Hi Guys - you wanted to know how my trip was going - so here are some pix.... got to go to the Arch today, and took a ride on the riverboat as well...
the boat ride was very informative, the guide gave some great facts of the river and the commerce it spawned.... the old Mississippi was, and remains today, a major transit for goods up and down the US.
The guide touched on the rich influence that the Mississippi had on Samuel Clemmens - who wrote as Mark Twain. His pen name was taken from the particular slang of the area - a Mark Twain is a reference to how deep the water of the river was.
His most well loved character - Tom Sawyer, is also a reference to the Mississippi - a sawyer is a tree stuck in the mud of the bottom of the river.
The phrase that stuck in my head was Clemmen's comment of the Mississippi: "too thick to drink, and too thin to till." he summed it up pretty well.
Here are some photos of my excursion today....enjoy!

Well, Vicks and I are getting together for lunch today. She's staying kind of near the airport . . . not exactly the garden spot of our fair city . . . so I'm trying to think of someplace fun to take her that won't require we travel forever. Sadly, travel is a bit complicated here because a good chunk of one of our main highways is closed. And since it's Monday, several restaurants are closed. :(

I'm thinking I might take her to Schafly's Brewpub in Maplewood. With the acquisition of Anheuser Busch by InBev, Schafly's is now the main St. Louis brewery. The downtown location is a bit of a hike, but I'm thinking the Maplewood location isn't too terribly far. Cheddar beer soup with sticky toffee pudding (to die for) for dessert.

I'm already hungry and it's only 9:30 in the morning.

9:30 - That's what time I woke up this morning - ah, man - I love vacations....

the little plastic army dude was a special treat for my son - he wanted me to take him with me so he could see all the sights... we've had quite an adventure, the army dude and I. And, the best part of all - HE gets to meet JustJulie today :)

The pictures will continue to come as I today get to hang with a fellow vaper (and the dude, hehehe) and start on the way back. Will be stopping somewhere tonight in Il.....

Had a great lunch with Vicks . . . hated to see her climb on her broom and fly off, but I suppose that it's for the best. St. Louis would have a hard time holding two such wild and crazy women.

Not surprisingly, Vicks is every bit as entertaining in person as she is on these boards. It was like we'd known each other for ages.

So we sat outdoors at the brew pub enjoying our various vaping devices. Even gave some e-cig information to an inquisitive server. As for everything else, well, what happens in St. Louis stays in St. Louis. :D

Finally found out what she did for that Klondike Bar . . . 8-o (Just kidding!)

And, of course, Wiz, lunch is on me if you and Mrs. Wiz make it out to my neck of the woods. I love company. :)

That is so cool you guys! Wish I could've joined you! Very cute what you're doing with the perfect man, Vicks. LOL

Nice to see you here Mirgirl! You don't need to duck here. These boys are trained! Vicks knows how to keep them in line. LOL

Hey there Jo & everyone!
Lurk around alot, but ya'll keep me so entertained, I really don't have anything else to add!

Sounds like a great day in the Gateway City for a vaping duo!

I made it back alright - I'm home, and back in the insanity that is my family.....gawd, I missed them all.....

The highlight of the trip had to be the lunch with Julie - you are a sweetheart and a half, dear, and your taste in dessert - impeccible! It was sad to leave and get back on the road.

I stopped to see a little town called Lynchberg, the home of Lake Yaeger (do you think they get bombed there?) The lake was beautiful, clear blue, and very peaceful... I spent a good hour or more here - simply contemplating nature in all its splendor....very cathargic and just what the doctor ordered.

Here's the pix I took of the last leg of my journey - stopped in Lincoln, IL for the evening last night (I can't fly the broom after dark, I've no running lights)... I picked my hotel the easiest way possible..... stopped in the parking lot, and fired up my computer..... the winning hotel? The one with the strongest wireless internet connection!

I stopped at Rusty's Clubhouse for supper - and some relaxing alcohol - my drink of choice: sour apple jolly ranchers...yum! After a leisurely swim in the hotel pool, I spent the remainder of the evening online, in my favorite chat room, with my fellow Emeraldites..... Wiz ...... you missed an opportunity in the chat room - Julie joined us!

Anyway - tomorrow is all set for all the housework I've neglected while being out and about - and then its back to work on Thursday again....sigh..... vacations are far, far too short... the link below is the full Photobucket album of the journey....enjoy!

Glad to see you made it home safe and sound, Vicks and Army dude!
Even more glad to see/hear you had a great time.

Always sad to see a vacation end, but what wonderful memories you have!

Do you have to go back to work right away, or does reality set in next Monday?

Glad to have you back!

Reality sets in tomorrow - back to the phones and the 3 days of work I've got to catch up on.....today I've got to do some suplimental grocery shopping and some housework to get ready for the rest of the week...the best part of this all...I've only got 2 days of work before it's the weekend again - YEA!!!!

Bonus - I left it still standing.... hehehe

What I found simply hilarious was I was vaping pretty openly in St. Louis by the arch, with the Prodigy and the Stick, both.... and nobody could quell their curiousity and ask about them.

But, I got approached and questioned a lot about the little army dude - people are sooooo funny that way.

At the Arch, to get into the complex under it, you have to go through airport-style security.... metal detectors, run all your bags and such through the x-ray machines - hell, if you were wearing a belt they wanted that off too.....
I was a bit leary about that - what with the Prod in my purse (I'd love to know what the x-ray guy thought about this large metal tube in my purse) but cleared the security without a blip.

Had a fantastic trip, now time to go back to work to pay for it all....

That is funny, Vicks. Did Army Dude get searched at the Arch too? Am very surprised your hardware did not get even a second look or question at the security checkpoint.

Nope, Army dude didn't get searched - he didn't even have to take off his belt or shoes....

He did get x-rayed, though...
