So every smoker knew I was getting an e-cig before it actually arrived on my doorstep. I'd been telling everyone about this new thing I'd been wanting to try for a while. I told them I couldn't guarantee it'd be as good as I had heard, but I'd be glad to tell them how it was once I'd had it for a while. When it came in, I was impressed. I have had one analog since it came in, just to see what it was like after the fact... and it was horrid. Needless to say, I made the switch.

On the bus to work, I stealth vape. A lot of older people ride the bus, and some of them might have asthma.. I'd prefer not to scare them and have them die of a heart attack from seeing something and assuming. In between buses, I don't stand way out of the way of people to vape. Granted, I let them get by and onto the bus. I've had quite a few people ask about my m601/2.. mostly people are excited. (Actually, someone could probably make some money printing out cards explaining what an e-cig is to people. I'd pay to not have to explain to every person that comes up, I am as a matter of fact, trying to enjoy my vape in peace.)

In the break-room, I vape. There is another person that did the same until his broke, unfortunately I was unaware of that until after the fact. It would've been nice to have another person there for support when someone got pissy. Today, I was puffing away, enjoying my break, when a guy that I know said "You're going to get in trouble doing that". The girl that was sitting there, apparently oblivious to the fact I'd been vaping not 3 feet away from her looks up and realizes that I'm doing something. I told him that as far as I know, there isn't a rule against it. .. She asked what it was, and before I could respond, he called it an electronic cigarette, and said I'd been smoking. She said "You can't smoke in the store!" and I responded politely saying that it wasn't smoke, it was vapor. I told her it wasn't a danger to her, and asked her if she could smell it. She said she couldn't, but when I took another puff, she said she could, and it smelled bad... (Huh?? She'd been sitting there the whole time I'd been vaping.. w/e).

I was using the Keoke Coffee liquid I just got in (quite lovely).. and I had already (with their permission) blown it in two non-smoker's faces. They both agreed it smelled wonderful.

I pointed it out to her that I'd been vaping the whole time, and she didn't say anything about it until it was made obviously clear that I was doing something. But I didn't take another puff after that so as not to offend her. I'm aware that it's a possibility you can't vape inside, but until I have someone that is salaried say something, I'll assume I can.

Also, there is an assistant manager of the store that is genuinely interested (as well as a few other people who have seen it and heard from me about the benefits) that might be joining these forums to learn more.

Anyway, that's my e-cig in public.

You can try to educate people, like you did, and sometimes it works and sometimes they just want to remain ignorant. That girl just made herself look like an idiot! I feel like we are in our own little civil rights movement sometimes! Good luck, and maybe you better vape in the bathroom for awhile or atleast steer clear of Mr. Know-it-all.

The thing is, I'm the one that told him what it was. I've even brought a cart for him to try every now and then.

Maybe I failed in explaining it to him. He's a friend of mine and we work in the Deli together... but then again, maybe he's just not the brightest guy.

It does feel like we're having a civil rights movement of sorts... Having a manager transition to e-cigs would be fantastic. He's in circles that I'm not. A few managers smoke, it'd be nice if they could find out first-hand how great these things are.

Walmart had smoker's rooms until a little while ago. Maybe they could put vape-rooms in instead. Wouldn't smell bad, and wouldn't force people outside. Idk about you, but moving up here to Maine from Texas is a change. Was about 35 degrees outside, and needless to say, I was freezing my ... off. Imagine how this poor lil' Texan is gonna feel in a couple months when it's -35 degrees outside :(

Walmart had a smoker room???? 8-o

See some people just don't get it, they think just because it looks the same that it is the same. Some may imagine what their smelling is analog smoke but in reality its in their heads.

I just don't get people sometimes, but I would just show it to them and hand out cards. If they do want a demo I'd show them, but hey its a good thing you assist manager seems interested, just be careful. People are known to lose their jobs because people are still close-minded about it.

I work at Lowes and it's a VERY anti-smoking corporation, can't smoke anywhere on store property. But I vape in the break room and everyone is cool with it. My managers know and they are so happy I've been smoke free for over two months. One manager is thinking about trying ecigs [he sneaks off in his car to have a smoke] :D
Just depends on the mix of people at your place of work I guess.
