Yeah Lisa tortured everyone in the lounge with about 20 pics trying to capture the beauty of hers:glare::laugh:
I think she was torturing herself trying to get a photo to come out like the mods looks just cant be done . It was kinda evil of me to do that to her :)

The vv grand black is anodized, correct?

Any way to id the anodized vs. powder?

(I'm an anodized kinda guy.)

Sweet :)
Yes the black grands are anodized . There is a white mod with a black door that one has a powder coated black satin door

The metallics look much better in hand than they do in photos on the web. As Rob said they are very difficult if not impossible to photograph accurately. The size of the pics on the web limits really being able to see the metal flake in the paint. You also don't see the sparkle they give off as you move the mod and have light bouncing off it so the sparkles twinkle. The metal flake also pcks up a lot of the color from whatever light is illuminating it...reds, golds, whites etc.

The colors of the metal flake paint can also be very vibrant. I believe many of the colors are so vibrant that a typical sRBG rendering that 99% of the web uses cant reproduce the color as the paint is out of gamut so the color gets lessened until it fits the color space of sRGB.

They are very beautiful mods, much nicer than what can be shown on the web and through photographs.

I was suppose to ask you before I tried and tried and tried . I got so aggravated with trying to photo the metallic mods I figured I would share the experience with Lisa:laugh: After you told me it was almost impossible it put me at ease thank you Laurin . I wouldn't have given up otherwise

ya i have all four and the 6 bay is my least favorite

Be extremely careful putting your batteries in correct polarity in 6-bay. The "protection" for the 6-bay, unlike the others, is via spring collapsing just like the REOs but they are not replaceable on the 6-bay. AND, each two sets are "tied" together so that if you collapse one spring the other spring in the set collapses some. So if you insert one battery wrong you instantly have a 4-bay. Do it as second time and you have a 2-bay. I'm much more careful putting batteries in correctly in my second 6-bay. I have all of the X-tars and the 6-bay is my least favorite, also, because of the springs. The others have the sliding negative contact. I do like saving space and not so many cords to deal with.

Tripp and others I'm sure use a good sized bolt with large nuts as spacers. They don't roll around like the other non-screw in spacers do.

Hugs, Feisty Alice
