Yay - my Volts arrived. vaping one now. Good vapour production. Really nice feel in the hand. Nice long draws - a bit airier feeling than Greensmoke. I'm using a 555 carto - nice mild flavour. Only problem for me is the wall adaptor - won't fit NZ sockets. Fortunately I have a couple of adaptors I can use. One is the same input/output as the Volt one (from Greensmoke) - the other is a bit different. My question is will a different wall adaptor cause any damage to the battery? I know zilch about this.

If you're referring to the adapter that has the USB plug bit on it ... they're all "mostly" the same. I do say mostly because there can be some differences of course. USB power is 5v, usually around 500mah. Something that can do 1a is a better idea of course, but not written in stone. The part you screw the battery in is going to convert it to what it puts into the battery anyways. Look at the SI wall adapter and see what it says for Input voltage. I don't know right off hand if NZ is 110 or 220, but a lot of wall adapters can do between around 110 - 240 on the input side, and then you just need a plug adapter to make it work.

Thanks Hawkeye! I found this on their forum page: Can I use any USB adapter (car adapters and wall adapters) with my VOLT USB CHARGER ? Yes any USB port, HUB, wall adapter or car adapter will be fine to power your VOLT USB CHARGER.

Phew! Silly me didn't think about the USB adaptor being the decider, as you pointed out. Next step is getting one of their X2s.

Now it has been said to avoid using the USB port on your computer, and that's because they tend to be at the lower end of the amperage side of things. I personally will do it in a pinch if I need a charge, but generally avoid it. But yes it's nice that pretty much every design agreed on the concept of USB as being the power source.

X2s look nice. I'm more of a 510 threaded guy, but SI's products are constantly reviewed highly on here, so I won't knock them at all. Especially since it was an inexpensive 808 kit that got me to make the initial switch.

The X2 seems like it's basically the same general size as an eGo style battery, and I have to admit I love the feel of my eGos in my hand. 2 weeks with a cig look a like was all I needed to make vaping kind of stick in my mind, so when I switched to the eGo batteries, the larger size didn't bother me. Even the biggest, my 1000mah Twist ends up fitting well for me.

Cheers on making the switch, and never be afraid to ask a question on here. Seems there's always someone awake no matter what your time zone and you'll find your answer. :)

Ohh, and yeah, SI has the CE3 clearo now for sale with the 808 threads. I know you said you're using a prefill now, but I've been loving my 510 threaded CE3s for about a week now. Constant good hit. Good vapor production as well. And unreal flavor. They're a bit daunting at first for filling because you have to use a syringe. But they include one in the package, which I thing is a big plus. Once you do it a few times, it becomes second hat. I now leave for work with 3 of them filled up so I know I can make it through the day, even if I have to extend. They hold almost a full 1.5ml of fluid. Officially they are 1.5ml, but if you put the full amount in, you do risk over filling and juice will come out. They work on simple negative pressure to keep the fluid from leaking over all, and to help them wick.

Something to consider if you decide to start getting into buying bottles of juice. I personally love all the different flavors I can experience this way. Started on tobacco and that got me off cigarettes. Lots of nice flavors have kept me off. :)

Thanks for the tip on computer charging Hawkeye. I have ordered some juice. Will start with filling cartos at first and then might experiment with those new clearos. EGOs do look good. I guess I like the SI compatibility with the X2. But I'll have to check if I have a 1.5 wall adaptor for those. I think I do. I'm less and less worried about having a cig lookalike. But these Volts do look cool.

Well, I would imagine it's around mid afternoon for you folks, or close enough ... but for me here in the states, it's late. I'm off to bed. But I'm going to ask and I'll read the answer in the morning ... in that money saved field on your signature ... is that AUD or US dollars? U$10 a pack ... I don't know if I could handle such, tho I know in places like NYC they do. When I started smoking, I could easily get a whole carton for that price. Oy

Its NZ $. Oh, and $10 a pack is too low but I smoked roll your own tobacco and smoked 40-50 analogs per day. So I converted that to roughly $10 per pack. Actually in NZ regular analogs are about $15 per pack and the govt is intending to increase the price by 50% in increments each year. My friends husband was smoking 50 per day - thats $30 per day, $210 per week. I helped her get pvs for him - now he's down to 4 analogs per day. So pvs are a big money saver for kiwis.

Edit: Oops, Yves has the right figures. So my friends husband was spending even more than I thought!

Heya, kiwivap :) I asked a similar question the other day and Konstantine helped me out a lot. The thread is here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/smokeless-image/316355-non-us-ac-usb-wall-adapters.html

Sorry if that doesn't link, this droid app doesn't seem to want to let me make links.

The gist was that my .5A NZ adapter is sweet for the regular Volt batteries, but if you're looking at getting an X2 you'll need a 1.5A eventually anyway.

If you do see a kiwi 1.5 anywhere, could you let me know? I don't have my Volts yet and I don't know if I'll end up getting a X2, but if I do, i'll be on the lookout for one :)

Thought I'd found one at The Warehouse, but it was only 1A :(

And it's great to meet you! How many kiwis is that here? Yves probably knows better than I do.
