My first VV Bug, '65, was "The Turd" that had been totaled and fixed once before I got it and while I had it my sister totaled it and another car, fixed it and good as new..... almost. Among the many wonderful things about it, I could push start it, myself, wearing heels, on a decline of only a few degrees. I mean, if you didn't have great spacial aptitude you would have to get out a level to tell there was any decline. Only reason I didn't keep it forever was because I loaned it to some friends to drive from KY to TX. They didn't watch the oil, as instructed, and burnt up the engine on highway coming back. They left it there and someone stripped and burned it. IDIOTS.... my friends.

Here's what will hurt... (the bug in my avatar pic is a 65 and restoration is almost complete so I'll be replacing the pic soon)... A fully restored '65 is now worth about $23,000 at auction. That's not even half what the '57 oval window bug is worth in good condition, but still a whole bunch of money.

Hehe, tomorrow's the day, tomorrow's the day! I've got a brand new Cisco 306 all ready for it :D

I didn't realize until I got the tracking just where in Maine they were shipping from. Heck, I could have taken a day off from work and driven over there myself, it's just a couple hours away :p

I think there's something about Priority Shipping that increases the chance that your package will be overdue for arrival. :glare:

Oh, so true. I have a problem with one particular sort facility down in Florida, where every single Priority package I've had go through there has sat there for a week or more before moving on, yet anything I have First Class passes right through and is in my hands in 2-3 days . . . not the fault of the vendor's, of course, but I no longer spring for Priority if my packages are being routed through Florida. It's the only sort facility that this has happened at for me and it happens every single time

Just got in. DH is doing steaks and then we'll eat. I won't be able to do pictures till tomorrow, after I take him to airport. I can't have three new Woodvils appearing all at once. I'll dry coffee grounds them over night and get them out after getting home from airport.

I'm definitely taking pics when they get here. Then they're all getting a good wax to the insides before I use them.

I can't stand it. I'm going to pull Curly Oak out and start using him tonight. I have three 2.0 boges that I started, by mistake, yesterday, that just don't do it at 3.7v.

I got no clue here. I have one that says it left Scarborough, but 2 are still there. Who knows.

what does that mean please?

Unused ground coffee is great for absorbing odors. Sometimes it takes a while for the finishes to cure fully so it helps to pull to finish smell out of Woodvils. Some woods are worse others not so bad and some people are very sensitive to finish odor (me on the extreme end) (a few Woodvils I've had to leave in ground for a couple of weeks) and others not so.

You put it in a container buried in grounds, Woodvil door off but container sealed, and leave it till the odor is reduced enough for your comfort. But not always needed. I'm vaping Curly Oak VV Woodvil right now and there is very little finish odor. It hit UPS store Saturday and I picked it up this afternoon.

I've tried all kinds of tried and true odor absorbers, including zeolite chunks and powder. Coffee works the best. It's good for odors in all kinds of closed areas. I keep open paper bowls filled with coffee in each fridge. Ocassionally, I'll let something like citrus get way over ripe (to the point I have to remove the fridge drawer and wash it). It takes care of even that kind of odor. Probably would be good in stocking toe and tied shut inside stinky shoes.

Out of focus pic of Curly Oak VV Woodvil to follow.

Hugs, Feisty Alice
