voltage reg

the voltage regulators at mad vapes only regulate up to 9v i would like to make a passthrough conection for the car ive bypassed the resistor in a car charger for a cell phone and it works fine, but ive got everything i need to make one from scratch except a reg that can regulate 12v into 5v or 6v ive googled it to no end can someone refer me to such a reg?

Yeah, this is really re-designing the wheel. Theres a bunch of car-lighter adapers that output 5v in your choice of output plug, many up to 2-3A. Trying to regulate 12v down to 5v yourself is just a lot of wasted effort when a $5 part will do the trick.
