Oak mods-1 silver, 1 copper and 1 bone

mods 002.JPG

The bone mod is the experimental one, and has timber taken from the crotch of the tree and shows a lot of end grain. This makes it darker and with a lot of end grain wasn't to sure how it would sand blast.

This is interesting stuff, a very thin slow cure 2 pot epoxy with something in it to make it penetrate, and penetrate it does! these 4 pieces have soaked up around 50ml of liquid, and very little of that will be in the walnut due to it's density. On the other hand the buckeye burr is a soft light wood with a density not much more than balsa, so has sucked up near it's entire volume and should be treated pretty much right through. From now on all light woods will be treated with this product after shaping for waterproofing and durability.
