I have a large humidor which I keep stocked with several cartons of premium cigarettes (Dunhills, State Expresses and such) for guests. There they sit, unless we have a party and the guests get into the humidor with my wife's and my blessing. We've very hospitable hosts.

Were I you, Scoper50, I'd get a bottle of really strong e-liquid to have on hand for those "crave" situations. Sometimes you need an extra jolt of Vitamin-N.

1) I'd say have it and get it over with. Because...

2) As someone who's been hooked on cigarettes, you'll always kind of want one. They say once you quit smoking cigarettes you never really quit smoking cigarettes. Even the thought of being told you'll *never* be able to do something again makes people panic. You'll have to decide if you can handle having one occasionally without going full-on smoker again or if it's easier to just cut them out of the picture. And, sad to say, we'll be making those decisions for the rest of our lives. It's just the sad truth of quitting an addiction: you're never really "done", and it'll always be easier to go back than continue abstaining.

I know for me going to full-time took getting the right setup and about 3 weeks of really wanting a smoke. After that it got much easier. It sounds like you need to up your nic level and chain vape. I know those first 3 weeks I needed some 36mg sometimes. Worst comes to worst, smoke and then vape right away. You'll find the vape much better. I did have a smoke the other day, mostly out of curiosity. Funny thing was that besides tasting like crap, it really lacks vapor compared to my Provari and carto tank.

I'd like to request your wife's blessing in the humidor.

I felt the same way after I started vaping. I smoked less and vaped more but occaisionally wanted a "real one". When I had one, it made me feel ill. I tried again after a few days and the same thing happened and I felt like I could puke. I thought I wanted one out of habit, but realized my body was totally rejecting them. I just had to prove it to myself a few times to realize I was done with analogs and vaping was all I needed. We each have the same destination (to quit smoking), but we each get there our own way. Best wishes, sending you positive vibes!

In my experience, once you've stopped, you keep wanting one, for a little while when a trigger is about (waking up, or being around a smoker, or eating, stress, whatever) - this seemed to last about a month for me.

But the longer you do without one, the smaller the feeling gets.

Then again, I smoked one every other morning for awhile at first, and that didn't stop my determination to quit - its more the "oh, bugger it, who cares anymore" attitude after having one thats the risk. Or starting with one, and going to two etc.

So keep at it and it will get easier, if you go completely nuts, having one isnt the end of the world so long as you stay commited. Probably easier not to have one, long term though...

Well guys, I caved. But it was a planned cave. I decided earlier today that I was going to smoke a cigarette when I got home from work. A lot of people have responded saying that I should up my nicotine level, but the craving for a cigarette all day was not physical. I was not having a nicotine craving. It was a purely psychological thing. I'm already vaping at 18mg. It's keeping the nicotine cravings in check just fine. I just needed to smoke a real cigarette as a reminder.

It was exactly what I had expected. Tasted pretty awful. I don't have a desire for another one, and I don't think I will in the near future. I think my main problem was denying myself the cigarette in the first place. I started vaping about a week or so before Christmas and up until 6 days ago, I gave myself freedom to smoke whenever I wanted. But even while giving myself that freedom, I only smoked 1 or 2 a day until I decided that I didn't want it anymore. When I made that decision to cut them out completely, is when the desire to have one came back.

I think I'm going to take a different approach to this. I am going to give myself freedom to smoke. So what if I smoke a cigarette once a week, or once every 2 weeks, etc... When I started vaping, I didn't do so with any intention to quit smoking anyway. I started vaping because I was curious about it, and I thought I could maybe cut back a little. But it turned into almost stopping completely without even trying. I think personally, the second I try to say that I'm finished with cigarettes, the mental craving starts to slowly build until I finally cave. That's what has always happened in my several quit attempts in the past without vaping.

But with vaping I think I can handle one cigarette a week or so. Maybe less. Just to remind me that I'm not really missing out on anything. And believe me, that last one I had was nasty. Beyond nasty. Now I'm sitting on my couch vaping some Pirates Booty from HHV, and I'm just amazed how much better it is. So much better!

This is the best approach, and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Some people can quit cold turkey. I couldnt. I vaped and smoked for a while, but as I got more proficient and got better gear/juices, vaping got better, and you will see that you will enjoy vaping so much more than smoking.

