it's not completely necessary, but it helps to heat it once before wrapping- it makes it easier to bend and stay in place. It also may help you avoid hotspots if used with a SS mesh wick.

I had my honeymoon phase with my ViVi Nova.
It's over now.
I managed to resurrect the 2.8 ohm atty, but my favorite flavor is butterscotch and the ViVi Nova just mutes or alters the crap out of it. I've since turned to DCT carto tanks to fill that role. They work very well.
I know a ton of people swear by their Vivi Novas, but I'm just not one of them. I don't mean to spout hate to Vivi Nova users, because I am fully aware that my chosen all-day vape (butterscotch) is very hard to reproduce 100% outside of dripping.

Yeah, the vivi is well-loved but for many of us it just isn't worth putting juice through, with all of the other great things out there these days...
DCT cartos are the same price, and work exceptionally well, though the can get messy; But nowadays you can get an RBA or Genesis fron China for a few dollars more as well. And pretty soon, some even more amazing stuff (read: clones) will be appearing too...

Thanx, Hindsight being 20/20, I should have started a thread, instead of "invading"...for that, I apologize.
What I was trying to point out is how good they look, for such a cheap and relatively decent vaping tank.
I've got to thank you for this fix! Removed the material on all my heads and so far, they are vaping the way I thought they should. All of mine have been sitting in a drawer for a month or more; the burned taste just wasn't working for me. Now they are vaping very cool and I'm enjoying them---finally.

So I have a question. What have you guys found that works better than a Vivi? In the last few months, I have pretty much stopped using dual coil tanks, and almost exclusively use my Vivi Novas. The flavor on the dual coil tanks is just not as good as with the Vivi Novas.
I don't have to buy new heads for the Vivis anymore, because dry burning the rinsed and patted dry heads and tanks makes them last seemingly forever. The one problem I have with them is the threads get worn out.
I've heard that the Kanger T3 is an airy cool vape. I really like the warmth and tight vape of the Vivis. Is there something as good or better?

I almost exclusively use rebuildables now, and the vape on them is not as "hot" as the vivi's due to the airflow differences. The closest I've found would be the A7 atomizers, when set up with a horizontal coil.
Anything with more air flow will be cooler and, of course, a looser draw; Anything that takes the air in from an inlet next to the coil will be cooler, while units that force tha air up from below the coil and funnel the air around it will be warmer.

I love my full size, Vision, Novas. Mini nova construction sucks.
I agree with the (dry burn,rinse) recycle process and really have not found anything close in portability and ease of use that can give me the flavor and flash I am looking for.
I did rebuild a few heads in the V1 days, but now the newer heads are cheap and if taken care of, only need be tossed when the wick disintegrates. I have easily spent the last two months on 4 heads in two novas. I vape it empty, refill and repeat. Most heads give me good flavor and good wicking for 75-100 mls. The juice I use is a bit sweet so a recycle is usually needed to clean the gunk from the coil at that point. Let it dry over night and it's ready for another 100 mls.
At 3($,€,£) per head I have a huge juice and device budget left to play with.
I think the VV is a great bit of kit. I am eager to see what you find to equal VVN.

If everything worked for everyone all the time - we would have nothing new......but then again that may be good - we would spend less - but alas - this world revolves around money - so nothing works for nobody most of the time - hence new products..........i know - it dont make sense - but wanted to bookmark this post since I have a vivi sitting in its box for 2 months and am planning to take her out this weekend.....just in case she acts up - I will have this knowledge...............
I haven't tried this yet but apparently the Stardust replacement heads also fit the Vivi Nova tanks without any modifications needed. The OP on the linked thread mentions that they wick a lot better and provide more flavor.

I guess I am one of the few who have not had much luck with the Vivi Novas. At least the minis. I have not used the regular sized ones. As I said in another thread, I have been fooling with 2 mini Novas for about two months now. I can not seem to get the hang of them. I am plagued with wicking problems, dry vapes and no vape. I have cleaned them, taken them apart, put them back together and still cant seem to get a consistent vape out of them.
I have found the Vision v3 clearos to be much more reliable with good taste and very consistent. I have not had any leaking or wicking problems unlike their disposable predecessors. Maybe I am doing something wrong with the mini Vivis. Many seem to love them. For me, the Vision V3 clearos work much better with less fiddling.
I can't speak from experience as to how well they work on full sized VVNs, but I did try Stardust heads on my mini ViVi and noticed the top cap won't quite screw down all the way. If you compare the two heads side by side, you'll notice the Stardust heads are a bit taller. Maybe the regular ViVi has enough room to compensate, but I'm not going to be buying any more of those to find out.
My stint with ViVi Novas quickly reminded me how much I love carto tanks. I got suckered by the hype like everyone else, but I'm going back to what works now.
I know it isn't ok for that matter. I'm learning that more and more every day. I feel like I'm "wasting" my premium high quality juices(I only vape natural flavoring made in the us or other trustworthy countries)by vaping them away in a vivi nova. The issue is what the heck am I to use?
Not everyone can afford to throw money at obnoxiously expensive tank systems like the pro-V. Is there any reliable tank that works well and isn't mass produced in china yet still is the price of a vivi nova? All I know of is Ibtanked's OCD tank but even that is twice as much as a vivi nova especially if you have no carto tank supplies.
I promise I'm not be condesending. I'm genuinely curious. I've been on the search and can't find anything...
If you feel the novas a bit airy just stick a tooth pick in one hole and break it off and its a tighter draw and improves vapour.
Hmmm, I have had my Vision Novas for four months and have had nothing, but very good results so long as I used a 30/40 VG and 70/60 PG good quality smoke juices. Anything with a heavier VG count I had to fiddle a little to get good results and it reduced the life of my coil heads so I stopped using Higher VG Juices.
The only other time I had issues was due to user error: I did not screw one of the componets down tight, or the coil head was at the end of its useful life after 1-2 months of washing and re-using. Other than that I had one commercial coil head that only lasted two weeks because it was not built properly. That's it: Good taste, good vapor production, ease of use, easy to maintain, and inexpensive. I had to cut back my vaping because I was vaping too much, but that was my problem.
I must live a charmed life, by some of the posts I see.
I had some taste issues with certain vendor's juices, but when I went back to three of the best suppliers often mentioned on this site; no problemas. By the way many thanks for the juice supplier info on this site.
The folks here are great.
I think a lot of the challenges folks experience may have to do with their smoke juices. Atty's are more forgiving no matter what you use and some juices work better with carto tanks and clero tanks.
Dial in you juice and a lot of these issues go away. IMHO wick heads have to wick and if your juice is a thick type with flavor additives that don't wick well then you have issues.
It could be as simple as something like alchohol based flavorings wick better and vape cleaner.

The reason why the Vivi Novas lack flavor and burn, is because the slot restricts the juice flow. I've modded mine. It's a simple fix. Just drill the bottom slot so the wick is not blocked.
