Its a shame about the switch cause I really do love it, but I have noticed on one of mine, the button is starting to get a little flakey. Doesn't always fire up and sometimes have to kind of press it at an angle, down or to the side instead of straight in to get it to fire. Frankly I've been living with it cause I love it so much I cant bear the thought of giving it up for a week to have the button replaced.

That being said, when will you start accepting units for button replacement?

Anytime you feel like sending it in my friend . That is exactly what happens to them they work but you have to push the button at a angle to get it to fire .I loved the setup myself but I cant deal with switches failing

Allright, thanks Rob. I'll have to spend some time looking at the pix of the new button you posted a couple of days ago and decide if i REALLY need to send it in. Did I mention how much I love the way the VVG looks with its sleek lines and no protrusions?

I might be able to deal with a sideways button push, but if you think it might get worse over time I should probably just send it in.

It could last for a long time like that but that is up to you I will even replace the switch in the mod with the same type of switch . I honestly don't think they all do it Like I said I have only had a couple come back. I cant keep putting them into my mods though I don't feel good about it .

When the Modmaster has a gut feeling, ya gotta respect it. It's the same switch that I (we) have in the Mini woodvils and the Woodvil 18490s....and I've never had a problem with any of them. I'm getting a new switch put in my VV Grand as we speak. Mine quit on me Sunday night, and I sent it to Rob on Monday. He's already changing it out for me...I'm excited. I'd rather have confidence than cute.

I may be offering this button option on some of the vv grands your opinions are welcome

As I wrote in my review, the little button, in my opinion, is excellent both from the functional point of view, as on the purely aesthetic one: it is easy to press, as the button of a Ego and also has the advantage of not disturbing the linearity of the PV: It is flush with the rest of the box and this aesthetic particular, for me, exalts even more the clean shapes that has always characterized the Reos.
I am fine with the original button, which I consider the best button ever had so far, despite having numerous boxes with buttons of every type and form.;)

However, I can understand that, for those with large fingers, a big and prominent button, of classic style, may be more convenient to press:)

My switch has been flaky since the start, just haven't gotten around to sending it in for work. if the new one should be better, time for RMA. I do like the little button, but consistency of operation is more important to me.

(My tube mods have tiny tactile switches, I know how to use them, but my VVG switch just isn't playing nice. VVG has quickly become my all-day PV, other than for rough-and-tumble activities where I go back to the tube with a flashlight holster.)

I guess I have sort of 'trained' myself how to press the VVG button so it will fire nearly every time. I just need to be aware of which one has the button issue.

Its great to know that if it should get worse, or if I should get tired of the two being different I have options for replacement or upgrade to the new buttons, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Mr. Reo.

I'm going to keep them both for now, comforted by the knowledge that if anything goes south, help is only a PM and a post office away.

Thanks again Rob!

Looking to buy the a VV Grand. Is the tumbled vv Grand (1st Picture) the same as the tumbled raw Aluminum Grand? (2nd picture) the lighting makes it look different. The material/finish of the box that is, obviously not the components.

Love your beauties!! Unless there is a clear coat on one they could be close except for any differences in the tumbling process of different batches. The texture of tumbled is pretty dependent on what substance is used during the process and how long the process is run. My tumbled Mini, from the first time Robert offered "raw tumbled" and my tumbled Grand, from many months later, are slightly different.

Ya, I know it won't be exactly the same as far as the 'pattern' goes, but if the finish will look like the RAW Aluminum (like in the second picture) I am going to get it. It's hard to tell on the vv Grand picture because of the glare from the Sun.

! ! ! N E W S F L A S H ! ! !

Home of the "swimming REOs" reports a jumpper into dirty dish water. She's in treatment now. Too soon to know condition.

Batteries out fast, alcohol soak. Further treatment will be blow out and a couple of days air drying. Will report condition later.

Alcohol soak, blow-out and then a couple of days in the sun.