Try to space them out if you have to have them, the hell period is 3 days and the addiction mostly shruggs off over 3 weeks. I also tried to get new hobbies and change my routine so I wasnt in places or situations which 'called' for a cigarette, but vaped instead. I dormed my first three years at school and decided to commute my senior year, which 'coincidentally' was the year i quit.

If you change your circumstances, you change your habits.

During my first year after I knew I was done smoking (you arent there yet) I would buy a pack every couple months, try them to remember how awful they tasted, and give the rest out. I dont necessarily offer that as advice, but I never really think now that i *cant* smoke, i just dont want to.

Pff, do it. Not everyone quits smoking analogs when vaping at the beginning. I think i've read where some people vape and do analogs, they have just cut down a ton on analogs. I quit the day I got my eGo, but I still have had like 3 since I quit. Then, after/during smoking it, I realize why I quit. They are horrid. I can even taste the other chemicals in them. I don't have one that often, but I've still quit.

So i started vaping in December, and i was still smoking cigarettes here and there. Up until last week i was down to one a day. It was easy. That one a day was enough to satisfy my mental addiction.

I have now been smoke free for six days and all i want is a real cigarette. I know it won't taste the same, or feel the same, but i want it anyway.

This seemed a lot easier when i wasn't trying to deny myself anything. I'm thinking about allowing myself an occasional cigarette. Maybe once every couple days just to remind myself how bad it is.

It seems that as time goes on, i forget about how bad the cigs taste and all i can focus on is how good they used to be.

I haven't had one for 3 months but I did try a puff off my daughter's analog a couple of weeks ago. And yes, it tasted terrible. Like burning smoke. Don't think I'll do it again but if I did it wouldn't be the end of the world for me.

It'll pass. Like Baditude said all depends on if youre the type of person to fall of the wagon because of it. I am so taking a puff or having one occasionally isnt an option.About 2 weeks in I was even dreaming about smoking.....solution? I kept my pv by my side and chain vaped until the urge went away.

Honestly I think the cravings are coming from the other 3999 chemicals leaving our bodies, at least earlier on. I can tell you that it gets easier as time progresses. Im going on 3 months without even a single puff and I rarely think about a cig anymore, when I do its fleeting and I dont have to check myself at the convenience store anymore because Im about to ask for a pack out of habit.

Good luck with whatever you decide and remember that EVERY cigarette you dont smoke due to vaping is a minor victory.

This is an approach I can agree with. Smoking in moderation, with aid of vaping, is for my own experience, a very good thing. It clearly reduces harm from smoking, and for as long as the desire is there, you can have it both ways. I tend not to relate well with people who hate smoking and think everyone else should hate it as well. IOW, the ASZ people. They seem similar to another group that starts with an A and ends with a Z.

Glad you got this worked out Scoper50 for yourself.

I was going to come in here and tell you to go ahead and smoke the cigarette already, and am glad to see that you did.

When I started vaping, I spent a good 2 months smoking and vaping. On 2/2/12, I had my first cigarette free day, but if I ever had the urge to smoke a cigarette, I smoked it. Like yourself, I found them to taste revolting, and eventually extremely irritating to my throat for a few days after smoking. In the span of 6 months, I smoked 10 cigarettes, and each one was worse than the last. The final cigarette was August of last year. Never again. Cigarettes have become so unappealing to me that even a whiff of cigarette smoke or the scent of stale smoke on someone makes me go BLECH! Smoking the occasional cigarette can be a useful tool in the reprogramming of your thought process, and it's a good way of measuring your progress.

Congrats on your imminent success! :D

When i wanted a cig it was because of getting upset with having to fiddle with my vape delivery system. I got stressed at how fiddly it is and had a cig. The last cig i smoked tasted like chemicals. I also learned to stay prepared by having backups and lots of juice. Plus a pack of cigs just in case :)

IOW it is/was not the end of the world for me but everyone is different.

Vape On!

I am glad it worked out ok for you...

I vape every night next to a half pack of cigarettes and a lighter. If I want one, I'll have one. If I don't, I won't. They've been there for over 3 weeks and haven't been touched because so far I haven't wanted one.

I think I might celebrate my birthday next month by reminding myself just how nasty those things are...
