there is something going on with pressure,, heat , expnasion etc.. Taking all these into account , as mentioned in other threads, I think we got this issue solved, a beta is being sent out to test.

The chinese are great at inventing things, if im correct they are the ones that made the cigs and attys and cartos in the first place(some might say it was someone else many years ago and they might be correct ).

so they know how to make them, perfecting them is another thing, i swear sometimes its the simplest of things that they simply dont think of, more fixes have come for some products in the last 7 months from ecf and other forums then the factories themselves, clear tube, fat wick, alf, wider tubes etc... looser coil etc.....

I have had a few of us tackle the vortex, do all sorts of things to it, and we have made a beast, the issue is making it feasible for the factory to do, then i tinkered away, so have others and we made it better but then another breakthrough happened, ( also a part tip form a ecf member) and combines the 2 together and then tested that, it has been flawless since.
the factory is attempting to do this as well.

Hey Bad,
Can I volunteer to do some beta testing??? :D LOL

Another question for our experts.

I have noticed that with two specific juices I have been using (Juicy Clear Ice Cap and Double Double) I seem to get very good flavour for the first say about 5 hits and then it dies off, but still tons vapour (I have tried the same juices in 4 Vortex and the same issue with all of them). Now if I use the same juice in a Fluxo they are great until it runs out.

Now without cleaning them (used them until the juice was almost completely out) I used other juices in them and the flavour is picked up almost right away and I taste the new juice and it stays around until empty.

The battery's I am using are my XL 808 and a Torch (with the 808 to 510 adapter).

At first I though it was gunk building up on the wick but none of them have any buildup like before.

Any thoughts?

Its weird though, because I have the ce2's (for about a week or so longer then the vortex) and have gone through about 20+ fills with them (the same juices I used in the vortex) and none of them had that build up.
They haven't been cleaned, done a little dry burn when they were empty, and I did have to change the tube on 1 of them as it cracked. But no build up at all.

Another reason for loving this forum, its a great learning tool.

One of mine had build up around the coils as well. On mine it was actually kind of ceramic like and I figured it was meant to be there to keep the coils tight to the wick. I cleaned it good with a butane torch and vaped on. In my case this carto remained nice and flavorful...metered at around 3.1 ohms with a full load of juice, and I was actually able to take it to pretty high voltages. I used it over a day at 5v...it finally popped after an hour of heavy use at 6v.

Another vortex from the same box did not have this build up around the wick and coils...
It was not quite as efficent either..in that some of the coils didn't even make contact with the wick and would glow red on longer burns. It also metered at 2.7ohms.

I was thinking the same thing about the ring. But I would still give the vortex's a shot. One thing I always say as far as this industry goes is never go on others opinion.Mine didn't leak and others have raved.

Absolutely agree my friend, I have not really had any leaking issues. I'm pretty sure that is user error. When you take the vortex apart to clean it. Make sure, make sure, make sure that it is snug before refilling. And when putting the vortex back together make sure that it's not attached to your battery. As this may cause you to break your battery by pushing the pin in it, thus crushing it.

A vortex I loaded was tasting awful; emptied and refilled with the same juice and the problem went away.

I'm starting to wonder about the adhesives, or possibly the plastic. But probably the adhesives. Could more acidic juices be dissolving toxic glue?

It's not 'toxic glue' it's plant 'celluose' (or however it's spelled) it's harmless when heated yo.

I freaking LOVE these things! Best carto to date, IMHO. I like hairball's idea of using one for a dripper. Anyway, I've been using these for a few weeks, and have even replaced the coil on a few. Replacing the coil on these is the easiest of all the atty/cartos. My favorite before these had been the CE2s, but they pale in comparison.

I have learned something about the wick and leaks. I used to leave a little wick on either side of the coil, so that when the inner cup/tube was on it, the wick extended outside a little. When you put the outer tube over, it would force the wick down, and cause a small gap above the wick and allow juice to flow into the coil area, and then flood and leak out the thread connection. I now take nail clippers and trim the wick flush with the inner cup/tube and this prevents the juice from flowing into the coil area and no leaks.

Hope this helps.

2 mods I do on a fresh vortex(s)

First is for tank use. Cut the outer tube about 1/4" so the inner tube goes completely through the provided tip. This keep the tip more secured. Yes you lose juice storage, but I find they only give good vapor and flavor on the first two fills.

Second is for dripping. Once your ready to clean it, dissassemble as fore mentioned, cut the outer tube down to about 1/2". Scrap the coil crude off. Place outer tube back on (tephlon tape to seal). Drip tip on, drip down the side (3-4) and now you have an awsome drip atty. I do this almost exclusively. Use my Clearomizers for tanking and modified vortex for dripping. Best solution I've found.

I haven't used my vortex in a little bit but I was thinking today. I got some of the bloog style cartos to try. They use a really nice plug. Easy to remove but don't stick out too much. One problem I had with vortex was the plugs flying off too easily. I thought if they were more like the bloog plugs there wouldn't be any issue with that. Still have a supply of the earlier vortex so I don't know if something was already done.

Don't hesitate to push one of your Bloog tips into a Vortex to see how that works for you. I know lots of folks are using the blunt CE2 plugs instead of what came with the Vortex. Let us know how it goes if you try this?
