You really don't want to use a dripping atty on an automatic battery. Atty's are notorious to leak e-liquid, and that is a sure battery killer for an automatic. Even Smokeless Image's so-called "sealed auto's" aren't truly sealed (the air hole that triggers the battery is just moved to another location).

I don't believe any adaptor will work with an automatic battery, but not sure about that one.

I would agree with you on NOT using a dripper atty on an AUTO batt.. A very short life should be expected if you do..

I've been dripping on a modified eGo-C with an adapter on an automatic 808 for a couple of months now. Once you learn how much juice your atomizer can hold, it leaks onto the center pin about as much as any carto and clearo. If anything, the adapter helps in this by trapping some liquid inside of it and keeping it from reaching the battery. You just need to clean everything once a day.

Would a drip shield maybe get it to fire?
No. If it isn't firing, either there isn't enough airflow or it isn't making a proper connection. I've never used the 357, but since you say the battery doesn't fire with it then it sounds like the center post needs to be adjusted. If your Vivi Nova fires, but doesn't produce vapor, then you're not getting the proper airflow through the adapter.

Where did you get the adapter from? Is the slot on the adapter on the 510 connection or the 808 connection? Is the center post slotted or just the threads?

Yes it is... Looks like a rectangular indentation on the connection, yes? I know the atty works on an auto, why not this one? Could there not be enough suction to trigger the battery? And if so, why no vape when the light came on with my vivi nova? So confused... Lol

The "slot" must be facing your 808 batt........ If not, then you need to reverse the center pin in the adapter. It should screw apart (you'll have to wedge a small screwdriver bit on the opposite side to keep the entire center pin from free spinning).

Center post- not threads. On the 808 side. When it's closed down all the way there is no air flow... Wrong 808 to 510 connector? Should I be using this?:

901/808D Battery to 510 Atomizer Adapter

This is the one I have:808D to 510 Adapter | Vapor4Life
Not necessarily the wrong adapter. It sounds like the slot may not be deep enough to allow proper airflow. I've even had to use an adapter on an 808 SmokTek cartomizer because the slot wasn't as deep as it should be.

I've had the best luck with the adapters from MadVapes, so I suggest you try that one. I've even used the center pin from my MadVapes adapter to fix other adapters. The adapter I'm using currently came from Avid Vapor, though I had to use the pin from MadVapes to get it working properly. This adapter has 4 small slots on the 510 connection which I'm sure also contributes to proper airflow.

If you have a dremel you could try fixing your current adapter. Or simply purchase the one from MadVapes and see if that fixes it. But don't toss your current one. You may need to use it for parts one day.

Yeah, they come apart. You can just push the center pin out with a toothpick or precision screwdriver.

For the adapter to work, it needs to provide compatible airflow on both sides of the connection. Sealed 808's and 510's use different means of airflow, which is why so few adapters work properly with automatics. With manuals, the means of airflow is nearly non-existant since the atomizer is activated when a button is pressed. This is also why 901 atomizers will work on a manual 808 but not a sealed automatic.

I suggest giving the MadVapes one a try. I've used both an 801-808 and an eGo-808 on my automatics and both worked flawlessly, so I see no reason the 510-808 would give you any problems.
