer one of your questions. I use evods, ce4s, vivi nova, ismoka/vapeonly bcc mini, and 510 dripping atties - no problems.

Yeah PG is flavor, VG for the vapor and the Nic % gives throat hit. Blends are mixes and depending on what you get it will add the best of both worlds. I prefer to vape at 70pg/30vg and sometimes 50pg/50vg. And it also effects what you are vaping on. 100pg is more watery and could flood your tanks faster but is good if you drag it well. If you are using a wick based tank then it would be great but burns faster. 100vg is harder in a carto tank but doesnt burn as fast in a wick tank. Blends balances them out which will make your vaping experience more enjoyable and easier. Hope this helps.
