Ya, I know it won't be exactly the same as far as the 'pattern' goes, but if the finish will look like the RAW Aluminum (like in the second picture) I am going to get it. It's hard to tell on the vv Grand picture because of the glare from the Sun.

I just discovered this morning that Robert is offering a clear coat VVG. If I was purchasing one, now, I certainly would want a clear coat. With the raw if you want to polish out any scratches or gouges you will have an area that doesn't match the rest. Been there; done that. The only way to keep the flat surfaces pristine is to exercise extreme caution using or put a jacket on it. I'm going to see if I can get my two tumbled clear coated by Robert. I do love the feel of the texture but I've kept them pristine using jackets and not using them very much.

If my maid ever drops one of my mods in the sink I'm gonna fire her... and hire a better looking one.

Jack

 Wish I had any maid. Congrats on your WOOD. BTW.... "Home of the Swimming REOs" is a well deserved title but they usually "swim" in spa water. DH did "toss" one into an unflushed, #2, toilet once. He had to spend some time cleaning that little guy out but all was well. He, of course, went into extreme detail about the incident. We still get some giggles about that. (He was out of town, in Hotel, without a back-up, so he vaped it "wet" after he cleaned it. It's still working great over a year later.)

Hugs, Feisty Alice

So the picture I posted for the Tumbled VV Grand is with the clear coat and will NOT look like the old Tumbled Raw Aluminum on the regular Grand is what you're saying?

I see what you're saying about the clear coat and the maintenance aspect of it.... ahhh I just saw that a CLEAR COAT only is now available for the VV Grand's. It looks SO similar to the Tumbled VV Grand..... Rob, is there any way to get different (perhaps indoor) shots of both of these? or explain what the main difference is between the two since they have a clear coat on both of them?

Or am I totally misreading what Feisty is saying and the CLEAR COAT VV Grand IS the Tumbled VV Grand with a clear coat?

Sorry. I wasn't clear enough. I can't tell from the pictures you posted if either has a clear coat. I just discovered this morning about Robert doing clear coat on the VVG. I haven't been around very much lately. The new from shop raw tumbled do have some sheen to them and they do "shine" in the sun. Sorry, too, I don't know how shiny the clear coat is. And I don't know how shiny the raw tumbled will remain after a lot of use as mine always have jackets on them and are protected from normal-use abrasion. I'm going to approach Robert about putting clear coats on my Mini and Grand. There will be a cost as he has to disassemble and reassemble them in addition to the clear coating. (And I don't know if the older REO specs have enough tolerance in the door edges to work with a clear coat. I'm sure Robert will address this soon.)

{edit} The tumbled have a different "feel" that a lot of people like, me included. That will more than likely be lost with a clear coating. Also, I don't know if the glint from raw tumbled tiny surface "edges" (like a cut jewel) will be as strong.

I decided to order the clear coat one as that was what I was looking at before it was 'sold out' a couple of days ago. The tumbled version that I saw today on the site just kind of threw me off, but I'll stick with my original choice, and I'm sure I won't be dissapointed. I just can get past the shipping part of the order as it asks me to choose another shipping method which I can't (only the international shipping option is available). Hopefully Rob will get my email soon so I can get the order placed.

Nice work muriarte did I mention polishing mods drives me crazy .

Thanks Rob!

Yes I saw you state that and now, I´m with ya buddy! It is really a lot of dirty, dirty work and it is really hard to keep it clean. I´ll use it mirror like for a while, then I´m planing on going for a brushed finish.

figured it out, it was my damn computer at work, so I just ordered it from my phone. Can't wait. Really hope the 16340's won't rattle to much around in there.....

Never fear! Here's my VV Grand with a pair of RCR 123 Powerizers (pretty much the same size as 16340 batteries). To eliminate rattle, I took a scrap of copier paper, folded it a few times, and wedged it between the bottle and battery stack. It doesn't rattle at all and the batteries never become dislodged. You could improvise a divider from a popsicle stick, too.
