i currently use vodka. i drink Titos so i always have some on hand. im sure everclear or any grain 190 proof neutral spirit works better, but ive had great luck with 80 proof Titos (which is an amazing vodka, btw).

ive had vivi nova heads soak in it for weeks at a time, maybe more. no damage or ill effects that ive ever noticed.

i typically have 4 heads soaking at a time. when a tank gets empty, i wash out the parts, fish a head out of my vivi vodka snifter (and plop the recently used head in the glass). pat the soaked wicks, do a dry burn, and im on the train to glorytown.

tip: place plastic wrap over the vodka glass to prevent evaporation. youd be surprised how quickly alcohol can evaporate, leaving you with water presumably.

All the juice we use is 100% water soluble so I don't think we need any kind of alcohol to achieve a better job of cleaning. I've used vodka, water, and 90% isopropyl alcohol, all with the same result when it comes to cleaning...Drinking rubbing alcohol, however, is not advised :-x

 woah!!! no, not advised at ALL! iso is a toxic substance.

Don't use ISO guys. It can leave a film, and if it's not dry it can damage lung tissue if inhaled.

I fill a small ball jar with 50mL Glycerin, 100mL 151 Proof Everclear and stir well. First, I rinse my atomizers off under ultra hot tap water, then I drop them in that jar, put a lid on and swirl it around for about a minute. Leave it for an hour or so, swirl again and remove. Let it dry for an hour on a paper towel. You can recap the jar and store it for multiple uses. (It's good for about 100 atomizers or until it starts to discolor.)

This will clean and prime the atomizer all in one step.

I've been doing this for two years and it's never failed me!

(Incidentally I also keep another small jar full of just 151 Everclear, I wash all other atomizer components in that (plastic, metal and silicon seals/gaskets.)

Yeah, in some of the backwards states (Virginia) we can't get anything higher than 151 proof. 190 would work even better, less water!

I find the glycerin also helps push out any remaining scent/flavor. It'll even get citrus flavors out of a wick, though you may have to leave it soak for 12 to 24 hours giving it a shake now and then. :)

i didnt even know everclear was available in other strenghts other than the high octane 190 proof.

good tip about the glycerin everclear combo. i hadnt thought of using vg in the cleaning process. :thumb:

You can't find Everclear in diluted strength.

What I think would be good to clean with is Bacardi 151. I used it to clean my briar wood tobacco pipes with, and it left a rum note behind.

I use a plastic container Tupperware like. It works great. Renew the vodka every couple of days
