Hey guys i have a ggts #620. I am told this is an aluminum without nickel plating but it is developing black marks on it like some sort of nickel plating is coming off it. Is there a chance that my 620 is coated? If not does anyone else have any black marks forming on theirs? Thanks for any help. Here is a pic View image: IMG 4334 2. I can post more if need be. The marks are not raised. I have been the only owner and it has been polished only 2 times.

You must get those black marks out before they set into the metal and pit. Possibly your body chemistry has changed and now when you touch alumium it will created the black marks.

I would think it would need aluminum cleaner first if polishing would not rid them, followed by sharkhide alumium polish.

Sharkhide

Send a pic to the company and see what they say.

Also if this is going to happen to you, I would consider selling it to someone else. Black spot problems will only destroy the GG, unless you are only going to keep it to look at. If mine ever started doing that I would sell them, meaning I have an alumium and 2 nickles. Both finishes are known to do that to some people depending on chemistry of their skin.

Thanks for the help guys. I was thinking of selling it but now that i have cleaned it up and used it again the entire history of my ecig story hit me in the face. It has sentimental value and due to the markings on it now i dont think i would get that much for it. I have thought about getting a nickel coating kit. They only go for about 40 bucks. I have cleaned it up and polished it with an aluminium cleaner but ill see if i can get some of the sharkhide on it. Do not think they sell it in Australia though :-(

Before you fiddle with that - pm RWechsler on what to do with polishing wheels on alum and black spots.

Here is a bit of motivation for you i got this nickel ggts last week #1217 and transformed it back like it just came out of Imeo's hands.

This has to be one of my favourite from my collection.
