I want to give a tank a try, but like the small sizes of things....like clearmizer size.....is there a good tank that would hold about 2ml which is almost a day at work for me. Would like to try one out with a carto and see how much more flavor there is......read a lot of good things about them being the best way to go.....so any recommend ?

ive tried them all. From the t2 all the way up to the Kanger Protank. Save yourself all the headache, and get yourself the Evod. Absolutely the best performing in my opinion. Plus replacement heads are only $1.50

Never met a clearo I liked, fiddly, didn't work, burnt or muted flavors, plugged up with this juice, leaked with this juice, meh, I'll pass!
As for a carto tank, a carto tank is a carto tank, dependent on juice. If you plan on using acidic juices, cinnamon and citrus etc., get one with a glass tank, otherwise it's more about the carto in the tank than the tank itself.

After vaping for several months my exclusive juice delivery device for the majority of that time have been cartotanks. Provide me with the best flavor and consistancy, and more economic than a clearomizer. I've found that any string wicked delivery device is going to disappoint me with either inconsistancy, harsh vapor, or leakage. And a cartomizer is 1/3 the cost of a clearomizer and 1/6 the cost of a vivi nova. Add it to a tank and you get the best of both worlds.

For small tanks I generally recommend either the pyrex cartotank from IBTanked.com or the polypropylene DCT cartotank kit from MyVaporStore.com.

For a little more there are the Skinny Phinny cartotanks from Phiniac.com.

Baditude.....are you referring to the 510 u-DCTank 3 ml on their site ?
No, this one: 510 Pro DCTank Combo

If you look in the tank sub-forum here, you will find that the locking tanks available so far have had very mixed reviews. There seems to be issues with either the juice fill screw or the top cap causing improper pressure within the tank itself, leading to cartos becoming flooded. Until these issues become resolved, I do not recommend them.

Does it matter what pre-punched carto I buy for each one, do they all take diff ones ?

Just be sure whatever tank you purchase that you have the correct length of carto to match up with the length of the tank.

tank lengths.jpg

Most cartotanks are the longer XL size, so carto's that are pre-punched are more plentiful for that than the standard length. Your choice in carto brands will primarily be between Boge and Smoktech.

You may be given options to also choose between single coil carts and dual coil. I'd say to start out with the single coils. You'll also be given the choice of what resistance or ohm rating of the cartomizers.

Choose low resistance (1.5-1.9 ohm) if you prefer a warmer vape and more throat hit, but also be aware that you may be loosing some flavor and a little bit of battery life and cartomizer life with that choice.

Choose a standard resistance (2.0-2.4 ohm) if you prefer a cooler vape on a fixed voltage device. Choose a higher resistance (2.5-3.0 ohm) if you use a variable voltage device.

One or two laser-drilled, pre-punched holes are plenty enough for adequate filling of the cartomizers from the tank.

The link under my avatar has several articles with information on cartotanks and lists of vendors selling prepunched cartomizers.

All of these suggestions are great.

Like others, I started with Vivi Novas and a Splitfire. The novas have been kicked to the curb: Leak from the top, leak from the bottom, can't lay them down it seems, very juice dependent. Most if not all my juices will not WICK correctly. I just couldn't figure it out. I got frustrated. I replaced the attys multiple times and would get random results. I also started off with a fixed voltage device, moved to a twist, finally to an evic.

I went looking for a low cost solution, and I wanted something consistent, reliable, long lasting, could handle heavy vaping (which NO wicked device can that I"ve found, sans maybe bottom coil), and generally be a good companion and not leak.

I think it was Baditude (Thank you for your service to this forum, your advice has helped me greatly) that pointed me to momandpopvaporshop.com and to their Submarine tanks. They can be found at Tanks - Mom and Pop Vapor Shop

I now have 3 of these and they all work flawless. I can vape all day on them without issue. Filling is so simple, it's stupid. The side fill hole is brilliant. Wasn't sure I'd like it, but after using them for a month or two, I love them. I put a little o-ring on the screw, but that's my preference.

They take standard 34mm carts for the mini-sub (about 4ml) and the 45mm ones for the bigger one. The difference, according to their page, is 1ml. I have the minis. They generally last me all day, and if they don't, fine, I just unscrew, fill, and go. They are also easy to get the fluid back out if you need by using a needle of filler to pull it out.

If you go pre-punched, the only real concern you have is priming the carto. There are many many ways to do this, and I've tried them all, but the best way *I* have found is to just assemble the tank with the carto, fill the tank and leave the fill screw off, but on drip tip, Take 2-3 draws. You'll hear it, and you'll taste it. Take the drip tip off and see if you can see the top being wet. TOO MUCH AND YOU'LL FLOOD IT. That's the hardest things to avoid. If you do, just gently blow the cart out onto a napkin or whatever, put together, and go.

I'm a fan of carto tanks. I've tried clearos and others and couldn't get a consistent, leak-free, experience. I am so glad I switched. I almost gave the ecig up. Glad I didn't.

Also, as others have said, there are polypro, glass, and pyrex out there for the cin/citrus flavors. I recommend IBTanked. They are worth the investment. ( still like the side fill type better though, you could check out Premium Triple V PolyPro 3ml Tank. I don't have one, but they look really good...cheap, metal caps, won't crack, and side fill...hrmmm....

If I spend more money on this hobby, I sense a divorce in my future...

Thanks for the shout out, but it likely wasn't me. I'm not a fan of the juice fill hole tanks. I believe they can disrupt the tank's inner pressure and lead to carto flooding; I'm also one who tends to lose small parts like the screw that plugs the juice hole. The RBA's tanks all use a juice fill screw, and within a week's time I have lost the screws to both tanks I have.

thanks Baditude I placed an order per your helpful instructions, another Benjamin (but this one NOT up in smoke).
Amazed at the info that you can get here......everybody is so willing the help get us off those analogs. I started vaping last year, but was only doing it part time....couldn't get something that satisfied my cravings. About 5 weeks ago I found a juice I really liked and a mg that satisfied me .....and haven't had or even wanted one since. Soooooo happy and feel great.
Great people here for sure......and I am sure I will always have new questions as I progress thru this process.
