I'm assuming FT refers to a fast tech clone? If so I can't help but be captain obvious here and say it doesn't take a NASA engineer for a smooth button but the OG manufacture of the mod.

All the OG mech mods I own(ed) (F3cta, Vanilla, VW Nemmy, and Hero) have/had smooth buttons.

If original mod has a tight smooth switch it may be worth it.

I've been looking at super-t, GP-paps, tree of life and atmomixani sites. Very tempting.

Like others above, I'm thinking you should probably experiment with the toppers before jumping into a mech. The Kayfun you ordered should be an excellent platform to try some things on and using a regulated device with it will force you to play in the 1+ ohm range (much safer) as well as enforce some safety protocols.

My recommendation would be for a nice 1.5 ohm microcoil with cotton wick in that Kayfun - plenty of flavour and usable on anything.

Yup...this is the answer to your question. Practice building coils on a regulated device first.

10 wraps of 28 gauge kanthal on a 5/64ths drill bit...wick with a small amount of organic cotton.

thanks everyone! appreciate all the input, i decided to hold off on the mech, for a few weeks atleast lol. ive built a few coils on the kayfun, ive only done micros so far but the work pretty good! getting about 1.8 with each one, this one i got 2.4, but it tastes good. i put off rebuilding for a while but now i like it!

FT king clone ...$26
Surefire King ....north of $260.

I do not think a " smoother switch" justifies the price gap.
Lol

Besides..if your switch isn't smooth,
30seconds with 1000grit sandpaper and bobs yer uncle.

bob is my uncle, but no amount of sanding will remove wobble switch slop.

bob said $30 will buy an original nemesis switch and may be worth it.
